Putting AVI Video Files On The PS3 with Windows Media Player

how do i get movies onto windows media player? pllz help

Just go to any electronic store buy a 8 gig usb flash drive there only 12 dollars transfer your movies on there then transfer your movies on your ps3 once your done erase your movies off your flash drive rinse and repeat thats what i do makes it much easier.

Im having a small problem, I'm using a newer version of windows media player plus windows 7. Until today media sharing was working ok. It stil does, but some folders will not open. I connect to my hard drive because it's where i store stuff, and I have like 15 folders for different things. When I go to windows media player though, about 8 of those folders only show up and the rest dont. I dont get why.

@lauren144141 download vlc media player and it will play any avi unless it is corrupt or something. It plays 99% of all media as well, including music and video files. I can't seem to post the website exactly as youtube gives me an error, but just google the name and it will come right up on top.

how do you connect your playstation to your network, or is that the same as just being connected to the internet?

@xxdudeman the playstation will search for networks and ask you if you want to connect to it (or which one you want to connect to if there's more than one it can detect). Then you need the password if it's pass protected, and it will connect itself.

What did you use to make your avi files? The avi I have don't seem to work, I can see them on the ps3 but they wont play.

nope, the ports have to forwarded on a router and then the firewalls have to be turned off, and even after that their are more things that have to be done to get on a computer outside a network such as obtaining the passwords to share files and media and getting the person to allow the instances
