Ciao is slang throughout the WHOLE of Europe. It's like our 'see ya!', but for the whole of Europe. Even though 'ciao' is not German, they still use it as cya.

Although, being hillbilly's, they probably just said any European word they knew for 'goodbye' and just got lucky, seeing as the person would recognise it as cya.

Umm. Are you retarded? I can safely say in Germany, France, Austria and Poland, they 95% of the time use "ciao" instead of their equivalent for see ya. Ciao is used as a more friendly term, for family, friends or co-workers.
