  • How long range how many kilometers?

  • I have managed to get the LPD69 channels, but can't get High and Low power settings on this band, what am I doing wrong? I can't check the output power either.

  • hi simon I've been looking at the base capm 446 uk model and it is almost double the cost of the xt511 version my question is do they both have the same frequencys AM/FM and pmr?? and also which on edoes the 3 watts because I cant see the uk version doing it??

    thanks Charles

  • So I have a question, I have the XT511 Basecamp, are these mods applicable to that version or only the 446? If not for use for the XT511, any idea where I might find mods for the XT511?

  • @illyounotme Different software inside sadly so will not do the same mods although yours comes with the higher power option i understand? So, not really any mods as such. The board is the same just the programming different and the frequency ranges

  • @simonthewizard Thanks for the answer. Yes I sort of had the feeling this was not really going to work for the xt511, from my research, but figured worth asking. Never know what might find out.

Yes the xt511 does have a hi low power already, as they boast "As high as legally allowed". LOL

I definitely like the xt511, and bet the 446 is pretty similar in performance after the mods.

The tough part is more than half the internet searches for the xt511, end up being about the 446.

  • Thanks for the reply! I ended up getting the basecamp only because it meant not having to carry another am radio separately!

    One morequestion...the manual states that 'L' 'is 10mw and 'H' is 500mw... not 500mw/3W.

    Any ideas?

    M.

  • Thought I'd answer my own question in case someone else had the same one!

    (JUMPERS 1234, O=OPEN, C=CLOSED)

    OCCO: 3W/500mW (PMR/LPD)

    OCOC: 500mw/10mw (pmr/lpd)

from: scanman.nl/modificaties/Midland%20Base%20Camp%20446.pdf (rest of the combinations are there too!)

time to get the soldering iron out and do some closing :P

  • question... how quickly does this radio scan? I'm driving across the sahara, and need to decide between this one and a Mt5050... any advice?

  • @binaryAdmin Honestly, MT5050 had quicker scan and battery life

  • @simonthewizard Thanks!

  • IS THAT MY ONE

  • You can have it sure Mick, but cannot let it go for free as was expensive. But sure, want it then its yours of course

  • home next week LL me

  • home mon/tue/thu/fri

    next week ok

  • You got one now, WOW must be one of the first ones. Don't mod it mind!!

  • So, the easiest way. Open the radio, there are 4 rings inside. The first is open and following 3 are sealed. From the left, 1 open 2 closed 3 open 4 open and you have 69LPD channels 3w and 24ch PMR with 3w... How is that?

  • Its easy !!!! A little like the Intek MT-5050....Thanks

  • Welcome, thats the mod. Found on the left handside of the chip, same links as with the Intek and also almost the same mod as with the G8 from Midland Alan also for the same effect

  • excellent, are you going to tell use where to find the mod?

    thanks

  • "Blá, blá, blá, blá..." ...funny.

I guess you can tell us how to have it mod to have LPD and 3W ? If possible please do so.

Anyway. when are you going to review it ? I would like to see it work under a real communication situation.

    Thanks once again !
