@waldner97 completely agree with you. Waldner is 2 times world singles champion, European single champion, 2 times European champion double team, 4 times European champion team, Olimpic Gold medalist, Olimpic Silver medalist, 9 times Swedish single Champion. No present Chinese player can reach his record of awards and accomplishments.
If you ciick on a video called Waldner vs Ma ... of course it's going to be a Waldner Tribute. Typically a game that's fully shown will have the names in Alphabetical order. The game was a good one so I don't see why he can't send a tribute out to Waldner.
Wait a minute..I never saw this game before! wow...Ma kinda look like he was just an average rookie...He couldn't well adjust to the type of mystifying style Waldner had. But with all these highlights, did Waldner actually won this game? i mean i read someone commented Ma eventually won the match. Could someone pls tell me about this. Nice job posting this video though...Waldner the Greatest still...!
Waldner destroyed Ma Lin but ended up losing. Because it was too easy, he took it for granted and lost. After the game, the Chinese coach stated that Waldner lost because he was thinking about the final, against Liu Guoliang. I think this was the worst defeat in Waldner career. Had he not think ahead, he would have won the '99 WTC. In the previous WTC '97, Waldner was perfect in the singles, sweeping everyone. His performance was the best in the history of the game.
This video is a very deceptive presentation of the match! Cherry-picked are only the first 2 games that show the seemingly invincible Waldner against Ma Lin. Afterward, Ma Lin, however, began to catch up slowly but surely, while Waldner ran out of luck like a pool player. By the middle of the 5th game, it's obvious that Ma Lin became Waldner in the first 2 games, and vice versa. Waldner's game completely collapsed and his comeback since '97 WTTC ended right there! I witnessed the whole match.
@tyoungos This video is not a presentation of the match but about Waldner highlights as one can clearly read in the subtitle of the video. Then one should expect not to see any match points made by Ma Lin in it. In 2000 Waldner was Olimpic Silver Medalist (age 35), 2004 4th in Single in Olimpics game (age 39), 2006 Swedish Single Champion (age 41), 2010 Swedish Single Champion (age 45). Sorry I dont think this fact shows Waldner’s comeback ended since '97 WTTC. He is still good at the age of 45.
This clip shows just how familiar Waldner is with the Chinese penhold style, his anticipation of their almighty forehand attacks placement is unmatched.
waldner is still the best table tennis player ever
