Can sombody direct me to some music of this kind (like Abbba etc) I'm really loving the rythm and composition, i was loving it as a kid and I didn't know it, i gonna cry right now please help me :) It's like-a movie! Genius!!
I've seen Peter Lorre re-incarnated as a Maggot, a Mad Scientist, Edgar Allen Poe, Tweety Bird (!), a cartoon caricature, and (out of all things), a Chihahua. But a hanging lamp? That's new.
Creator of this show was genius. This is truly what you would call a "timeless classic", because as a kid I could watch it because of the compelling story, catchy songs, and lovable characters and now as an adult I can watch it because of the compelling story, catchy songs, and the depth of themes I did not understand as a kid.
My sister bought this movie recently on DVD (the last time it was released was 2003) and we used to be obsessed with it as kids. It's great to re-watch it fifteen years later and still know the words and lines.
@brightlights456X A "B" movie is a movie with horrible quality. Most B-movies are horror and porn movies. Both have terrible acting and both make you feel cheated out of your money. In this case they are referring to the horror movie.
@KingofPepsi Actually, it is Tony himself, Thurl Ravenscroft, doing both Kirby's speaking and singing voices. I always loved his beautiful bass voice.
@11marioboots, Kirby, the Vacuum sounds like Tony, the Tiger from Kellog's Frosted Flakes cereal, "Theeeeeey'rre Great!!" I wonder if it's him? I think so.
Anyhow, Kirby says: "I'm FOR getting out of here." (1:18)
2:06 (Can Opener/Lamp & a Shaver) is supposed to be comedianne Joan Rivers. I don't think Rivers did voice work for this. In the beginning of the movie, Air Conditioner was supposed to be Jack Nicholson. Good sound-alikes.
@KingofPepsi Yeah, that's Tony the Tiger, Thurl Ravenscroft (may he rest in peace), and when he says, "for getting out of here", he's basically saying he wants out, he's for it. The Mish-Mosh is actually a sound-alike. The Air Conditioner was played by Phil Hartman (may he rest in peace). He actually was inspired by Jack Nicholson, one of his characters from a movie he played in (I don't know which movie, so don't ask me).
@therealCrazyJake, What was your opinions of the sequels? ("Goes To Mars" and "To The Rescue") I have all three, but haven't watched the sequels yet. Although, I remember seeing "Mars" a long time ago back in 1998 somewhere . I remember it not being as good as the original.
@KingofPepsi I've always been interested in the whole trilogy (I guess you could say "as a whole"). However, I always liked the first one the best, it has the best animation, sharpness, and shadowing, along with storyline, wit, humour, and creativity. But, here's why the sequels are of different qualities than the first, is because they're written and produced by a different crew.
@KingofPepsi Unfortunately my response was too long to fit in just one comment, and by now, you're probably tired of reading, and thinking to yourself, "just answer my question, already!" Yes, I do recommend the sequels, if you haven't seen them, but before you watch them, be sure that you remember what happened in the first movie. Also, remember to watch "To the Rescue" before watching "Goes to Mars".
@therealCrazyJake, Wow, I never noticed "Goes To Mars" was released first but actually takes place after "To The Rescue". I looked it up, and you were right!!
I wonder why the chronological order was reversed? I was blessed and lucky enough to get "The Brave Little Toaster Motion Picture Soundtrack". My favorite is "Worthless".
@KingofPepsi The two sequels were out of order due to the "Goes to Mars" being finished before "To the Rescue", they were actually being made at the same time, but were finished and released in the wrong order. I've met the writer/director of the original movie, Jerry Rees, online. He's getting things together to make a true sequel to the original, starting where the original left off. It's going to be CGI/3D animated.
@therealCrazyJake, I'm probably the only person in the world that hates 3-D. I hate it, I can't stand it, it's annoying, and it's not worth the trouble.
I went to see the re-release of "The Lion King in 3-D". I don't get what the big thrill is. I felt like an idiot sitting in the dark wearing sunglasses just so I can see the action in a not-as-big-a-deal-than-it-really-is dimension. Now Disney is going to re-release more classics in 3-D in theaters.
@KingofPepsi No, you wouldn't because it's not that kind of 3D. The glasses aren't required, it's only the animation being "3D", meaning that it's a more advanced animation. Not the kind of 3D with the red and blue, blurry crap all over it.
@therealCrazyJake, Oh, yeah, I forgot that I also went to see the remake of "Clash of the Titans in 3-D". Once again, I felt like an idiot in the dark with sunglasses just to watch a special effect that I don't think is so special, but more of a nuisance than anything.
Ray Harryhausen's original "Clash of the Titans" was more mysterious, scary, and best. Although the remake's Kraken was awesome.
@therealCrazyJake, I'm excited to hear about a new "TBLT" film, but not so much about the CGI 3-D.
I'm sure "UP" would have been interesting in 3-D, but I just stuck with the regular 2-D because it's less than a hassle. The film is smeared and blurred when you remove the 3-D glasses. I will never understand what the big deal is.
I STILL don't understand that lamp/can opener/razor thing. Someone got too creative with splicing electronics together? (So she's like Frankenstein's Monster in a way?) She said it best, "(She's) a mishmash!"
@hikarinoryu The whole place is supposed to be symbolic of an insane asylum, she's the one that's the most screwed up, that's why she was kept in a box and had to be taken down specially.
@Haseo190, Not only an insane asylum, but more of a slaughterhouse. The human Parts Shop owner is like Leatherface from "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" for the terrified electrical appliances.
@Haseo190, You wrote, "she's (meaning the Can Opener, Lamp & A Shaver) the one that's the most screwed up, that's why she was kept in a box and had to be taken down specially."
- Not really. The box was lowered down to the floor as a stage for the Can Opener, Lamp & A Shaver. At 2:04 she is tossed onto the box, not emerges from out of the box.
@hikarinoryu, Yes, the Can Opener, Lamp & A Shaver is supposed to be comedianne Joan Rivers, although I don't think Rivers voice worked on this film. The human owner of the Parts Shop is like a butcher to cows for the electrical appliances. To the electrical appliances, the human owner is a madman. The whole Parts Shop is a slaughterhouse to them.
@SlumberCloud No, Ren & Stimpy was Billy West. The hanging lamp was played by Phil Hartman. I know this movie inside and out, but he does sound like him, so I see what you mean.
@Atheneastro Didn't know that, interesting. I think Billy West may be the best voice impersonator ever. I never knew they had someone else before Billy.
The thing about this movie is that since the appliances are living sentient beings, one of the main themes this movie revolves around is the desperate desire for survival. All makes for a dark and chilling atmosphere.
@Antichthonic This could be the result of a short-sighted rewrite.
Have you ever seen the whole movie? Earlier in this same scene, the hanging lamp gave him a bulb to replace the one he broke earlier in the film. Maybe this song was originally going to play BEFORE the bulb was replaced, and they changed it for some reason.
@perfectionless Wow I can't believe I'm not the only one. The blue fan used to scare the shit out me the most when I was little and still makes me cringe a bit now.
When did Hoarding become a thing? I bet Brave Little Toaster had something to do with it. It came out when I was 5 years old, and I know I didn't want to throw anything away afterwards :P
@randomandproudqueen Same here. I was so young when I saw this movie that I guess the darker elements just went over my head. But watching this now as an adult... damn!
I know, the wolf and the 7 kids was like my fav. story once, and now...Wow. Did you know 'Ring Around the Rosy 'is about the Black Death? And listen close to 'Rock-a-bye Baby. It's amazing what does and does not scare little kids.
The song is catchy, but it doesn't make sense. NONE of the lyrics seem to be connected to the situation. Vincent Price? FRANKENSTEIN? How do they incorporate into this bit?
@19TimiT91 They're analogies to how the owner of the place pretty much takes them apart and leaves the survivors as mismatched monsters. The song's essentially like: "We'll take real good care of you... then turn you into a monster show should you survive."
Jeez, this is a KID'S song? Its odd, when I was a kid I loved this... and didn;'t get any of the references. Now, I still love and wonder why this didn't scar me as a kid...
Oh my god, this was my favorite movie when I was a kid, but I'm watching this song and I'm effing horrified! XD ...I should go watch the whole thing now.
Brilliant line I never caught as a kid: the stove singing "it ain't home on the range." Clever.

@TrunkJunky That is a really good point! I never thought of that...it makes this all the more creepy

You know what's weird? I think I can see the villians from Arkham Asylum singing this song to scare the living heck out of someone working there.

@ShadowDJ94 have you seen the "villain batman tribute" in the related videos?

Thinking back, I can't remember a single song that wasn't completely unsettling.

0:24 is where the song actually starts :3

The song is catchy, but it doesn't make sense. NONE of the lyrics seem to be connected to the situation. Vincent Price? FRANKENSTEIN? How do they incorporate into this bit?
19TimiT91 5 months ago
@19TimiT91 From what i gather they were using movie references to describe what the fat guy was going to do to them.
like...it reminds me in a way of the opening song "Science Fiction Double Feature" form Rock Horror Picture Show
Ladonaru 5 months ago
@19TimiT91 They're analogies to how the owner of the place pretty much takes them apart and leaves the survivors as mismatched monsters. The song's essentially like: "We'll take real good care of you... then turn you into a monster show should you survive."

This movie had songs that I actually enjoyed. Take that mainstream Disney...

Jeez, this is a KID'S song? Its odd, when I was a kid I loved this... and didn;'t get any of the references. Now, I still love and wonder why this didn't scar me as a kid...
Tigerlady248 5 months ago in playlist favorites
@Tigerlady248 we usually don't get the referances until we're near our twenties.

I'm going to make sure my kid watches this. The defining movie of my childhood is definitely worthy of passing on to future generations
