For everyone who doesn't know what really happened...Bailey was NOT the one driving in this accident. There were 5 girls in this accident, including Bailey && Meredith was the one that was driving.
Since these girls were cute cheerleaders everyone is saying it is such a lose of life. I bet if the truck driver they hit was texting there would have been hell to pay if he caused the wreck. But since they are girls it is ok for them to be texting while driving endangering others on the road. At least her stupidity took her off the roads permanently.
Its very tragic but lets not gloss over her actions because people should learn something from thisawful tragedy. If you don't recognize what devastation was brought forth to numerous families by her actions then what prevents other from acting just as irresponsible while driving? She didnt even have a full licence, hopefully the insurance company will have looked after the other families who suffered such extreme loss, even though in many ways it can never be repayed.
but all I could do is sit and Pray- I prayed for Baileys Family and Friends
and then I prayed for Bailey again- Cherish the memories, all the good times you shared - I know in my heart, Bailey is honored to see all of you who cared- Let the memory of Bailey's life bring us strength, courage and hope- Live life with joy, as Bailey did each minute- I sat to write to Bailey today -
dont use your cell and drive morons of the world.. this is what can happen to you, burned alive in your car.. poor girls, that is an utterly horrible way to die, all because the stupid driver had to be careless and text while driving.. people are just stupid, they dont take the dangers of driving seriously.. and this is what happens..
this girl and her 4 best friends were headed to her cottage for a night, 5 days after their high school graduation. as bailey ( the girl in this video) was trying to pass another car, she hit an oncoming tractor trailer head on. all 5 girls died :-( they were best friends.
This is not a right way to comment on a video like this my mom happened to know the driver of the car Bailey Goodman as i met her once myself so please be respectful
i hope family and friends of the girls are coping i cannot contemplate what they are going through it was a tragic ACCIDENT-i think of these young girls often -south coast aus
I'm writing this on the one year anniversary of the world losing Bailey. May your soul rest in peace and may the lord bless your family with the knowledge that they will some day see you again.
OH I think the Van in front of her didn't have to speed up to make passing more difficult. Happens to me all the time someone going 10-15 miles slower than the speed limit and then when you pass they speed up which Im sure contributed to the accident. I doubt she was texting while passing that would be next to impossible
no what happened was she passed and was safely back in the right lane and then her phone recieved a text message, (its not clear if she was texting or someone else was using her phone) a few seconds later, a text message was sent out, and then she unexpectedly swerved into the ther lane and hit the tractor trailer. the tractor trailer driver was not at fault, and if i remember correctly he was qouted saying that he would have died instead of the girls, if he could.
Mr. & Mrs. Goodman, I am so sorry about the loss of Bailey. She was such a beautiful and loving young lady. ex In our hearts, Bailey has left a void that can never be replaced. Perhaps the best way remember, to cope and to heal, is to do what the five were doing on Tuesday, June 26th, and would be doing right now if bad luck or fate hadn't interceded - LIVE.!
Hi I just wanted to comment and let whoevers concerened know that these girls were included in an episode of "Dr Phil" I cant remember exactly what the main topic of the episode was, but there was a yong woman on there whom was speaking about "cell phone texting"and she brought up these girls and stated that the reason they were in this accident was because they "just werent good texters"believe it or not.
I am a resident of Greece, not too far from Fairport. I think this is a terrible tragedy for these young, beautiful ladies and I want to say how very sorry I am for their lives being cut short. Even though I never knew them, they were still special to many. God bless them now and God bless their friends and families. My heart goes out.
is it true that protesters showed up at their memorial service? i heard members of some church were going to show up and protest not at the girls but at homosexuals
yes. some group from oklahoma showed up. this group also goes to soldiers funerals and blames their death on homosexuals. i think that their website said some bad stuff about the girls too though. some people are so off base in this world. they think what theyre doing is right (the oklahoma people that is) but theyll just end up in he11
first i do feel bad for the parents, especially katies as her being an only child. it came out harsher then i intended. but i really doubt i am the only one in fairport who feels this way. i didnt care that they never paid attention to me. i did not find them attractive at all. all im trying to say is the truth on what others feel as well.
youlareammeyou: step away from the computer - your opinions are too ignorant and nasty for words. you are not the voice of others - you are only the voice of a bitter teen. this isn't about looks or popularity - five precious lives were lost.
I think that, unlike you, I actually knew and loved Bailey and she deserves better than to have all this negative banter linked to her tribute site. I was trying to be an advocate for her, but I'm just encouraging more callous and apathetic comments on your part, which was definitely not my intention. And if you respond to this, I won't see it, because your comments are not healthy for me or anyone else who adored Bailey to be exposed to - and I can't imagine why you don't care about that!
well obviously you are one of those d&d losers that hated life and should just be put on an island with all of ur emo friends. shut the hell up, dont go and say mean shit. because you had no friends and didnt interect with them. i bet you didnt even try.
Thank you. we appreciate your opinion but many of us are still grieving these girls and would appreciate our privacy. The only comments we are asking for on this site are those with sympathy. Thank you.
YOULAREAMMEYOU, maybe people wouldnt give a shit about you if you died because you're disrespctful and nasty. you should be lucky that you're able to go on with life. you're the only one in fairport who has this attitude. grow some friends and a heart. thank you
from what i heard they were already past the legal passing zone and were doing so illegally. and it doesnt matter if she took the proper courses, she was still driving with a restricted if they havent been filed yet. death by stupidity. texting didnt help either. and i also graduated with these girls. its bullshit how much attention they are getting. if it was me and my friends they wouldnt give a SHIT.
Dear YOULAREAMMEYOU I think that you need to grow up. I am guessing that they did not give you the time of day in high school and that is why you acting this way. You should be thankful that you still have your life you little wow is me drama queen
actually its very likely that bailey wasnt texting i use my friends phones to text ALL the time and how would you know how much attention you would or wouldnt get??
there could have been an animal on the road that she was trying to avoid, someone elses phone could have went off which startled her, or she could have gone off to the side of the road further than intended so in an attempt to get back in to the middle of the lane, she overturned. you really shouldn't say insulting things because you a) don't know if thats true and b) don't know who's going to see them because someone may have been close to the girls and been hurt by people like you (like me).
what if there wasn't an animal?what if she had simply gone closer to the edge of the road then intended and overturned trying to get back on? YOU DON'T KNOW!!
I was just posting a reponse to what you thought happened. I don't know why your alarmed by my response. Then if she can't stay on the road, don't drive. Maybe ask somebody else to drive.
I was alarmed because i lost someone that I loved so very much in that crash. I am still horrified of what will happen whenever I or another loved one gets into a car. I'm only 14 and this was the first time I've ever lost someone close to me, so your calling Bailey "brainless" hurts. Bad.
I never used the word "brainless" in either of my posts. If she was at the wheel and we all know she was; then what I'm implying is that she was controlling the car and ultimately, her decisions determined the fate of all on-board.
Well, thats funny because I recall you saying "Born without a brain". Now, I don't know about you but that could conceivably be turned into "brainless". Do you really think that she tried to kill her best friends? Do you really think that she meant to kill herself? Do you really think that she wanted her best friends in the other car to see them all killed? Do you really think that she wanted to leave us her questioning grieving upset and confused? I think that you do since she "decided" to that
Do you think a drunk driver meant to kill a helpess bystander and his or herseld? Do you think he/she really wanted to kill an innocent person? Do you really think he/she wanted to leave people grieving over the loss? The same applies. I'm not saying she was drunk, just showing you a comparison to your rebuttle.
That doen't work the same way, the drunk driver knew that there would be consequences to his/her actions. Bailey didn't think taking her friends up to her lake house would kill anyone. Or, for that matter have horrible consequences. So why, may I ask do you thnik it's an OK thing to call say that the deceased are "born without a brain", especially when you know that her loved ones are probably going to see what you have said? Have you ever even met the girls?
I'm guessing you've never been drunk. A drunk person has pretty much no idea what there doing, he/she doesn't know what he/she is going to do after she is drunk. And yes it does work the same way. I have to go and I don't feel like posting anymore on this video,
why?why? do you think that its ok to do make fun of deceased on a memorial video? Bailey was my only sister. and now i am an only child. we were going to go to california together this summer and now we can't. she was going to help me get ready for varsity cheer try-outs, and now i don't have anyone to practice with. and yet, you still continue to torment and believe that it is ok to say that my only sister was born with out a brain and she might as well be drunk! My sister wasnt like that.
Life isn't fair. I'm in no way poking fun at Bailey herself, just explaining my opinion and rationalization of what happened. An accident is an accident no matter how it happened. Accidents like drunk driving and swerving into oncoming traffic can be pervented.
you can't rationalize death, especially that of a child. when a grandmother dies, you miss her and you're sad, but eventually, you realize that it was going to happen soon anyways. but with a kid, you don't expect anything like that for 50 years! Not all accidents can be prevented i see how you are trying to figure out what could have happened, yet all i would want is the real truth, any sort of coverage. I'm guessing you've never gotten a phone call late at night- the kind NOONE wants
She could have initially swerved too far to the right because she thought that she had misjudged the distance between her car and the car she had just passed and she saw the truck coming. She then over-corrected and hit the truck head-on. She might not have been texting.
Masonb27 what is your deal? bailey was a 17 year old, wonderful, smart, beautiful girl who's life got cut short. is this really the time to judge her?? we're never going to know what really happened so you might as well shut up, and go get a heart. this is amazingly upsetting to everyone.
The police stated that her license was a resticted one and she shouldn't had been driving at night. I bet if that truck driver was talking or texting on a cell phone and crossed the line and hit them everyone would be up in arms and there would be hell to pay. But since it was a nice upstanding teen girl breaking the law is ok.
WRONG. A year ago Bailey completed ALL the required training for the license to drive when and with whom she was driving, as verified by the school and the driver's ed teacher. The paperwork hadn't been filed. She was probably NOT the person on her cell, because she was known to pass her phone to her friends when she was driving. I feel terrible for the truck driver and all involved. Unfortunately, accidents happen.
I just graduated with these girls. They did not deserve to die. Have you never seen an adult using a cell phone while driving? It's not like teenagers are the only ones doing it, and her parents say she had a regular license. But that is all beside the point, they are gone and we are grieving, not blaming people. Take your words elsewhere.
Bailey was a really good kid, and CNN, like most news organizations, was looking for something sensational, some action upon which to blame the accident.
I imagine there are few, if any, among us who can say that we haven't been in similar situations in our lives. Be respectful, please, of Bailey, all five families' tragic loss, and keep your negative and hurtful comments to yourselves.
Yeah it matters. They were tragically taken because of the drivers disregard for her main responsibilty DRIVING. Her ignorance killed everyone in the car. If I was that truck driver I would seek damages in court against her parents for allowing her to drive with restricted license. Tragic lose of live maybe for the other four. One less person on a cell phone driving is fine with me.
Dont believe everything you hear or read. She was a safe driver. The investigation showed that she stayed within the speed limit from departure to the accident, there was no drinking, there was no drug use, she had passed a car and was going 60 mph after the pass. There was no way to tell who had texted the message on her phone. She probably handed it to her friend in the front seat before she passed the car.
The odds of someone else texting from her phone is very very slim. How often do people use your phone to send texts. I bet not to often. But people need to make excuses to help them feel better about themselves. And lets not forget she was driving on a restricted permit. We have laws and regulations for a reason. If she had followed those guildlines she wouldn't have been on the road driving and wouldn't have killed herself and her friends.
um... actually my friends use my phone to text all the time, and i use my friends phones to text too. i can tell you for a fact that baileys friends used her phone all the time too.
actually if you had done any sort of research instead of skimming some major magazines article, you would know that the truck driver who did survive had said that if he could he would have died instead of the girls.
ummm... maybe because he is a VERY thoughtful, kind, and caring person, who didn't deserve to witness ANYTHING like what he had that night, but was being totally selfless by saying that. And maybe if you were from the area, or knew anything about the situation, you would know that there was no speeding or reckless driving. You would also know that it is EXTREMELY likely that she was even the one texting! Wow you know what i just thought of?? you seem to have the opposite traits of that driver!!
Ok...so I've thought it over and I'm sorry I made that post. I apologize to the family and her friends. I hope that post is removed, but lets not gloss over her actions because people should learn something from this tragedy. If you don't recognize what devastation was brought forth to numerous families by her actions then what prevents other from acting just as irresponsible while driving?
Guess she shouldn't been using the cell phone or driving at night on a restricted license. I blame the parents. Using her cell while driving is what most likely cause the wreck. As stated on CNN.
im sorry for your loss.. she was so beautiful

you can't rationalize death, especially that of a child. when a grandmother dies, you miss her and you're sad, but eventually, you realize that it was going to happen soon anyways. but with a kid, you don't expect anything like that for 50 years!

Although I may not agree totally with what Masonb27 is saying - this is a totally free and open forum
he does have a point -Because they were young , beautiful cheerleaders and sadly all died at one time
they become media darlings -I wish no one died ever
BUT life is that sad sometimes

Masonb27 ~ making such malicious comments on a thread linked to a TRIBUTE video 4 Bailey says it all ~ you are in no position to judge anyone!

Masonb27 4 years ago

Masonb27 how can you be so heartless.

Thankyou, that is soooo true about CNN.

Masonb27... Does it really even matter what caused it?? 5 beautiful lives were tragically taken. That is the focus along with remembering them
To the friends and families... these tributes are amazing.... My heart breaks for all of you and know that in time, healing will come.

Masonb27 4 years ago
Dont believe everything you hear or read. She was a safe driver. The investigation showed that she stayed within the speed limit from departure to the accident, there was no drinking, there was no drug use, she had passed a car and was going 60 mph after the pass. There was no way to tell who had texted the message on her phone. She probably handed it to her friend in the front seat before she passed the car.
sambf12 4 years ago
The odds of someone else texting from her phone is very very slim. How often do people use your phone to send texts. I bet not to often. But people need to make excuses to help them feel better about themselves. And lets not forget she was driving on a restricted permit. We have laws and regulations for a reason. If she had followed those guildlines she wouldn't have been on the road driving and wouldn't have killed herself and her friends.
Masonb27 4 years ago
um... actually my friends use my phone to text all the time, and i use my friends phones to text too. i can tell you for a fact that baileys friends used her phone all the time too.
hannahandmileyfan94 3 years ago
actually if you had done any sort of research instead of skimming some major magazines article, you would know that the truck driver who did survive had said that if he could he would have died instead of the girls.
hannahandmileyfan94 3 years ago
Why is that? The guy is now fucked up because some stupid, young cunt was texting while she was driving! Speeding and driving recklessly to boot!
thegoosebrain 3 years ago
ummm... maybe because he is a VERY thoughtful, kind, and caring person, who didn't deserve to witness ANYTHING like what he had that night, but was being totally selfless by saying that. And maybe if you were from the area, or knew anything about the situation, you would know that there was no speeding or reckless driving. You would also know that it is EXTREMELY likely that she was even the one texting! Wow you know what i just thought of?? you seem to have the opposite traits of that driver!!
hannahandmileyfan94 3 years ago
Ok...so I've thought it over and I'm sorry I made that post. I apologize to the family and her friends. I hope that post is removed, but lets not gloss over her actions because people should learn something from this tragedy. If you don't recognize what devastation was brought forth to numerous families by her actions then what prevents other from acting just as irresponsible while driving?
thegoosebrain 3 years ago
thanks
hannahandmileyfan94 3 years ago
Guess she shouldn't been using the cell phone or driving at night on a restricted license. I blame the parents. Using her cell while driving is what most likely cause the wreck. As stated on CNN.
