what you should do is cut up an old worn tire, then screw/glue it onto the bottom of the wheels for better traction. it works great!

I have modified my son's hurricane by connecting two 12v power wheels batteries in series, however after 10 min it shuts down by what I assume is a fuse that detects heat... After waiting 5-10min it's back to running like a bat out of h#@%. Do you have this same issue or did you find a work around... Could you let me know what to do if you had success in getting this worked out... Thanks in advance for the help and awesome job with your son's jeep...

Did not have those when I was young..

You might want to cut the battery comp. out "tub it" & install the new series of leak proof marine/auto batteries. Canadian Tire has them,..& I'm sure other auto jobbers do also.

Snowmobile or Motorcycle batteries are roughly the same size,..& have more current...E-bike battery would be suitable also..(The current supplied varies)

I used to 12V SLA (sealed lead acid batteries). Look up 12v sla battery in google and you'll get about any configuration you want. Can probably find 24v too. I ordered mine somewhere off the internet, but can't remember where.
