Neither saw are made like they use to be. Stihl and huskys do not last as long now days because people were getting too many years of use out of them. Todays quality of anything sucks!
I work at a power equipment shop and we sell 240e all tue way to the 3120xp and I have to say that the husquvarna is a far better saw we get demos in and try and blow them up and even with straight gas they still don't seize up, cylinder get scared bad but still run, more tree services buy them. And FYI husquvarna just came out with a 562xp with revboost check it out.
Speaking of durability, we had a Stihl 440 for about 8 months. One day in the woods the saw started to make a funny noise and shut it off immediately. Took it to a Stihl mechanic he said bearings were bad. I tore into it after I took the cylinder off I noticed there looked to be a hair line crack in the crank. After I looked further into it and split the crank case the crankshaft was completely broken in half. Went directly back to husqvarna after that.
The stihl is more durable and much higher quality. Stihl is a professional saw. The qualitys remembered long after the price is forgotten that's stihl
I have to wonder why it is that forestry professionally aren’t the ones who usually get into heated debates regarding saws. It is usually the amateur user that can quote specifications, that has never paid his bills by working in the woods.
The reality is… that almost any modern “professional grade” saw, when used by a non-professional…is twice the saw they could ever use efficiently in the first place.
@MegaCat312 No way man....my sears electric saw with 216 foot extension cord would eat them both for lunch !!! Come on bro, just having some fun here !!!
Actually I heard Poulan bought Husqvarna. Anyway, I am one to pull for the "underdog" and for Christmas 2009, I git a Poulan 4218 AVX, And have had nothing but great service out if it. I have cut nearly 100 BIG loads with it...no problems at all! Either way, Husqvarna is cheaper priced than Stihl, and "Just as good"
um yeah go to walmart they sale them and every other store husky bought poulan to have poulan make all the mid range and home use saws in america i work for stihl stihl is number one for a reason
big difference in huskys and stihls is huskys burn up way faster and their residential and mid range saws are total junk made now by poulan that torq turbo shit just insures less life to were stihl makes top notch resi to mid to pro all new filter system and strato motors. yes husky makes a damn good pro saw but thats it and for efco save ur cash cheap jap knock off its utter junk like echo or redmaxs bigger saws total junk go stihl and buy loggers insurance ull never be unhappy
Out of all the all stihl's and husqvarna's I have own, stihl's are in the shop the most, or just setting because of problems. I have own both for many years. My last two purchaces were husqvarna.
stihl rules the ak 47 of chainsaws.....stihl last...last longer than any other chainsaw....husqvarna is just original ported overated piece of crap...greetings from chainsaw mechanic from europe :D
@PERPARSON rite you make husky therefore you think there better so it dont matter what matters is the tre cutters who are out in the feild with the thing not the guy makeing one kind
I timed them, 19.3 Seconds for the Stihl. 17.4 Seconds for the Husky.
I have both, the specs on bore and stroke are identical for both. The Stihl has 2 compression rings, the Husky has 1. Husky's rev up quicker and seem to cut a little faster. My 044 seems to have more lugging power than my 372 xp. Also it depends on how much you lean out the carb. and how sharp the chain is. Was the Stihl as sharp as the Husky? I have both but it seems like my Stihl is more durable, better built.
That 's a close call. i think the husky was a bit faster than the stihl. it also sounds like the husky did'nt bog down as much under load. u cant go wrong with either one.
17.40 vs 19.16, advantage Husky. Enuf said! I have two 372's ported by Ed Heard, and others that Ed did that have been stolen or smashed, and a muffler ported XPW of very low hours that I will send to Jashar to be my second saw he's ported for me, the other being my fastest of all 3 cube saws, the incredible 346 XP NE. Jasha knows his stufff!!!! I'll not be surprised if Jasha's ends up being the fastest, which could be tough as one of the 70 cc372's was ported for racing, or close anyhow
@rbtree ever run a 362 husky??? amazing fast.. damn i wish i still had mine. traded it for a 372. love it too in really big wood, but that damn 362 would out cut the bigger saws in average wood.. never gave any trouble. epa killed that saw for husky.
JTsLawncareService.... please please tell me you are kidding. It would take 5 minutes to get through this log with a craftsman. Then, it would be time to throw the saw away, and your hands and arms would be numb for a week. LOL
jtslawncareservice... If someones guna buy a saw why would they go to the toy store and buy a crapsman or black and decker.. lol thats the most rediculous thing i have ever heard.. a stihl or husqy could cut though one of those lego saws...
@PERPARSON I have run all of them, I was even husky certified as a mechanic. But the truth is that the Japs build a better saw!!! And an Efco saw from italy.(cs John deere models) Flat rock!!!! I feel that stihl and husky saws are good. Just over rated. Remember someone has to pay for all the advertisement. Thank you.
@JTsLawncareService u sound like a fuking faggot ass 12 year boy u do not know what the fuk u are taking about motherfuker grow some hair on your nuts
One They're called bars and two, 32 inch bars for those saws is standard length. A guy that doesn't know what hes doing with a saw that big and a bar too short can burn it up in nothin flat.
I've chased a little with a 460 stihl with a 32 inch bar and at times I wished it was a 36!
jashar good as always! Wish I had that husky when I was bumpin on some spruce a while ago!
both saws are good, I've run both husky and stihl and now a days ain't much difference. Just what ever a fellows use to.

So Husky took 17 seconds, Stihl took 17 sec. And as far as Ford and Chevy, well, Mopar actually rules!

Sweet. I did like my MS361 (light!) but my 372xp is more robust, more powerful. and the filter stays cleaner. And I can use more bar/chain combos.
