  • Delois Barrett Campbell, Billie Barrett Greenbey, and Rodessa Barrett Porter, internationally known as, "The Barrett Sisters," from the windy city of Chicago, IL

  • This was truly a blessing.. My spirit really needed these sisters today...

  • This song has tremendously blessed me!!

  • This kind of traditional gospel music keeps me grounded in my faith. I don't think christian music was ment to be Hip Hop Rap; it doesn't go no where near the soul.

  • I am not a christian but this song resonates.

  • when someone can interpret the feelings you have in your heart,in song so beautifully..its GOD these ladies are soldiers for the LORD and i LOVE t

  • This is probably my favorite Barrett Sisters performance.......they completely tore up this song and WRECKED the church!!!

  • You know a Barrett sister by the high cheek bones. Sing ladies!

  • these sisters is blessed

  • I love this song! my uncle when he was alive he use to tour with the barrett sisters, and they sung this very song at his funeral. :)

  • I've followed the Barretts in Europe and the USA since 1985 ! Was your uncle Charles Pikes, that wonderful pianist and organist ? He was a good friend of mine and I miss him a lot ...

  • What a tremendous blessing this is!

  • i like the part when deloise says hallelujah and rhodessa says it right after her

  • delores barrett or cissy houston, and why

  • Hands down, it's Delois Barrett-Campbell...mainly because she knew the power of blending with other singers. I love Mrs. Houston, but she sings to overpower, and OVERuses her vibrato.

  • both are blessed. love them both.

  • INdeed, they are both blessed, but you asked for one's opinion.

  • What year was this?

  • 1991 at Chicago's historic Quinn Chapel

  • I love the Barrett Sisters...they are beautiful and anointed women of God. I remember seeing this YEARS ago. How and where are they now?

  • i rememeber watching when i was young

  • Who is that soprano?

  • the sister on the left. i forgot her name though.

  • Rhodessa Barrett on the left is the soparno.

  • These..." SISTERS" are so Amazing , My Words fall short...Many Thanks....

  • YES SUH!

  • Powerful, as only in Chicago. Those Barrett Sisters are something else for sure! This is pure, simple gospel the way it is suppose to be.

  • Can someone post the whole special??

  • I know a lotta folks wont believe this...but a younger Barack Obama was there that night. I cant remember the name of this church but its one of it not the oldest black church in Chicago, where this was filmed. He was a community organizer, at theh time. When I saw this program yrs ago, I remember seeing him in the crowd. Actually, he was standing uo clapping, while the Mighty Clouds of Joy were doin their thing. I have a memory like an elephants'.

  • This is at Quinn Chapel AME Church and I believe it is the oldest in black church in Chicago celebrating 165 years this year!!!!!!

  • THIS IS PERFECT.....

  • Is it me or I really saw Patti Labelle in the crowd?

  • This is Patti LaBelle's TV Special Going Home to Gospel... taped in Chicago at Quinn Chapel

  • Thank you very much for your reply.

  • I could see this video all day and all night they sang this song with some much heart it was done just right. they were so in tune with it

  • Best Choir singers!!!

  • These woman has presented Old Skool Gospel Music at it's Best! God Bless you all! I Just Love IT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • There was another group on the scene during the time of the Barrett Sisters and they were the Famous Davis Sisters out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When those sisters came to Chicago everybody knew it. They were known for tearing up auditoriums and churches, etc. Those were some singing women especially the leader, Sister Ruth Davis. Nobody could squall like Ruth. Don't know what squall mean do you? Listen to these sisters sing "I'm To Close To Heaven", or I Believe I'll go back home".

  • what year was this? I love this singing if my grandmother was here she would be shouting for joy. Glorryyyy!!!!!

  • There is singing but there is ANOINTED SINGING

such as the Barrett Sister!! Keep on singing to the Glory of the Lord!!

  • Those Barrett Sisters are still bad.

    Jerry Bess

  • Those Barrett Sisters are something else. I wish there were groups like these today. This stuff people call gospel music just ain't gospel at all.

    Jerry Bess

  • That is so true !

  • true,

In real gospel the colors of the holy spirit shines true. Most stuff they call gospel nowadays, is just commercial R&B with some gospel lyrics.

  • @goodstiff i agree

  • I love this kind of music. It just lifts your spirit. Thanx

  • I love this song!! The Barrett sisters are the best.

  • Im going to fly away!!

  • Classic Barrett Sisters! They are something else!

  • The Barrett Sisters were and ARE INCREDIBLE! Delores is a true professional!

  • yes that is patti labelle @ 3:53... i believe this is her going home to gospel dvd

  • Is this show available in video or dvd ?

  • These Ladies are Beautiful and the epitome of classic Great sounding Gospel Musiciaship!! Voices Dont blend this well naturally nowadays everything is tricks and computers. God Bless The BARRETT SISTERS!! BEFORE THE CLARK SISTERS TIME HERE!!

  • You betta say it!!!

  • This Going Home To Gospel was actually filmed in Philadelphia..

  • I don't think so...

  • I believe this was recorded at Quinn chapel here in chicago, thus, so many chicago folks on the programs.

  • @ChiOne07 and you would be right. It was filmed at Quinn Chapel in Chicago.

  • @kristofer024 It was filmed at Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church at 24th and Wabash. It's one of the oldest Black Churchs in Chicago. Quinn was a part of the Underground Railroad.

I actually remember this because Quinn was in disrepair and they fixed it up for this program. Pilgrim Baptist Church the home of gospel music is down the street.

  • Is that Patti Labelle at 3:53

  • Yes it is. This concert was the Patti Labelle special filmed in 1991 in Chicago, 'Going Home To Gospel with Patti Labelle'. The Church where this was held at is Quinn Chapel AME. A host of singers and choirs took part in this PBS special.

  • Love Praise God from whom all blessings FLOW.

  • I use to love to hear them sing this song still do

  • If you think the Barret Sisters are good, you should really see the documentary "Say Amen, Somebody"

  • I've tried to look for them on Gloryland quartet radio and yahoo but can't find anything really, wondering if they still were touring and when will will be near VA or NC. Their version of Jesus loves me on youtube is hot!

  • Delois just turned 81 this year I believe but they still doing they thing just like the Caravans. I am hoping to have an Old School Gospel Explosion at my church sometime in 2009 when we finish our new family life center and renovating the sanctuary because we will then have ample space to hold the people. Hopefully they will still be in good enough health to travel because them and the Caravans are on my list! Shout out to Union Baptist and Pastor Walton in VA Beach, VA!!!

  • Hurry up and get it together because I will be their.

  • Mannnnnnn! I haven't heard this song in years!!! love it then and love it now, where are these blessed singers now??

  • BCFranks, I'm with you. Age wise, I'm between them and the next generation of gospel artists, but I ENJOY EVERY NOTE THE BARRETTS SING. What ministry! Did you see Sister Delois incite that "holy riot" at the end of the song?! YEAH!!

  • Yes this is it!!

  • Was that Anita Baker and Patti Labelle? Where was this?

  • No, that is Albertina Walker next to Patti.

  • No, I wasn't talking about her. I've since figured out that it was actually Billie Barrett I had mistaken...the hair threw me for a loop there. I've learned a lot more about the sisters since I left that question over a year ago.
