Frank Lowy comes across as strong, thoughtful and solid. He reminds me of my grandfather, also an immigrant who came to Australia with nothing and built up wealth, with a steely determination to forge a new life.

@ausoul: what are you talking about? David Speers is the political editor and one of the most senior journalists at Sky. He asked some difficult, direct questions, as any good journalist would and should. . . not just sing the praises of Frank Lowy and Australia.

is it just me or does David Speers seem somewhat junior or inappropriate for this interview. Couldn't Sky News get someone a little more senior for this interview? David Speers is a good journalist but the interview was a little less about Australia's great ambition to win the world cup bid and more of a "lets try and get some dirt out of Lowy and FIFA". How much your own deep pockets will be used to schmooze??? come on seriously.... Frank Lowy is a great man! Leave him a lone... with his money.
