  • This is animated storytelling at it's very best. No dialog at all...and none necessary; everyone can understand this story of greed run amok. This 'toon, and "One Froggy Evening" (Hello My Baby...) are two of Chuck Jones' very best efforts. It's easy to see why he was the king of "Termite Terrace", the WB animation department.

  • @danj1701d Not to mention, it highlights the incomparable skill of their musicians.

@MewJoy Exactly like Riki Tiki Tavi. :3

  • That squirrel is so cute. He looks like Riki Tiki Tavi.

  • I have not seen this cartoon for over 15 years; I have been looking and asking around because it was my absolute favourite. I had no idea what it was called. No one seemed to know what I was talking about. It just aired now on the Cartoon Network and I am SO happy to have seen it again! :D

  • Just simply funny.

  • coconut was like trolololololo

  • Thumbs up if you noticed the resemblance between the squirrel in this cartoon and the mongoose from Riki Tiki Tavi.

  • Even though there's color and sound, this is almost like a silent motion picture!

  • At the end of this short, there is a " Bee woop" sound which is what Bob Clamppet was famous for. Ironic that it's in a Chuck Jones short since he hated Bob.

  • Direct descendant of Scrat?

  • that Ice Age thingey my ass, this is the real deal

  • IMDb does say that this has a 1953 release date, but the Roman numerals say MCMLII, or 1952. I guess this stayed in the vault for a few months.

Anyway, this is the earliest Termite Terrace cartoon that I have ever seen that had Milt Franklyn directing the music. He didn't generally take over from Carl Stalling until 1958, but did direct the music for some cartoons between those two dates.

  • @OldsVistaCruiser - I stand corrected. Stalling directed the music, while Franklyn conducted the orchestrations.

  • Ice age squirrel.

Back before Cartoon Network bought them and decided that we couldn't watch certain ones any more because they were racist or not PC.

  • I can't believe I never saw this before! THANKS for posting it!

  • Lol and the poor squirrel doesn't even know that all that's in a coconut is milk, lol

  • Wow, just watching this you can SO tell Chris Sanders (Lilo & Stitch. Mulan, How to train your dragon) is SO inspired by Chuck Jones!

  • They got the motions of a squirrel down perfectly! I love this!

  • its clear that this is no ordinary coconut

  • how could a coconut not break while its bounceing on the ground like that

    That's stupid

  • @ShadowDragonFilms It's a cartoon. Exageration is what make them funny!

  • @ShadowDragonFilms If you didn't like the bouncing on the ground part...why aren't you complaining about the dynamite scene? xD

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you for uploading this video!
