  • who stopped the vid, he wasnt done,

  • haha i almost have the same les paul he does :)

  • is he doing slide harmonics in some parts?

  • What effects does he use?

  • @kakan147 I think he's using a mxr phase 90, but I'm not completely sure. I was just going to post the same comment actually.

  • 0:30-0:40 sounds like the riff from "black or white" by mj

  • 4.19 = "This will be the..the...(finger pointing),that and then...that note...and then do(weird sounds with his mouth)the C,yeah..."

I love him, learning so much here, his fingers teach more than his mouth needs to explain

  • why does everything sound so shit on youtube, i downloaded the dvd and it sounds way better than this *sigh*

  • OOOO.. MY LOORRRDDDD !!!

  • this song makes me wanna buy a les paul o-o

  • is that a gibson or an ibanez?

  • @TheInvalidChronicles ibanez Artist 300

  • 0:23 kinda sounds like black or white by MJ

  • Damn, I'm still waiting to see someone who says Paul Gilbert sucks. I've seen it on all the best guitarists. I want to meet the person that says P.G. sucks. Why? Because he is the most technical player ever. Every single note is hand chosen to be the best note. It's chosen within arpeggios, scales, whatever Paul knows will sound the best. He's a master of theory and technique

Basically, finding someone who says Paul sucks just shows how stupid that person is when it comes to guitar and life.

  • @StarvingFurniture I know someone who hate's paul's music. A good friend of mine, so I forgive him for it.

  • Comment removed

  • i used a les paul on my cover above

  • What model Ibanez Les Paul is that? because that color scheme is magnificent!

  • Ibanez PF100

  • wow its amazing how he breaks down how he wrote the song, its very interesting

  • I never have really liked Les Pauls, and this one kinda sounds like it has a stopped up nose.

  • I believe thats an ibanez

  • Silence Followed By a Deafening Roar is miles better than GOOMY. This song is a tune though.

  • I actually have SFBADR, but I like a few of the songs from GOOMY better. The best on SFBADR are Gargoyle, Eudaimonia Overture (crazy solo at the end), and Silence Followed by a Deafening Roar.

Then GOOMY has Hurry Up, Rusty Old Boat, and Get Out Of My Yard, among other greats.

All of Gilbert's stuff is hits, more people need to know about him.

  • what pedal is he using??

  • Damn it! this is so awsome!!!!!

  • > i play that song but on acoustic guitar only,, i know that is not too much for acoustic

    >i dont have a electric guitar

    >how sad!!!!!

  • Paul Gilbert is such a fucking sick guitarist...

I wish iTunes would get their shit together and make some of his Racer X stuff available for download (i.e., Technical Difficulties.) Thankfully they have this album, at least...now I won't be forced to bludgeon them with my Gretsch (it's kinda heavy.) lol! XD

  • beat em with an 70's model les paul those mother fuckers are like 40 pounds XD

  • dont buy off Itunes, just buy a hard copy online and have it shipped to you!

  • Try like a doubleneck gibson or something XD

  • It sounds so good!

  • YA IT DOES! HIS TONE MAKES ME HAPPY

  • At the beginning he's just showing you the logic behind the chord selection and the melody and he's playing it a lot 'nicer' as he says.

But in the actual song he uses distortion and replaces any kind of slurs and alternate picking with 8th note downstrokes. He also, doesn't hit the full blown chords like he shows you at the beginning when he performs, just their root notes.

  • so he's palm muting from the get go of this song?

  • Yes.

  • But no in all the song, only in the main riff

  • Im talking in the real song

  • He's a god, but hes just the nicest person on earth too. Cool song.

  • This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I just sounds so perfect.

  • yes, the tune is great as well

  • I like that Paul has stuck with Laney's, unlike Timmons who has ruined his tone IMO with an amp line that doesn't fit his playing style.

  • He left Laney a while back, hes with Marshall and plays a Marshall vintage modern.

  • Yeah, read after I posted that he changed after the '07 G3 tour.....I personally use Marshall & VHT amps but have always thought Laney's' sound great and fit him.

  • shut up

  • Andy Timmons has the most wonderful tone.

  • Timmons ruined his tone with Mesa's? I don't understand that one at all, the Mesa's suit is playing perfectly in my opinion.

  • The earlier Laney tones were much better.

  • Hmm, didn't even know he used to use Laney's. Was that before "That Was Then, This Is Now?" was recorded?

  • Danger Danger days until around '06+/- was Laney's and modded Marshall.

Andy's one of my favorite guitarists by the way and I have all his solo CD's.

  • You know, I have yet to hear any of his Danger Danger stuff, might have to look it up and see what you're talking about.

  • :31 sounded like a michael jackson song

  • Ye it's the same chords for: it doesn't matter if ur black or white.

Paul likes the classic 70 and 80's progression. You can hear in may songs he's tributing his youth legends :)

  • black or white

  • Les Paul Gilbert "D

  • @MichielGuitar rofl so horrible but its hysterical

  • @MichielGuitar it's actually not a Les Paul, it's an Ibanez PF-200, great sounding guitar.

  • Isn't that a post-lawsuit? Didn't the pre-lawsuit models have the "open book" shaped Gibson headstock?

  • lol les-paul-gilbert

  • Sound like a good guitar :p

  • its a good guitar, but paul made it sound better!

  • "...you can play it polite like that..."

  • hahaha

  • pauls my hero, this is a uber fun song to play and you can't help but swing around like PG does himself.
