Ive seen almost all of these weapons in action. this is my life. I can tell you now that every weapon out there has at least 1 flaw. for the AK its a little more than just accuracy as a flaw. Never go by movies or games. ive read books that are way off. the Masada(ACR),H&K 416 & 417 can out perform it and the SCARs L&H are practically there for ARs.

this has been brought up a few times in the past. As you can see by my comments on the right this is a tribute to the ak-47 and all variants and weapons systems based on the same or similar background.. which the Dragunov is.
@JrDiNisi Actually, the resemblance of the Dragunov to the AK-47 is merely cosmetic. It uses a completely different short-stroke gas piston system, FCG, and a much lighter-weight carrier. It is far more complex and less reliable, but has a huge accuracy advantage.
The PSL, on the other hand, is a Romanian marksman rifle that looks much like a Dragunov and fires the same round, but uses the Kalashnikov operating system. They are very commonly confused with Dragunovs.

@ComradeCody Depends on what variant you want. A select-fire version will easily go for $10,000 in the US, plus taxes, registration and paperwork. But a semi-auto only variant can be had for $300-500. But you're right, In Africa they are easier to get than food.

The AK-47 a gun that represents oppression around the world. Besides a shitty safety, terrible mag well, shitty sights, and a heavy slow round. The piston design is what made it so reliable and now most AR-15 companies are coming out with piston design. M16 style rifles FTW.

@evo8herrm The Sights are the same model that is used now, and they are considered some of the best SI sights you can have on a weapon. Once the Modulator for fire control is switched between its individual options, the only chaging machanism is the spring which shifts from the trigger to a metal shelf that switches between Full auto and Semi-Auto respectivly. The Saftey options hooks the spring onto a metal lug and thus it cant go anywhere.
The round is the standard 7.62 MM round.

@evo8herrm The Magazine has been derived into three seperate options also. There is the standard Sickle Mag, the Box Mag and the Dual- Cylinder Mag. All three use the same Zikiaev Steel Spring and its one of the most reliable spring sets in the world. Well, was, its outdated now, but you needent fix what isnt broken. The only maintanence needed on an AK's Mag is lubrication down a specially designed groove at the rear of the sickle, the left hand centre of the box and each side of the D-CM.

@iagui004 you'll be suprised but a " genuine" ak-47 dont exist in russia. In 1950's ak-47 was replaced by it's improved version the AKM, witch is the rifle that is faped off, worshiped, hated and mistakenly know as ak-47 in the west.

@JrDiNisi Actually, the resemblance of the Dragunov to the AK-47 is merely cosmetic. It uses a completely different short-stroke gas piston system, FCG, and a much lighter-weight carrier. It is far more complex and less reliable, but has a huge accuracy advantage.
The PSL, on the other hand, is a Romanian marksman rifle that looks much like a Dragunov and fires the same round, but uses the Kalashnikov operating system. They are very commonly confused with Dragunovs.

you need to learn the ballistics of your own gun. the M16 barely tumbles through someone's body because the body isn't thick enough for the bullet to fully tumble.
Kalashnikov never wanted his gun to be used by criminals and terrorist. It is because they made a cheap gun that never fails and has great stopping power.
