  • prolly worth around 4000 if it runs real good. too bad its an auto. if it was a stick itd prolly be worth about 500 dollars more. Bad ass truck tho. If you lived in oregon Id buy it from ya. Looks beastly lol

  • If you paint it John Deere Green, paint the dent that dent that scales down the side in John Deere Yellow.....

  • suhweeet truck man! keep it!

  • is the engine stock? if its stock then it had the de-stroked 360 version of the 390 as the 360 was offered in 4x4's and the 390 in 4x2's. But either way, its adamn fine engine with massive potential.

  • ohh btw holy much is a holly 4 brrl?

  • haha 78 it probbly has 278 on it i think they restart after 100 but not sure i just bout me a 75 version of this

  • what brand lift is that cause im having a hell of a time trying to find a 4 inch for a 74 f250 theres plenty of f150 lifts.do you think i could use one for an f250?

  • @chasetwining96 Skyjacker is the only one that makes one. They have a 2" and a 4" lift. 4" lift on a highboy can run 40s easy.

  • I have a 78

  • do i spy cab rot?

  • ill tell you right now that you did not go wrong buying that truck, that era from 1970 thru 1979 of fords were the best of trucks in my opinion. those trucks have a hell alot of back bone and you could damn near weld on the fenders if you neded. compared to the so called trucks now days a 1974 ford is way more durable.

  • @boomtrucker I'm sell my 71 f-250 highboy anyone interested? Call me 386-237-3239. Its really nice.

  • that things tiny

  • thats a sweet truck.. dammmmmm!! i love it

  • what wheels and tires are those?

  • nice truck retard talking

  • One thing I don't like about this is that the exhaust is coming out at the back of the tires. Makes them more vulnerable to rust. If I was you, I would straight pipe the bastard and throw a modified cam in it. That truck is a beast, get a headache rack, pto winch, boggers, and your ready to go.

  • "yeah, i know shes a beast" shit makes me crack up :D

  • I have a F-250 74 model it's a 460. If you accelerate with a hay bale in the back, (It has a Baling spike and winch) you can see the gas meter go down.

  • Highboys come from the factory about 2-3" taller than 2wd because of the divorced transfer cases. When the married the transfer case to the tranny halfway through 1977 they no longer needed the extra clearance and went back down in height.

You sir, have a skyjacker 4" lift. On top of the stock height.

  • i got a 74 ford highboy from my dad when he past but im restoring it its beast it has a 390 aluminum heads strait pipes and a holly high performance 4 barrel

  • haha ford pick em up trucks nice truck though

  • She is sweet man. She is way better than the car. i would take just about any truck over any car any day.

  • highboys came with 360s

  • nice truck i have the same truck just a manual with a dump box off a 46 international it can haul some insane shit lol

  • god dam thats a BAD ASS truck, whats the lift kit on it?

  • @idiforddiesel it's a highboy. All factory.

  • Dad gave me his '74 250 camper special 390 holley 4 bbl. from factory..wish i still had it....

  • go edelbrock holley is shitty

  • Anbody else think this guy is a complete DOUCHE Bag?

  • @LoudAndLiftedChevy Apparently a lot of people must not think so...this vid has 20K views and my entire channel of 45 videos has just under 40K views... :(

  • @hendo337 thank you hendo haha ill give you some views for that

  • My stepdad had a red one of those he inherited from his father back in 92, he had it until he died in 05. Had the 390 FE in it.

That poor old truck could pull an 80 foot mobile home with the rear driveshaft out, saw it with my own eyes.

It was so worn out when he died that the junkyard only gave $200 for it.

  • I would much like to see this truck painted. Send pics to grldlweis02@gmail.com if you can.

  • It's got the good mirrors to, bad ass!

  • Fuckin cool truck dude.

  • im so jealous

  • only reason for the escort, mpg

  • "yeah i know shes a ford" oh where'd u get that trailer?

  • Man thats nice i have a 77 F-250 with the 400M and the C6 tranny love that truck looks like yours with different mirrors and a red interior instead of green. do you plan on any mods or rebuilding???

  • @SgtMcCools1 yea and with wrenches not chopsticks hah

  • The tires look like goodyear wrangler R/T (they don't make them anymore)

  • How much did you pay for it?

  • What tires are those? (Not size but brand)

  • @Fordfanforlife777 humvee take offs36x12.5xr16.5

  • good choice of going to a FORD :)

  • how well does she drive on interstates? i heard that highboys are a little hard to control

  • @SCHMULBACH22 My highboy drives great on 35 Goodyear M/Ts. I really like the power assist steering on the road. The push/pull geometry creates a lot of bumpsteer when offroading, but on flat ground it's great. Because it's hydraulic assist the steering wheel pretty much stays where you leave it unlike integral power steering where the wheel will move about a bit.

  • This truck is boner material...

  • Bitchin ride man luv it.

  • its fucking sweet home boy :) I am searching for a f250 hiboy myself. Just for a nice truck when I get out of the north in the bush.

  • u should switch back to the stock mirrors.

  • might be about the biggest door knob i seen on the tube

  • love the look of the truck, i have the same one and love it. also, where did you buy the mirrors? i want to do the same thing to mine, but i have a stick.. YEEEHAWW

  • Those tires on it are Goodyear Wrangler RT 2's. those are military hummer tires that were used out in the deserts and shit. I had some on my 78 f250. they're badass and bulletproof. just better hope you never pop one off the bead. they're about impossible to get back on. nice truck.

  • hows your mpg?

  • Mines taller..... >:)

  • That is one sweet truck..

  • Nice Highboy same wheel and tire package as mine... 16.5" American Racing chrome wheels and surplus Army Goodyear Wrangler RT/IIs.

  • @hendo337 I've been wanting to have the Hummer tires on my Bronco but I couldn't ever find a good looking set of 16.5 inch wheels with 5 on 5 and a half bolt pattern. Where'd you get your wheels at??

  • @hendo337 Shit! You've got 8 lug bolt pattern don't you :(

  • @blindskater200 Yes, I do...I think all 250s have 8 lug...the wheels came with the truck when I bought it at the police auction...I would guess that 5 lug 16.5s are quite rare in deed...I hope you find some bud

  • or you could always weld in a 5 lug centers on some junk 16.5s...

  • @hendo337 True but I don't think I could really trust that :p

  • Yeehaw white trash.............

  • Definitely a good trade. The 390 is a Rock solid torquey engine.

  • Nice truck you got there. Did you check the stroke to verify it was a 390 and not a 360? Lot of 360s turn into 390s on sale day.

And to the war going on in the comments about engine availablility, the 390 was never offered in "highboys". If you ever post a vin I guarantee you it's not an H or M code because they don't exist. If it's an FE then it's a Y code (360 2v). If you can show me the warranty tag on the door of the vin and it's an H or M 4x4 truck then I will happily eat my words.

  • haha ok yeah dude ther is proaly like 174 thousand u gota think old truck dont go up that high i had the same truck

Here are the engines available in pickups during the times listed. This comes directly from FORD. 390's were options for HIGHBOYS.

  • @Taylorman55 I don't want to hijack this guys YouTube video with all of my commits, but all you have shown us was engine codes. Codes that can be found in many shop manuals and some magazines like LMC Truck. You haven't proven to me that the 390 was available in 4x4 models. If you just take time to do a goolge search, there is many treads on this topic. The engine type and model should be on the metal tag, on the back of the drives door. You need to go by that.

  • @dcpvmax I have A '75 Highboy and I know it for a FACT that Highboys were only available with the Y-code 360 2bbl. That ass hat trying to say that 390 was available is dead wrong. 390 was only in rwd F250s. My truck has a 390 in it because the previous owner swapped an S code passenger car 390 4bbl in to it.

  • @hendo337 The 300 I6 was optional for all 4x4 F-series trucks and late model Broncos. And yes, the 390s were used in some 4x2s trucks and some passenger cars, but never in a 4x4 truck.

  • @dcpvmax Dude, every 250 highboy ive ever seen has a 390 in it. And ive searched alot. Mine, my buddy's, and my grandads farm trucks had stock 390's in them. All of them 4x4

  • @BlueOvalIsKing201 Check the 4th digit in the v.i.n #, it will be a letter y (360 2v), on the 1967-1976 4x4 light duty trucks, unless you have the rare optioned 300 I6. The proof will always be in the v.i.n #'s kids.

  • @Taylorman55 google search, Did ford put 390s in 4x4s, pirate4x4 has your article that proves you wrong.

  • @dcpvmax This comes from my FACTORY FORD handbook, from the company. I can give you VIN numbers on both pickups also that you can find online if needed to show factory 390's were "optional." These also show that it is a F250, dana 60 rear etc. I am off at college. Ill call the old man tonight and get the numbers. Have you ever worked specifically for Ford, or ever ordered a pickup from them? Considering my dad worked for them in 74, Im gonna stick with this.

  • @dcpvmax I just checked your "article" that you told me to look at. One guy talks about how the "majority" of the pickups had the 360's. BUT you could order them with the 390 !!! Thank you for clearing that up. The article said nothing about specific years and gave no valid numbers or dates. Good work on finding a "talked about topic" with no validity what so ever. I will take the printed version, in my hand right now, that shows what was available in those years. You need to do more research.

  • @dcpvmax Wow. You are getting pretty upset over spilt milk buddy. You must be one of those people that has to use CAPITAL LETTERS to get their point across. Ha Ha. It's actually pretty funny. I love how guys like you talk tough on the internet. It makes me laugh. You probably live at home with mom and dad and probably have no education as all anyways. It's ok though. I'm not mad. Are you mad? Do you even own a highboy? Doubtful. Keep doing your research buddy. Someday, you will know something.

  • @dcpvmax You know what I find funny? You talk about education and all. You deleted your own post because there was numerous spelling errors in it. It gave me a good laugh! On another note, you have also shown NO evidence for anything. You said take a look at a website. Ok. So I did. All the website was, was guys talking about pickups, with no literature, or facts, just guys saying what they think they know and what they do not know. It was a truck forum. Not facts. Nice job on your research! HA

  • Comment removed

  • @dcpvmax You have no HARD evidence of your claims, besides a truck forum? A truck forum, is guys who talk about their vehicles, I saw no up dated literature from ford on that "truck forum", besides what is in my hand. I agree, majority of ford 4 X 4's came with 360. BUT you forget to realize, when "special" ordering a NEW pickup back then, you could order a 390 as an option. Just because you have not seen a factory 390 Highboy does not mean they do not exist. I will post a VIN number soon.

  • @dcpvmax Once again, for what... the 3rd time? You have me look into a website... which... once again... turns into a "Forum". Also, it does not JUST deal with 67-76 Ford Highboys. You must have forgot they also made Highboys in the 1st half of 77, or didn't you know that? There are more posts on there about 1980-current vehicles than anything else, and I'm having a DAMN hard time finding much on SPECIFICALLY talking about what motors were in what pickups. Once again, you failed. Keep trying!!

  • Comment removed

  • @dcpvmax Now, once again, I will prove you thee idiot. This is a direct QUOTE from the site. "Blue Oval Trucks' is an enthusiast site and is in no way affiliated with the Ford Motor Company". If you do a google search, you can find this exact information IS OFF OF ANOTHER FORUM! GOOD WORK again buddy! HA HA. PS... like i said previously... on this "site" aka FORUM... there is little to no info on HIGHBOYS... just a page with a few facts/false sentences that someone put up. KEEP TRYING !! HA HA

  • @Taylorman55 You are a fuckin' retard. Maybe between your special olympics classes, you should go to night school to learn how to run a computer. You are a loser and a liar. You should go kill yourself to save your family anymore embarrassment. I'm done talking with you, so go jump off of a cliff. But, before you do, I'm still waiting for you to send us your V.I.N number so I can debunk your lie one more time.

  • @dcpvmax haha, I figured you would keep losing your cool, slowly, more and more. You give me such a good laugh, I do appreciate it ! You don't say much once I call you out about your "forum's" huh? You are getting upset because everything you write, I can show how it has no reliability to it. How is that embarrassing my family? Not following you there! Must be because I'mmmmm slowwwww... KEEP TRYING AND SHOW REAL PROOF.... YOU HAVE DONE NONE of that.... we are both even until i get a VIN up..

  • @Taylorman55 Sounds like you painted yourself into a corner and your trying to find away out. There is numerous places on the internet that reinforces what I say even all of the forums. You whine and cry about me not showing you real proof but you haven't show us anything yet. Which makes me ahead in this debate.

You tell that I'm wrong, but you haven't proven me wrong yet. Out of so many posts that you have written on here, not one has backs up your argument. I'm still waiting for your proof.

  • @dcpvmax How are you ahead in the argument, when you have not shown proof either? lol.... thats pretty damn funny! You have no SOLID evidence... just forums.... and nothing else? At least I have a Ford handbook stating the fact, and also backed from a Ford mechanic during that time. Wouldnt that put ME ahead in this pissing contest? lol

  • @Taylorman55 I'm ahead because I talked to my local Ford dealership a few days ago, and they can't find any evidence in their books that shows that Ford ever put the FE 390 in their 4x4 pickups. That is why I'm still waiting for your VIN number. You say you have a "Ford handbook", tell us what is the name of the book is, along with the vol. number. Once again, you haven't given us no proof that supports your claim.

  • @dcpvmax clearly you have no idea what you are talking about 360 fe were strictly truck motors , but many trucks and cars had 390s in them from factory like my 73 highboy with a 390 4spd in it wth 50k original miles on it and it all checks out with the vin. iv seen more 70s ford trucks with 390s in them then any other motor besides the 360 fe in the 70s that is.

  • @brizerbrizer I was hoping this 390 talk was coming to a end for me. The 390 was put in a lot of 2x4 pickups and some cars, but were never use in 4x4 pickups. The 360 is more common than the 390. And no, your highboy didn't leave the factory with a 390. The 300 I6 was uncommon, but was avaliabe for 4x4 pickups in the 70's. I have a '72 F-100 2x4, '72 F-100 4x4, '73 F-100, '73 F-250 4x4 and they all have 360s in them. Lastly, the FT 361 or the FT 391, were the medium duty truck engines.

  • throw a cummins in it

  • 390's WERE factory options for highboys. Where do you get your info from? My dad has been a mechanic for over 40 years and ordered his 74 Highboy from the factory with a 390. .Also, my 70 highboy came factory with a 390 2v.

  • @Taylorman55 Ford never put 390's in any of their 4x4 light duty pickups, just in their 2wds. This is coming form a Ford enthusiast that has many '70s Ford pickups, even a '73 highboy. Just do a google search if you don't believe me.

  • @dcpvmax

Going to have to disagree. My dad worked for Ford during 70's even. lol. You could order it as an option with a 390. Most did come with 360's though.

  • @dcpvmax Here are the engine code options for Ford F-250's in 1973-1977.... There are a few different ones for the 1967-1972 also. Sorry, but I had to prove you wrong on this one.

    A - 6 cyl - 240cid - 1BBL carb - 1973-74

    B - 6 cyl - 300 cid - 1BBL carb - 1973-80

    Y - V8 - 360cid - 2BBL carb - 1973-76

    H - V8 - 390cid - 2BBL carb - 1973-76

    M - V8 - 390cid - 4BBL carb - 1974-78

  • A lot of people say they have 390s in their highboys eventhough the 390 wasn't a factory option for then. If this motor is original and hasn't had a 390 crank and rod swap, it is a 360. I'm not being mean, just stating the facts.

  • Nice truck, Im going to get one as soon as my danger ranger dies.

  • put a cummins 5.9 and NV5600

  • wana sell it?

  • nice truck man i got a 74 highboy to but only will a four inch lift with thirty threes but on the up side its a four on the floor with a 428 cobra jet

  • i love ford... wicked nice truck... this is what i want when i grow up.

  • You may be interested in day trading, day trader, day trade videos - technical analysis - for wealth building

  • you know a true highboy didnt come with an automatic....

  • @bucklin85 really? how do you know this?

  • @hooyahnavyad im pretty sure the only reason the true highboys were taller than the rest is because they had a divorced transfer case and they needed the extra height for ground clearance. if they were autos they wouldnt need the extra lift to clear anything. ive also owned a 73, 74, and just got my hands on a 75. But you could always just google it .

  • @bucklin85 thanks man i know there is also a difference in the lift but i cant remember what it is

  • Nice truck, full time 4x4. The last of the great trucks, check out my vid's, Iam in the process of rebuilding my truck 79 f250. It is nice to know that when you are tired of the escort, you can drive over it.

  • what type of mufflers are on it and what size pipes

    thanks

  • i like my 77 f250 highboy. converted to stick shift and put a real sweet cam in it. it has a 351m.

  • good damn thats sexy!!!!

  • i got the same year but a f100 i love it. awesome truck

  • keep it id love to get it

  • @Grizzlycastro Obviously, i was jokin

  • @Grizzlycastro k haha just checkin

  • your really trying to decide if a hiboy is cooler than a escort? thats the easiest thing ive ever heard

  • @Catamountfootball99 Clearly i was joking hah

  • @TDem73 haha good just checking, i would buy that thing so quick i love these things

  • I just got a 73 f250. 9 inch lift and some 38 inch swampers on it :)

Also has a 390 4 speed, Top speed of about 55 haha..

Its got 411 gears. Needs some work to be highway worthy.

Looks like Im takin the back roads to school lol....

I traded my 88 f250 2wd in almost perfect condition lol.

  • K badass truck I love the highboys but dude you sound like you've breathed in a lil to much exhaust fumes

  • @crazyfcar123321 Im sorry that the voice i was borm with is not up to your standards

  • @TDem73 you were born with a post-puberty man voice? hmmm...interesting

  • 2800 the way it sits now if you put a set of 38s on it and a 4 speed 3000 easy

  • @i sold it for four grand

  • @TDem73 good deal

  • it's prolly got a 2 inch add a leaf. highboy's came factory lifted. i've got a 73 on 36's stock susp.

2u on the crank will tell you if it's a 390. 2t is a 360. good luck with her.

  • That's A BAD TRUCK man you can't kill them ole fords

  • That's A BAD TRUCK man.... you can't beat them ole fords at all

  • nice truck for sure, i had a 74 supercab with 360 windsor or clevelend, dont remember, point is, best dam truck i ever had

  • left side's running lean.

  • @thorn22732 the left side was runnin a little rich..there was some black smoke

  • yea the highboys basically are complete with a 4speed granny first. That is the best truck you will ever own, with one of the best engines ever made.

You outta check if it really is a 390 though and not a 360. take out a spark plug and measure the stroke. 3.78" is a 390...

  • @ndubb1 Its freshly rebuilt, but yea i love a good ole highboy.. And an old chevy.. I hadda few old chevys and they were awesome

  • you got the better end of the deal for sure!!!!!!!!

  • you definitely got the better deal

  • NICE.... Gotta get 'er spinnin'! Throw some MUD! I like the primer though, that or brown is just Old School Nasty

  • @nrhbmw Haha yea but im gonna paint it john deere green

  • @pjtart I got that escort for that.. Next summer after its painted and has a 4 speed im drivin it 5 hours away for school

  • @pjtart Ive always wanted a highboy And 6.5s are junk hah.. And the truck had 200k besides drivetrain so shit was goin

  • im a chevy guy at heart, but those old classic ford trucks are cool. and thats a clean one too man, nice.

  • do you realize that you are a smart man for trading that Chevy for that ford!

You go the best of both worlds right there Ford and John Deere!!

  • @jvanderman Haha thanks.. Two awesome machines hah

  • @TDem73 hey you need to put a 460 like the one in your other vehical in that truck.. if you have enough to pay for the gas lol

  • @jvanderman I would but im gonna be driving this back and forth 5 hours away next year when i go to diesel school hah

  • sweet ride

  • Don't matter what she's worth. All that matters is that you enjoy it. :3

  • very nice, you know what be good, a nice paint job, red or something

  • @vmxrm85 Im paintin her john deere green or bright orange hah

  • @TDem73 it's going to look sweet
