  • yea, i added it to the video description.. i get asked this question a lot :)

  • nice video lol Whats the name of the song ? XD

" I love Your Music Player, what program is it? is it a skin? " I think that is XMMS music player.

  • oh god i used to be so scared of that movie "a nightmare before christmas" it's still freaky to me

  • Yea. Jack Skellington is scary, isn't he ;)

  • I love Your Music Player, what program is it? is it a skin?

  • XMMS with a skin. Fast, lean music player. Sort of like the old Winamp 2.x on Windows. But Beep Media Player is probably better, it's an XMMS fork, so it's basically a lot like XMMS, but it uses Gtk2 which looks better. But most of the time I prefer to use more heavy music players with a built-in library and nifty features like a lyrics seeker (like Amarok or Exaile)

  • Thank you. i've been putting off switching to xmms because i haven't found a nice skin yet and no podcast support. but it looks so much better then rhythmbox player.

  • Actually, I don't use xmms often. I really love Amarok. If you want something xmms'ish, I would say Audacious is the closest thing right now. It's like a more modern xmms.

  • this is Hoodwinked

  • What's that movie you playin ?

  • this video ROX!!

    thanks !! :)

  • Excellent Video! A couple questions though...

    1. What skydome image are you using? Could you point me to it.

    2. That clock that you have on top of everything, what is it? Is it an adesklet?

  • 1. I forgot! It's been awhile!

    2. it's cairo-dock! by MacSlow! :)

  • Very nice video, thanks! I'm a beryl user too. Shows off some of the best features of it. Btw, out of curiosity, what software are you using to do the vid/audio capture?

  • Nah, the video is old and outdated :) I use plain old xvidcap, only works well on resolutions below 800x600 though, when running beryl...

  • xvidcap, but I don't like it so much :) on low resolutions and with good settings it records pretty well though

  • Cool video but it would be nice to see one of these Beryl videos where someone actually talked over the video and explained what Beryl is and how it works.

As a new linux user I've only got a brief concept of what Beryl is. So it would be really helpful to see someone explain it, maybe even explain how to install it too? As part of the Beryl dev team maybe you or someone you know could do something like this?

  • I was already thinking of something like this.. if only I had a better way to capture the video.. so I could run the _really_ nice effects very fast, at a high resolution.. i just need a digital videocamera or something :( i might try s-video out linked to a s-video in recorder sometime too..

  • Great video :)

  • Nah. There are better vids out there :) If I had better recording material, I could do cooler things too

  • would you considser youselft a linux expert? if so you wanna help me set up mine... I can get beryl working... but that seems like the only thing i can get working ;-)

  • i wonder why my reply didn't get added.. anyway, i have been using linux for years and I'm one of the beryl developers, so maybe I can help you, but then again.. an expert? I wouldn't call me that ;)

  • well... it turns out... after alot of work, I got everything working... however with beryl.. I do still have 1 problem. My video goes black when I rotate my cube! But other than that I'm super happy!

  • Good taste in music profox

  • Thanks zootreeves :)

  • Great video ... :-)

    But one question ...

Who sing that music? i like it

  • I know you do ;) everyone likes it ;D

It's: The Postal Service - Such Great Heights
