  • Google "7Up UnCola The Tortoise and the Hare" to see a 7Up UnCola poster illustrated in 1969.

  • Thank you so much !

  • Shouting out from the BX :) Who is playing the acoustic guitar here?

this sounds sooo much like the ballance version,TONY,TONY,TONY!

  • HOT DAMN!!! Justin is amazingly gorgeous here!! Love him always!! ♥♥

  • it sounds exactly the same as on the record, how do they do that?

    beatyful anyway.

  • wow good shit

  • I love this video - I have the DVD. When I got it, that's all I played for what seemed like forever!

  • BTW, can anyone help me on this one. I have been searching for the song by The Moody Blues that my dad loved so much. The line i remember in it goes like this " Timothy Leary's dead, No,no,no,no he's outside looking in." If anyone can tell me the name of this song, I would surely appreciate it. I have been searching for a long time. I remember as a small child being so afraid of that song but i just have to have it now!! :)) Thanks!!

  • @twinklebear22

    Legend of a Mind

  • @5ec27b Thank you so much!! That was my dad's favorite song and it holds alot of memories for me. But I never got to find out the name since the last time I heard it I was a little girl and my dad left my life when I was 9. But I remember it scaring me because I thought Timothy was truly outside looking in our window!! lol Great memories though!! Again, thank you!! :))

  • @twinklebear22 , that's "legend of a mind" Sometime's it's called "Timothy Leary's dead" but search it, several YouTube versions are out there.

  • I ahve always loved this song!! I so grew up on The Moody Blues. Saw them in Concert back in 1993!! The best concert ever!! Their music is just timeless and so full of pure emotion and real feeling. They dont make music like this today!! Real music with real emotion. Such a shame really! Thankfully we still have the wonderful opportunity to listen to it today. This was my dad's favorite group ! He played it loud on our backporch speakers on the long summer nights. I miss those days. RIP Pop<3

  • I wish they did this song more live in recent tours...

  • First, let me say I a life-long MB fan. I was lucky enough to see them 2x back in the 70's. Seeing them in this video really turns back the clock. Unfortunately, there's no way the audio portion of these vids are accurate. Not to say these guys couldn't play live - they could and did but for this series of videos, they were playing to tracks live or the audio was enhanced afterwards.

  • Great Post!

    GreatTune!

Greatest group of musicians to ever come together as a Group!!

Cant wait to see them in June!!

    Thanks for this post.....

  • Such a great song! Should be in every athlete's motivational mix....

  • I'd like to thank the person behind this channel..

The Moodies..wow, so much creative talent and vision in every band member.

These guys shaped my childhood and my life. My favourite group of all time.

  • @RichNickers Hello Nick, I am the one who made the Moody Blues channel with the Moody Blues - Tortoise and the Hare (1970) a long with a lot of other videos of the Moodies. They are very creative lads and still going strong today, I had to share the love of they're music with all Moody Blues fans everywhere. :-) I'm glad you like them. Thanks. You have a nice day. Peace. Said Love Love,

    Joyce aka MoodiesFan

  • @RichNickers yeah thanks Joyce - much appreciated many times over-!!

  • The Moody's are in a class of their own....Greatest group ever!! Have seen them ( (maybe 14 times)and will again June 22 in Cincinnati... Stoked!

  • @CincyDirtyBird THEIR HARMONIES ARE HARD TO MATCH, VOCALS ON ALL THEIR ALBUMS IMPECCABLE, ONLY GROUPS TO COME CLOSE IN HARMONY WAS CROSBY STILLS NASH AND YOUNG AND YES

  • these guys.. continue to blow my mind! You dont need drugs, just alot of records from the mid-late 60's, a good guitar, and an amp with good reverb!

  • 0:40 to 0:50...VERY nice indeed!!

    Thank you!!!

  • the introduction remember me the intro of "Findlay Blues" from movie Continental Circus, by Gong

  • At :31 - :40 it looks like John leans forward to sing too early and backs off - Ray sees it and they both can barely keep from laughing.

  • This stuff is good enough, you don't have to be high to enjoy it. The best ever!

  • i wonder if corporations think people dont noticed play backs, this has an orchestra we cant see... an an acoustic guitar too

  • yes it certainly is album recording, but so is much of what is passed as live in the media!

  • They use imagination from an old tale and put it to good use musically, how is that for innovation. ;)

  • MoodyBlues

    TortoiseandHare

    DoubleDutchBust

    TortoiseandHare

    MoodyBlues

    Goeswitheverything-

    No Doubt about it-

  • clássico!!

  • I have this DVD, and while I enjoy seeing them in this era, this comes awfully close to what's-their-names faking it on stage. Notice Justin playing an electric guitar but the rhythm guitar is acoustic. This is exactly the track from the album, not a live performance. Too bad.

  • this is obviously looped from the original recording.

  • Great song! Great band!

  • herbs, and such! oh, gurl, you have me getting red here! lets just say that we had a cold ,dark basement in that uummm pharmhouse! very condusive to fungi..ok VERY red! cheeks warm? check! red face? check! sides hurting? double check! that WAS a long time ago!

  • i lived on a pharm? i'm busted here, aren't i? oh well..wait! behind you! (kirk flees, emptying pockets into flower beds , going down the street!) (wait! nothing IN pockets except house keys! d**n!)

  • one of my favs from the "pharm" epoch!

  • I have always loved this song. When I would read the story to my kids in the 80's, I would sing this along with it!

You know he's moving fast... :)

  • berrygirl1964,

    Sure, so right ahead.

  • berrygirl1964,

You're very welcome, but indeed I would have to quit my day job to spread the word about the reason for the backing tracks.

  • This one I have not heard before. Interesting, but the Moodys always are. Enjoyed it!

  • You can tell they are inspiried by Holy Music Space input+

  • They mention in the liner notes of the reissued first 7 albums that their multilayered studio recordings with everyone playing multiple instruments presented a problem with live performances, not to mention the orchestral accompaniments they used. Because they were just five people, they had to use backing tracks on some songs in live performances. They were really playing and singing live, but in accompaniment to recordings of themselves.

  • thank you TheStoneDuk your very welcome :)

  • great song, great vid. Thank you Moodiesfan, your efforts are much appreciated

  • It's not obviously lip sync... Where are the signs?

I see the cymbals moving, the tambourine shaking, the keys on the mellotron depressed. I'm watching Justin's hands and it looks right. Interestingly Justin's doing falsetto with Ray while John does falsetto with Mike for the chorus. It's not like lots of the videos from the 60s where there aren't any microphones!

  • maggie, it looks like that's the studio album version... watch more closely, it isn't quite right. Great song, tho!

  • This is funny... Somebody sent this to me recently, and I looked at it with new eyes and saw immediately that it was lip synched :-). There is another layer of percussion that you can't see anybody doing. Also, it's the exact same recording as you hear on the record. Oh well... live and learn.

  • Moodies Fan, I want you to post every single M&B video you have, please! lol

  • a song i've never seen preformed live before. It's a lip sinc, but still great.

  • They are not playing any instrument neither singing.

I have known that "candle of life" is in this DVD. Could you post it?
