BTW, can anyone help me on this one. I have been searching for the song by The Moody Blues that my dad loved so much. The line i remember in it goes like this " Timothy Leary's dead, No,no,no,no he's outside looking in." If anyone can tell me the name of this song, I would surely appreciate it. I have been searching for a long time. I remember as a small child being so afraid of that song but i just have to have it now!! :)) Thanks!!
@5ec27b Thank you so much!! That was my dad's favorite song and it holds alot of memories for me. But I never got to find out the name since the last time I heard it I was a little girl and my dad left my life when I was 9. But I remember it scaring me because I thought Timothy was truly outside looking in our window!! lol Great memories though!! Again, thank you!! :))
I ahve always loved this song!! I so grew up on The Moody Blues. Saw them in Concert back in 1993!! The best concert ever!! Their music is just timeless and so full of pure emotion and real feeling. They dont make music like this today!! Real music with real emotion. Such a shame really! Thankfully we still have the wonderful opportunity to listen to it today. This was my dad's favorite group ! He played it loud on our backporch speakers on the long summer nights. I miss those days. RIP Pop<3
First, let me say I a life-long MB fan. I was lucky enough to see them 2x back in the 70's. Seeing them in this video really turns back the clock. Unfortunately, there's no way the audio portion of these vids are accurate. Not to say these guys couldn't play live - they could and did but for this series of videos, they were playing to tracks live or the audio was enhanced afterwards.
@RichNickers Hello Nick, I am the one who made the Moody Blues channel with the Moody Blues - Tortoise and the Hare (1970) a long with a lot of other videos of the Moodies. They are very creative lads and still going strong today, I had to share the love of they're music with all Moody Blues fans everywhere. :-) I'm glad you like them. Thanks. You have a nice day. Peace. Said Love Love,
@CincyDirtyBird THEIR HARMONIES ARE HARD TO MATCH, VOCALS ON ALL THEIR ALBUMS IMPECCABLE, ONLY GROUPS TO COME CLOSE IN HARMONY WAS CROSBY STILLS NASH AND YOUNG AND YES
I have this DVD, and while I enjoy seeing them in this era, this comes awfully close to what's-their-names faking it on stage. Notice Justin playing an electric guitar but the rhythm guitar is acoustic. This is exactly the track from the album, not a live performance. Too bad.
herbs, and such! oh, gurl, you have me getting red here! lets just say that we had a cold ,dark basement in that uummm pharmhouse! very condusive to fungi..ok VERY red! cheeks warm? check! red face? check! sides hurting? double check! that WAS a long time ago!
i lived on a pharm? i'm busted here, aren't i? oh well..wait! behind you! (kirk flees, emptying pockets into flower beds , going down the street!) (wait! nothing IN pockets except house keys! d**n!)
They mention in the liner notes of the reissued first 7 albums that their multilayered studio recordings with everyone playing multiple instruments presented a problem with live performances, not to mention the orchestral accompaniments they used. Because they were just five people, they had to use backing tracks on some songs in live performances. They were really playing and singing live, but in accompaniment to recordings of themselves.
It's not obviously lip sync... Where are the signs?
I see the cymbals moving, the tambourine shaking, the keys on the mellotron depressed. I'm watching Justin's hands and it looks right. Interestingly Justin's doing falsetto with Ray while John does falsetto with Mike for the chorus. It's not like lots of the videos from the 60s where there aren't any microphones!
This is funny... Somebody sent this to me recently, and I looked at it with new eyes and saw immediately that it was lip synched :-). There is another layer of percussion that you can't see anybody doing. Also, it's the exact same recording as you hear on the record. Oh well... live and learn.
john..sings really good also..you have a beautiful voice john...love your coat,i have a similar girl's one also!

these guys.. continue to blow my mind! You dont need drugs, just alot of records from the mid-late 60's, a good guitar, and an amp with good reverb!

At :31 - :40 it looks like John leans forward to sing too early and backs off - Ray sees it and they both can barely keep from laughing.
