  • jim ed said the can opening sound was a dr pepper instead of a beer.

  • @dizzypilots1 now that's a fun bit of trivia!

  • The first time I heard Jim Ed Brown I was working second shift at an aerospace factory in California. We used to hang at the county bars after midnight. It was lots of fun in the day.

  • @70sgirly Isn't it something how we have such strong memories connected with certain songs? And your memory of hanging out at the county bars seems to synch up right with the theme of this song! For me, even though I just learned of this song a few years ago, it reminds me of times when my folks would take us on these long car rides through Wisconsin- lots of country scenery- and they'd have a country station playing on the radio. Those were good times! Thanks for your words here!

  • Loved this song when I first heard it in 1968 and have loved it ever since.

  • @TheMel1950 Hello Mel! I'm with you! This song just doesn't have any kind of an expiration date- it's the kind of song that sounds good today and forever. Thanks for a fine comment!

  • @tomovox 44 years and its not out of date!!

  • @hoss73ford1 nope!

  • my grandpa used to listen to this before he died and i started crying

  • @insaneluke99 Music can be so powerful as far as bringing back memories and changing our emotions. I have songs that make a good day better, make me a bit sad, or shake me right out of a blue funk. I too have a song that reminds me of my grandpa- the memories of those times are so strong whenever the song is playing. I hope this one will bring back memories of good times with your grandfather.

  • @tomovox the thing is that i never even met him he died way before i was born and my dad told me alot of funny stories about him and alls where he would go is the river fishin and trapin.my dad told me he was a good guy to.

  • @insaneluke99 my grandma actually went on a date with him once.

  • @arkee71 wow! now that is very cool!

  • @tomovox yeh its totally true...im from south arkansas...and she was extremely beautiful in her youth....she passed away 2 yrs ago...and i felt like someone tore me in half...i didnt handle it very well at all...but time has helped...i was very close with my grandma...and as far as i know this story is 100% true...anyway hes a great talent

  • @arkee71 I'm really sad to hear about your grandmother's passing. There's no doubt in my mind she was a great person. My family is from Arkansas too, and actually I lost my grandma about five years ago. I had started getting a lot closer to her as I got older and I'm glad. I found out she used to play baseball with her kids on the farm! I had no idea, lol! Well, I know it's hard to loose someone- nobody ever handles it well, so you're not alone there.

  • @arkee71 I love this song and hope to learn and hear more from Jim. And I'm glad you shared this about your grandma here!

  • @tomovox thanx

  • REAL DEAL country music! Not because it's old, it's just GOOD MUSIC!!

  • @mylescranford That is an excellent comment! When music is done right and if it's good, it always stands the test of time. Thank you very much for your comment!

  • @mrsbelcher1987 I'm completely with you on that point!
