This was my favourite film when I was seven. I used to come home from school and watch it everyday. Me and my sister still do that 'ah-whew' he does when he's finished coughing and the 'meh-wooh' when he's doing his milk round!
Sir Norman Wisdom, a legend all on his own. Throughout his films it was always portrayed that he was the loser, but always at the end Norman came out the winner. Pure comedy genius and this is his best film of all time. Like you Spicygaga, when I am down, bung a bit of Norman on and the day gets so much better :)
@vrouwkje Hi Vrouwkje, i also like the scene where they eat the drugged apples, that made my eye's water LOL! I have the boxset of all his films and its a treasured possession.
Norman Wisdom was one of the few comic genius's this country has ever produced. His comedy timing and slapstick puts most so called comedians to shame. Thank you Norman for all the joy and laughter you have given us over the years. You will be missed by so many and we will never see the like again. RIP and god bless you sir.
Until SKY NEWS showed the tribute last night, I'd forgotten just how funny the running tee shot was! Appropriate on Ryder Cup day! Almost as funny as Norman falling down the stairs at the start of The Early Bird when he grabs hold of the wallpaper! Genius and never to be repeated!
talcumpowder1000-yes totally unfunny scene ( i would like to know what clips you do find funny in any scene or film ) but when the Vicar ( the great Norman Wisdom- who you do not appear to Know of ) is in the bunker it SO reminds me of my late father it brings a smile to my face.
Jerry Desmonde is excellent. Les Mesurier his usual dapper self but the one playing the vicar is just plain irritating. The comedy just doesn't work here because stalkers and vandals are simply not funny. Added to this the whole thing is a rip off of a much funnier Sid Fields sketch (Which also included Desmonde). I just spend this whole sketch feeling sorry for Jerry Desmonde. Had that been me I'd have punched Wisdom up after the first golf bag was vandalised. He doesn't deserve such treatment
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. MISS U SO BAD NORMAN!!! ... TOTAL LEGEND. END OF STORY. I LOVE THIS PART OF THE FILM, I NEARLY DIE EVERYTIME LOL XXXXXXXXXXXX

Hi Dave,
Did you know there's a channel of Sir Norman Wisdom with a lot off his films?
The scene in "The Early Bird " when "Nellie" his horse lies in bed with him is
hilarious and gives me abdominal pain with laughter.

RIP Norman Wisdom. Best scene he ever made and still has me laughing. A window to a time of innocence in British Society sadly lacking these days.

@ur2hotgurl Bit of an implausible sketch. Not many jokes either. Compares badly to the heights of greater artists like Chaplin and Jaik Campbell
