This is a profound video. It makes me very sad today. I was the young person when this was a hit in the 80's...and now I am the middle-aged adult. I had not seen this video since the 80's...and seeing it now made me cry...I see it now in an entirely different light...how time goes by so quickly and our carefree youth is gone.
What a fantastic 80's synth classic! Brilliant. Pop songs were so damn fun to listen to then. The acts today take themselves way too serious. Ha-ha-ha, the guy singing has a 'Sick-Boy' from Trainspotting thing goin on. Great!!!
Gawd, haven't heard this song in ages. Have the 12" of this on vinyl. Belouis Some opened for Frankie Goes to Hollywood at the Hollywood Bowl and I missed their set getting drunk in the parking lot. Doh!!!
Wow ! How I miss the 1980's. The music that came out of Europe was amazing. I still have this track on an actual record album from back then. It's one of my prized possessions.
One of those masterpieces from the 80´s paying tribute to the 50´s. There was some kind of obession for that decade in many of the stuff produced during the 80´s. However, post II World War a great period in human history to lift up spirits and forget about sorrow. Something faithfully achieved during the 80´s. Thanks for sharing this.
The video was partly filmed in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. I followed the film crew around the town watching them film the video. Great to see it again after all this time.
I haven't heard this song in years!! I think the last time I heard it, I was the kids in the videos age, and now I am the grown ups in the videos age!! HaHa! Thank for the trip down memory lane! :-)
I have so many great memories of the 1980's I feel sorry for the kids growing up now cos they wont have as much to remember cos they are influenced by drink and drugs and a lot of bad music. We were so innocent back then but at least we remember it and the music that came with it!!!!!
@StacysMom13 In truth every generation at least since WWII feels that their generation was innocent compared to the one that followed. I mean what do you think the generation that was succeeded by the rock n roll generation must have thought? But yes to a certain degree each generation is right in thinking that. Without a doubt, kids nowadays are growing up in a horribly superficial & materialistic world with the music to match. Personally don't feel this is a very good 80's song though.
An excellent 80's song!! I believe this was on the "Pretty In Pink" soundtrack if I'm not mistaken. I've always loved this song! I should have received more airplay than it did. I miss the 80's too! Peace, Kim
this video is horrible to say the least; but hey...it was the 80's and most videos where cheese; unlike the music though, that was the best I can honestly say I belive it was/is. All bands today try to imitate in some way or another 80's bands (there where some shitty also I must say)
Thank you for the video. One of my favorite songs. I listened to this song in my '66 bug on cassette as I drove from Massachusetts to California in 1985.
God, I remember seeing this on "Emu's World" in the UK with the late Rod Hull, and one of the kids who was dancing for the show was singled out because they were in this video... damn repressed memories...
yeah its true...and everyone assumes belouis some is his real name so comes from some exotic country...but it's his stage name...his real name is neville keighley i believe and is from yorkshire!
Yes, it was released by Capital. I was in a dj record pool in the 80's & 90's/ It was released as a 12inch dance single . I used to play it all the time. A great song!
What a great memories!! Dig the Swatch Watches on everyone (this song was used in a Swatch ad in the late 80s). I wish someone would post that commercial.
I got this on 7 inch it better that the cover version which I also got on 7 inch by Murray Head, din't know it was the same song I got it from a record shop for 50p about 2 years ago.
I had a HUGE crush on him too - still do actually. I loved this song, still have it on my MP3 player. Whatever happened to him? Those kids are pretty talented dancers.
I love this song! Belouis Some also appeared on the Pretty in Pink Soundtrack, and this song specifically I believe was used in a Swatch Watch Ad back in the 80's on MTV...
"life was so simple then a kind of play time" - too right. Last time I saw this Nevil looked so much older than me - now he looks so much younger than me!
This video was made by a fellow called Storm Thurgeson; talented and insane. I was there when it was made. The weather was crap, the fish and chips were excellent. Neville did lots of walking.
This video is killer - a variation on the pied piper. How old were you when you stopped dancing? I used to play this video at Sparkles the old club at the top of the CN Tower in Toronto
anyone have the mp3 of the album? I scared Neville at the London Hippodrome asking for a copy (I was going through my "look like a gay phase") on CD. I was a fan from imagination, one of my all time favourites. i suppose I could just rip it from the vinyl.
