For a game that was heavily delayed I've gotta say the enemies are still a lot more interesting than those in recent games :) The Assault Captains ability to teleport among other things; you don't really see that in most shooters...... So yeah makes for a nice change :) Sure the game could've been better but hell I enjoy it :) All I can say is hopefully the next Duke Nukem game goes off without a hitch... the lesson in the end is don't spend too long developing; try to keep up :)

Games like Crysis, COD etc have this problem too, but they simulate freedom with maps of decent width, say several 100 meters,So you can have a choice of contacting or avoiding an enemy in most cases In Dukes world the planty narrow corridors even in openspaces causes you a claustrophobic and irritating feeling all the time even the number of enemies to kill is predestinated 99%.

You see a spacecraft splashing into a skyscraper followed by chopters, you see a building collapse taking civilians with, you hear strange noises from a far place and you know you will encounter "something", this salivates the mind. Now lets compare this to the spaceship shooting map in DNF, its boring.

Its was developed for 12 years true, but as a DN fan, you have to know the reason for this. They developed the game for 4 years, then when they finished with half of the game, the graphics engine got obsolete. Then they had funding problems. Then they developed it for another few years, the G.E got obsolete again, then they canceled it and so on. The development for this game was a nightmare. And lets forget the matrix it was just an example. In what way is this a mile stone.

i have never played Duke Nukem.......i heard this game originated somewhere in 1980's or 1990's and made a new game this coming 2011........as far as i can see they stick to the Classic game type with great gameplay but with a Classic graphics.

And this game is the 2nd one to be FPS. before and after Duke Nukem 3D, its been either a sidescroller or a 3rd person shooter. The graphics are "ugly" because they started with it in 2007(or somewhere around there), but they were so god damn slow, and couldnt finish it. They got bankrupt, and gearbox bought the game and fixed it.

The only reason why the graphics are like that is because Gearbox didn't start over again. They just took what 3D Realms was making and continued on it. To change the engine from UE2.5 to UE3 would mean to start again, and constantly changing the graphics engine is the reason why this game was delayed for 13 years.

And with gamers today...especially on these next gen consoles Graphics plays a relatively large part....and if it's been 14 years in the making...that should've given the developers enough time to upgrade the graphics engine in it.....especially since it's on a next gen console...and not an original X-Box or PS2

When I say this is a fun game but awful made, then instead of trolling around with darth vader feelings a rational answer would be a good option.
1) Lets take the AI of the game- there are lot of enemies running at you thats all.
2) Its very linear. False?
3) The physics engine is horrible. Is it good?
4) The characters are like static models, just blabering.
5) Graphics- bump mapping and shader? What else?
5) The lame weapons and effects.
6) Lack of tactics- shoot and strafe.
7) The story.

i have never played Duke Nukem.......i heard this game originated somewhere in 1980's or 1990's and made a new game this coming 2011........as far as i can see they stick to the Classic game type with great gameplay but with a Classic graphics.

@luftwaffe789456123 They have made a lot of Duke Nukem games. But the one that everyone talkes about the most is Duke Nukem 3D. Thats the third game in the series. And this game is the 2nd one to be FPS. before and after Duke Nukem 3D, its been either a sidescroller or a 3rd person shooter. The graphics are "ugly" because they started with it in 2007(or somewhere around there), but they were so god damn slow, and couldnt finish it. They got bankrupt, and gearbox bought the game and fixed it.

They just admitted the game is done all that's needed is to reach the release date frankly I don't see why they just can't make up all the let downs and set backs along with all the years of waiting by releasing a finished game early however if they are just doing this to show off at E3 and prove every one wrong it's still not worth it

The only reason why the graphics are like that is because Gearbox didn't start over again. They just took what 3D Realms was making and continued on it. To change the engine from UE2.5 to UE3 would mean to start again, and constantly changing the graphics engine is the reason why this game was delayed for 13 years.

@LoneFox13 You should accept that this game was supposed to be released over 14 years ago. And good graphics don't make a good game if you take a look at Secret of Mana or Final Fantasy VII for example. Brilliant games with a big and emotional story and a great gameplay.

@DasMirkoo Final Fantasy was a reasonably large game...so not much room for high graphics...and Never Played Secret Of Mana...if it was an RPG game then that's why...I don't play them. And with gamers today...especially on these next gen consoles Graphics plays a relatively large part....and if it's been 14 years in the making...that should've given the developers enough time to upgrade the graphics engine in it.....especially since it's on a next gen console...and not an original X-Box or PS2

@LoneFox13 You overact a lil' bit. The graphics of Duke Nukem Forever aren't comparable to the PS2/XBox-graphics. It's comparable with games from 2006-2007 and they had still good graphics. Maybe I criticize you because I was born in the SNES/N64 time and story is definitly more important for me as the graphics. But hey, we have something in common; we both will buy F3AR. ;)
