I'd check the safety deposit box of the funeral home director - this "profession" is notorious for removing AND keeping valuables from bodies before they're interred.
Oh please. In 33 yrs this guy has never seen a more heartless criminal? Don't rapist, murderers and child molesters get that title? Talk about overdoing. If you think about it, it'd be more heartless to rob the living. They'll actually miss the property. Dumb cop.
the jewelry was probably just for viewing at the 'fun'eral and was most likely to be removed by the family at the end of the service by the family prior to burial
What makes them think that the jewelry was the prime items intended for the thieves to take? What if they took that last? I like how the AP says and oh btw some flat screen t.v.'s a dvd player were also taken. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say they were taken first and was probably the main reason they broke in. Yes it's severely screwed up that they stole off of a dead woman but I don't think they broke in JUST to steal from her.
Well it depends. How many bodies are in the undertaker's? Are they closed caskets? How tightly are they sealed? It could take quite a bit of time to find a body with jewellery which was in an accessible casket. I doubt it was something they did at the very last minute.
Ok I'll but my hypothetical twist on things, What if the lady had lets say a nice watch and a ring. The guys break in, take the TV's Flat Screens dvd and cpu. Then the first guy to the morgue sees that and says "oh fuck we got robbed" He takes the watch n ring to pay for the TV, thus the insurance pays the family and the morgue is made a substantial gain. I think its more common to have a heartless mortician that some petty theft heister. Hell blame it on the MOB maybe they diid it
If I was so poor that i couldnt feed my family and i saw this dead woman with some diamond earings and bracelets i'd probably steal them sell them at a pawn shop and try and actually feed my family for a night or 2
@JDaKingman I don't i'm just saying some understanding of why they mightve done it... i'm not saying it was justified if they just wanted some extra cash but the police chief was like this is out right terrible i cannot understand why someone would stoop so low so i explained why :) i dont know if they were if they werent but w/e just pointing out the other side
@bl0000000000, get ya a fork... unplug your "crud" as you call your computer, stick fork in hole where you had your electronic "crud" plugged in. Happy New Year! One less idiot on the planet!

Better to steal from a dead person than someone alive.

Jewelry on dead people is typically FAKE jewelery. Who in their right mind would bury their loved ones with real jewelry. What a waste.
