  • should have been crossing at Champlain (south of Montreal) back in the ealy 90's. avereae time clearing was 3-5 hours, and if it was on a friday, and after 11pm, you were stuck there til monday morning!. Stuck there in the impound lot. watched by a guard. if it weren't for the guys in roach coaches, u might not get a warm meal til noon monday!

  • i saw this news program years ago. it was about people in the "trucking industry" called "lumpers." as best as i could tell, lumpers are criminals who, if you don't pay to unload your truck, will vandalize your truck and/or freight or attack you. i guess they are basically mafia-types practicing an old fashion protection racket-scheme. are lumpers still around; if so what do you do about them?

  • @roaringwaterbay lumpers are contracted unloaders. they used to be pretty crooked, but now there are lumper companies that have exclusive contracts for the docks. if u choose to use them, and refuse to pay, they can have u arrested for theft of service. however, there are still docks that require lumpers, and the only choise u have is to deliver or not.

  • @179178 i guess you could deduct the lumper unload fee on your taxes as a business expense.

  • GOODRICH landing gear.

  • is that your wearing a tuuk or a turbin. LOL

  • if they make it easy for you go across the make the hole thing useless .that how they make it easy to sneak the stuff across .all you need i some paper work

  • @kokoko6000 That's right, blame me! lol. Take what is given to you. Don't wine and complain for now. You will be handed a bunch of crap when you start. You'll need to prove to them your a good driver. after a while, things will improve. Don't listen to the supertruckers at the truck stops. They're only bitter because they can't deal with it.

  • @seansuth i tried to go to trucking school and get a driving job my dad drove and i went with him and saw almost the whole country through the windshield of a FLD120 but i got in trouble when i was younger and trucking companys have something against people with 1 felony soo im beat

  • @kokoko6000 did ou go thru a school and yeah teh supertruckers are bogus ther easy to stpot and watch otu for th nut cases the i was CIA specile forces types thell talk your ear off and stay away from any place that says country lagest beffet thell make u bigger than a buss

  • try the argentina chile border at 2 o'clock in the morning the guards there are the most grumpy guards you will face no respect will be given

  • Charge the cellphone!! You're out of battery :-DDD Good vid. I'm learning ...

  • Charge the cellphone!! You're out of battery :-DDD

  • right on, i used to live in Everett, wa still have a few friends there.

  • The part when you were driving real fast sounded like you were shaving with an electric shaver. Do you sometimes save while driving or would that be a violation of company policy?

  • I'm about to cross this weekend, but have not crossed in 7 years. Has anything changed since 2008 when you made this?

  • @ConLoco76 Not so far as I know

  • @seansuth What about passport requirements?

  • @ConLoco76 you need your ace manifest and a passport to get in the us and to haul into canada you need your pars sticker on your customs paperwork, your broker will set it up and get your entry number for you.

  • Your Videos are really awsome... Thanks for sharing your travels

Border crossing can really suck can't it?

  • @fordranger797 Thanks. Yeah, it can... But as long as you have all your papers in order, and treat them with a BIT of respect (even tho sometimes you never get it in return) it can go pretty easy most often

  • @seansuth u and steve are some badass truckers and the kings of youtube truckin tell me do u have fun out there??? and how are u guys? i look up too u guys i want to be like u guys keep them wheels rollin little buddy 10-4

  • you life in canada or in U.S.A. ?

  • @mrbean5644 Lived in Canada, now moving to the US

  • All your videos are awesome & very helpful. Thanks Sean!!!

  • do you need a passport to cross the border into canada or mexico?

  • @cowboyup143 The way I understand it right now, to cross into Mexico or Canada no... But to cross back into the US you do, even if your American

  • @seansuth cool thanks....i like your videos they help out...im just drivein local right now no OTR places will hire me..sad to say i even tried swift and werner and no go

  • @cowboyup143 I have a friend like that. Thoese companies wouldn't hire him because he didn't get training at a school. He worked on farms most his life and drove semis for them, he gained knowlage of them and went to the DMV and passed the tests. But didn't go to school. It's an insurance thing

  • @seansuth thats exactly what my deal is...i drove on farms went to the dmv passed all my test but the insurance thing is stopping me...i got the county here to give me a chance ...just not enough hours..but they count it towards experience atleast

  • @seansuth thats my exact problem...worked on a farm learned to drive went and got my CDL and no one will hire me now cause of insurance...dont know how they want you to get experience if no one will hire you ya know..im working for the county so hopefully it will help me out

  • I could care less about relations with Canada or any other country. All I care about is protecting my people here in America. I hope Canada takes the same attitude when it comes to protecting there own people.

  • @Richweir1 fuck you! america is no different then canada!! i could careless for your country but luckly i`m the kinda guy who cares for both countries!!! so dont start shit about canada!!

  • Canadian Border Bullies.

  • The Canadian border people reminded me of the Gestapo when i crossed into Canada.Cost me $350.00.Can't go back until I do "criminal rehab".WTF! But otherwise I like Canada.

  • @5150ramjet they actually fined you? Seriously. W T F !!

They turned me around and told me "YOUR BANNED FOR LIFE." Border Bullies. Thats all they are. Americans are all leaving for Canada. That is the problem, the troublesome ones are probably more likely.

  • i went 2 college in lima ohio thats awesome bro i kno this is old but thats still kool haha

  • is it they same for driving a car?

  • hey sean.. in a future video could you explain about the A8A form that is needed if u are pick up a load close the the border... thanks

  • It's got to be a pain in the ass now that the US requires passports

  • Do you drive through the Auburn/Federal Way, WA area? Thats where I live. But Im in Phoenix now. I leave tomorrow with my new trainer. Hopefully all goes well between us. Lol. I have never tried shifting without using the clutch. How do you usually shift?

  • Yeah, I drove thru there quite a bit when I was living in BC.

Once you get some experience, you'll be off the clutch too. Everyone I know doesn't use it but to start and stop

  • what truck are you curently driving? Do you ever come into Olyimpia ,WA or Shelton,wa?

  • Right now I'm not in a truck. I have been thru there quite a bit in the past

  • hey my names travis it's cool to see truckers on youtube. when i finish high school im gona start driving

  • it sounds hard with the paper

  • HELL YEAH! everett!!!! i was born there and lived in darrington for 13 years

  • wat kind of tractor do u drive

  • the song that is playing from 0:01 to 0:47,

wut is the name of the song?

  • is it hard traveling across borders

  • We as men need to be borderline einsteins rater then full fledged ones.

    Cheer's,

    Sean

  • It is a hard life, but its how you want it to be. Like if you dont have a family, its good.

But most people do and being away from your family from months at a time can be a bitch.

  • by te way its hard but also very nice job you see hole ..... dont no wher you life:P but you see lot of state,s or countreys

  • Is being a trucker a hard life? I want to go to college, then go to trucking school, but my parents say trucking is a hard life. I'm 16

  • hi i,m 15 but my dad is a trucker in europe

and yes somthime its a hard life

long way down not every day home if you whant tho no more ask me:P

    cheers

  • y would he want to no

  • i know and i gife him a time ago a answer:P and he gife me answers back(A)

  • oh shit, and I almost forgot, how is Trans-x anyhow, I see their trucks and hear the advertisments, but any info on the pros/cons from a fellow trucks would be much appreicated, thanks.

  • I agree with you on your point about Can Customs. I've had my card since they brought it out, never used it since.

I've heard mixed things about Trans-x. I know when I drove for Trinity Transport out of BC, we had a TX contract... it was utter bull crap, but I don't know what it would be like working for them directly

  • well

  • For good or for ill, I can't help but notice that Canada Customs, while just as through....tend to be a bit slower with things like paper work, or implimenting new systems seemlessly as the american side. the FAST program is kind of a joke....though it's been about a year since I went down there, maybe it's improved.

  • never give up mam!!!

  • A non middle eastern Canadian trucker. LOVE IT!

  • your videos are awesome, was always curious about the shifting on the 18 speed trucks

  • I always crossed at SweetWater, going up in the Alberta.

Driving a tour bus at the time. They would always come on board and sniff around until the boss man came out from his room in the back to sign some JohnHancocks.

I was the Drummer also. I would let Ole Red get some shuteye from time to time.

    Good Times.

  • Nice Video, nice Music, crossing borders is sometimes ONE HELL of a freaking job!! some dudes have to be a pain in the ass to you, but it protects your nation, country against everything illegal

  • I'm an American Truck driver. I hate going to Canada because of the B.S. we have to go through with Customs. This was the same before 911. I think you guys should drive up there, and we should stay here. Do a boarder swap like Mexico. Because some of the Eastern Canada drivers really suck! The American border people treat you like a person. Canada boarder people act like were all scum.

  • That's your opinion. As a Canadian, I get the run around entering the US. Your border protects YOUR land, as Mine does MY land. Drivers EVERYWHERE in north America have good and bad, again, iyo.

  • @Richweir1 try me and my wife at the Niagara Falls, NY border crossing into Canada. That I am "BANNED FROM CANADA." How the fsck do they expect to keep relationships with Americans healthy in any respect? Idiots.

Going to try to go back through again, see what happens. But alas they will probably turn me around again.

  • @Richweir1 fuck you

  • Back in the late 1970's my friends and I would drive 5 minutes here from Canada to Blaine, Washington where we would hang out the local Denny's. We did it so often that eventually US border guards would recognize us and would never say a word. They'd just wave us through or ask "where you going today?" Amazing how 911 changed all that.

  • Lol, yeah I know the denny's. We did much the same. We hung out almost every week at the old Izzy's pizza in Bellingham. Unfortunatly now the borders tighter than before, it's not the same

  • is there a certain age that you gotta be to start driving big rigs??

  • in canada the age to drive big rigs is 18 i believe.

  • thx for your tutorial eskimo they are always helpfull i really want to become a truck driver :)

  • PART B Original I am Belgian / European. Right now no any lawyer or guy from immigration can tell me when i may back enter the USA. Here it is craziness, my wife tried everything to get me back in, i was almost killed a few weeks here in Rio de Janeiro, I lived over 3 months in hotels, i gave up everything 2 years ago in Belgium, even have no family there, So... my only question is, how to get back in to the country i love so much 'my' USA. Alex x

  • PART A I wish it was so easy to enter the USA , am married in America, lived there for 15 months (very happy), i have no legs, one arm, but what we didn't know was when you are in the usa waiting on your papers, then you may not travel out of the usa without permission, we did, went to sri lanka, when we came back we went through NY, there they hold my passport, let me back in for only 6 weeks, so i traveled back to NY after a few weeks to pick up my passport and traveled further to Brazil.

  • id like long distance driving, i LOVE driving- i had a delivery job a while back, listened to AM radio, had my music when i wanted it. i just like driving so it seems like a no-brainer to me to get into trucking. sleepin in a truck wouldnt bother me, bein away from home wouldnt much either these storys of companys screwing their employees really turn me off of the idea, obviously local work would be easier to find a good company. whats been your experience with drawbacks like this?

  • i want to get my class 1, how does someone get started though- obviously get your licence but these licencing companys dont give u much experience, and all the ads i see for class 1 drivers require atleast 1-2years experience. so how does someone build that time? also, iv heard horror storys of long haul trucking where they send u far away then u end up waiting for days for a load to take back. or they only give u so much in a month to reduce what ur paid so u quit, new drivers are cheaper.

  • Neither the Canadian nor US customs would hold you up for any amount of time because of a picture. Chances are, you acted like you were hiding something, were rude to them, smelled of illegal substance ect. I've crossed many times, with and with out others. Not once did I see either country hold some one up without justifiable cause

  • at 00:15 a 53 foot trailer? just wanna know because I'm getting as much info as as I can, I've been feeling like wanna be a truck driver, is feeling like this for about a week or 2 or so good enough wanting it bad enough? I wanna be in a truck on the road lol.

  • 1 day i'll be driving in canada and the U.S. also. Untill that time i'll be learning from your video's.

(is a pre-trip video an idea?)

    Greets from the netherlands !!

  • Great video to watch. Thank you. Stay safe.

  • I believe it is better if sent fax paper work to the border 4 hours ahead prior enter border to make it process quicker ?

  • They say no later than an hour from crossing. I usually do it as soon as I have the papers, wether its an hour a way or four days. I've had it where I waited, gave them two days notice, and they never did them up

  • DETROIT is the worst bridge to x.I got held up in homeland security warehouse for 7 hours with a load of paper, and it's the heavyest crossing in north america for trucks.

  • oh..thanks

  • i think u 4got to set ur parking brake at the border

  • They don't want you to set your parking brakes when you pull up, you just pick it out of gear and shut it down

  • Gotta love it when the broker fails! A while back i called to check my pars and they said, "Clear to cross any time". I get there and it hadnt cleared the Ministry of Agriculture yet and got sent back to A.B.C. in Detroit to get it straightened out. It may behoof drivers to get the transaction number when calling the broker as it may aid in finding where problems originate in a situation like you had, but im american and like breathdoctor said, us rednecks dont know our ass from our elbow. 5*

  • this is what my life will consist of after high school

  • same here, but you gotta be 21 so im joinin the marines

  • Same here?

  • i was talkin to somebody else, can't remember who lol

  • Wow, what a hassle for truckers... meantime, illegals & potential terrorists just walk through from the North and South. Our borders are like a sieve, meanwhile we're watched and tracked every move we make... I guess that's a whole different topic. Thanks Sean, good info.

    Woody

  • lol i crossed the border quite a few times w/dad quite a few times. never had a problem. some of em have a good sense of humor. the funniest thing is non FAST approved trucks being forced through the FAST only lane!

  • You should make a video to show what happens when you go to the boder crossing station with no papers... it's wild and I love it.

    'Hello come in'

  • Hi Sean keep up the good work we really enjoy all your videos, Just Great to see how our brothers over in USA do the job keep it up Gordon SCOTLAND UK ( 10 10 )

  • careful there mate I don't think you're supposed to have a camera running at border crossings. Good video though. thanks

  • Once I was using a phone before xing into US at the booth waiting in the line ,as soon as the brother in front of me rolled I went in to officer window n put my phone on hold while rolling in . I got pulled in for x-ray n dock inspection , they told me no one can use a phone or a still or a movie camera on any border xing . Its like filming or giving out information on a sensitive security area. Apart frm dat this is a great video pls never use phones or video's on borrder xings drive safe.

  • It 's not as simple this.Sometimes customs still pulls you over and wants to search the trailor.Which means you have to sit there and wait. Not to mention you get to the border and theres a 2 hour waiting time because of a backlog of traffic and then the company doesn't want to pay you for that time...which is bullshit.Your time is money.

  • yeah that is bullshit seriously but now it should be easier because of the rising gas prices should keep the vacation seekers out of there well besides the ones with money i wish i had more. lol.

  • You would be surprised. Some people will still drive their cars because their so lazy they don't want to walk or ride a bike regardless of gas prices. But I hope your right

  • Have you ever thought about being an instructor at a school?

  • people have been asking me that lately

  • Sounds like border crossing from europe into swiss. As the swiss r not full members of europe. We have t2 or t1 forms depending if transiting swiss or delivering into swiss.

  • Hey, wait dude! We are no member of the European Union, does that mean we don't "belong" to Europe? If so, thanks very much -.-.

  • Not to sure how it works but swiss have border where you have t forms and have to clear customs. Whereas rest of europe you don,t. Something to do with european union, and economis, trading partners or something.

Whether you belong no idea, wasn´t meant to be insulting or whatever

  • how much does a company driver earn pr year in Canada and USA? here in Norway we own about 300.000 kr nok thats about 35.000 us dollar about.

  • Driver's usually make $0.32 per mile (CANADIAN). A 3000 mile trip can make the driver about $960 (one way). The more miles you drive, the more money can be had - simple as that!!!

  • Driving locally is way better.More money, home everyday, more days off, less paper work,no crossing borders,no sleeping in truck,no showering at truck stops and better sleep.

  • Long haul is dogshit. If you drive locally you get paid by the hour so you don't have to worry about getting stuck in traffic, accidents,or bad weather.Companies are desperate for drivers for long haul because people keep quitting...and for good reason.

  • Thats low money. If you divide that $960 up by 6 days which is what it would take you to drive 3000 miles(6 days x 500 miles per day)your making only $160 per day.And if you take that $160 per day and divide it by the 10 hours your working probably each each day your only making 160 divided by 10 = $16 per hour.. which is peanuts. You could drive a garbage truck locally and get $20 an hour and be home everyday and have 2 days off everyweek

  • thanks for info, any viewer know anything about truboys frieght international .they are in hamitin

  • you have good videos ,i have had my cdl for 2.5yrs been do canada ,is that all the paperwork you need for the border . but nice videos you put out keep going

  • on average yes. I've never pulled live stock or meat across, there may be more for that, but general frieght, thats it

  • It is interesting to get a driver's prespective. thank you

  • how long does it take to become a fully licensed driver?

  • My schooling was about 60 hours on road and 20 in class. Unfortunatly, most schools teach you just enough to pass the DOT road test, and not how to drive proporly.

  • hi seansuth,i wanted to be a driver like you... i wanna know something from you that you didnt learn from school but you think its really important to know as truck or trailer driver

    thanks!

  • this is what my life will consist of after high school

  • dude...

  • i travel to canada alot. are you canadian?

  • half yeah. my other half is american

  • Was nice to see that sean thx.

  • Do you get paid for that 2 hours plus you had to sit there? If not I'll stick to just driving in the U.S.I heard in Canada too they don't let you have pepper spray or anything to protect yourself.

  • there is a border crossing pay that you get for sitting for two hrs. after that, some companies will pay an hourly rate after that. As for the spray and stuff, we can have them, but have to be licenced I believe. however crossing the border, either way, you can not cross with "weapons".

  • Well at least you get some pay for waiting.Thats good. You should be payed for your time.Your videos are always decent by the way with good explanations.

  • When I used to go abroad the borders were pretty straight forward. They all spoke good English aswell. The Worst one was coming back into the UK as none of them spoke English? LOL!!!!

  • That is because all the English for leaving enmass, while the whole third world pours in.

  • Oh ya...have had that happen lots...I agree..sucks big time. Use to run from Rexdale Ont. to Calgary AB. and would always in-tranist through the States. Always had to make sure EVERYTHING in that trailer was on the in-transit manifest...even if there is an empty skid. Big fines if not there!!

  • good show Eskimo

  • Cool! My uncle drives an old Mack water truck in the backroads of WV. That thing is rugged and loud but it runs! Good job.

  • you also didn't say anything about calling ahead for your ACE entry numbers before crossing into usa?

  • good video, ur just lucky they customs officer didn't notice you videotaping, they would prolly not be too happy about it.

  • great film again sean.

    stay safe

  • man the just looks like a headache trying to get across

  • What do you mean when you are talking about dynamiting the brakes?

  • setting the park brakes

  • Oh okay, just never heard the term before. Thanks for the reply

  • you mean you aren't going to blow them up? What fun are you. :p

  • Excellent video on crossing borders Sean! I'll know what too look out for, what to do and expect. Thanks for making this vid man! 5*'s

  • good stuff, like the editing you did in the begining. Hate crossing the border, just did the same run you did then from everett to sacramento, now im goin home. LOL see ya bro.

  • Sorry, its " Border". I cross every night, twice.Detroit. Its too bad the Amereeeeecans dont know their ass from their elbow. Years ago, I had a load of short, steel tubes, and the dickheads swore up and down to me (to the point of threatening me if I didnt shut up trying to tell them what I REALLY had on) I had Horseshoes on. Why dont you warn people of the asswipe-redneck-attitude pricks that work there. You, know, the ones that " think " they own the dam world.I've only been driving 23 years.

  • You arent kidding about the detroit side of the ambassador. Of the 3 ports of entry that i use, detroit is the worst. Seems like the only ones that get across with out a ration of shit are the pakis...swipe the fast card and roll. Not all of us americans are shitheads, alot are, just not all of us.

  • I think that youtube failed to insert this in the proper place, it was meant to be a reply to breathdoctor and his horseshoe story about amereeeeeeeecans being asswipe redneck whatever and not knowing our ass from our toenail or something like that

  • Hey another great one i was on a school trip the other day and we turned around in the challenger motor freight terminal in Cambridge Ontario, the only reason why i said this is because in the theme song your backing up and i saw the challenger trailer and i didnt know if you still worked for them

  • is your phone a blackberry?

  • nope, its not even my phone, its the company cell

  • I hate that lube part!!!!lol

  • Great job as always. I am going to stop being shy and start posting more.

  • Sean, good job on the video. I made the mistake of setting the brakes one time when I went across and was given the reason why they don't like it. It's as you said. The noise factor. The guy in the booth went into a story about how he had to go to the doctor because of it. At that point I started shaking.:-)

  • lol, butt cheeks clinch? ready for the lube?? lol

  • Hi sean, I have been watching some of your vids and they're just great! I'll make sure I see your other vids so I can learn as much as I can about trucking! Hopefully I will work on getting me a CDL this summer! Can't wait! I'm from Morocco by the way, an ocean away from the states :)

  • Awsome vid sean, keep up the great work...

  • u driving for trans X now or u with the same campany with the silver frieghtliner ?

  • still at trinity, pulling for transx

  • And to think I always thought Boarder was spelled border.

  • Thanks for the info. Another 5* tutorial! Border crossing looks like a pain in the ass thanks to homeland security. I guess it's a necessity after 9-11. Be safe out there. Pete.

  • i appreciate it for taking the time to make this vids for us sean, thank you:)

  • sean, VERY IMPORTANT WHANT TO KNOW QUESTION: WAS THIS LOAD HEADING TO MEXICO???
