***sigh*** Kathak was the reason why I wanted to go to India. Kathak was the reason why I WENT to India. And Kathak is the reason why I want to go back to India... I love India, and I miss it so much.
ohhh my god....i was a fan of Akram always and after that piece with ustaad gee....man i want to be just like him graceful, talented, and simply brilliant..... All i can say Subhaan allah.
does anyone know what the video of zero degrees where akram khan and sidi larbi are mirroring each other? (they are sitting down cross legged and talking about a passport)
very nice. I like your dance; Hope we can do music together in near future. I am often in Brussels --now may to july20th; There is lot of scope for tabla player to play with Kathak
I have learnt with Pratap and hence talking from experience. I have heard from other students as well that he just takes money off them and teaches nothing. He is a brilliant dancer but not a good teacher. Akram is fantastic.
The guru/disciple relationship is such an ancient tradition. I totally understand the ' no democracy' rule. Like Zen,this is part of a direct transmission of knowledge and insight.
Pratap is an amazing teacher! Very dedicated...!! And although Akram is younger and more at his peak, there is no way he would have become this excellent had it not been for Guruji Pratap. And a very kind and humble man as well. All respect to both of them.
yes please post the second part - this was wonderfully educational. He has a book out that I so wish I bought about Kathak - sold in the Nat'l Theater bookshop if anyone's wondering... :)
I am a die-heart fan of him... simply awesome
