these guys don't actually sound much like tool. if you actually know tool well you'll find they're really different. they share a "progressive" trait and use similar compositional techniques like odd time sigs and rhythms and heavyness but the feel and overall sound of the 2 bands is completely different. NOONE sounds REALLY similar to tool.

They keep the song alive by combining about 8 different riffs into one song. The beat goes up and down, keeping you entertained. And a side not, 6 string bass. I can barely play a five string, six is insane.

the song does go for a long time. But you must admit the amount of talent to put this type of song together is simply amazing. The melodies are fairly complex and the tuning is very odd (DADFAD) and Ians vocals are so powerful and the song has a small story to it it the best :)

ray, Tool has been my favorite band for years and a big influence of mine, BUT I think its absolutely a fair comparison. I've heard Maynard's voice crack and be off pitch far more times than Ian Kenny.

If Karnivool had the following and the budget that Tool does, their live shows would blow them away. As it is, they already sound better than Tool live.
