"Liam co-wrote a song (titled "Love Me and Leave Me") with former Stone Roses guitarist and songwriter John Squire for The Seahorses' debut album Do It Yourself (1997).[27]"
With a citation. And the citation is "(1997) Album notes for Do It Yourself by the Seahorses. Geffen Records."
i'm going from memory of an interview here: squire said something like "it was a conversation over some drinks and him being who he is, he's gonna get co-writing credits"
seemed to me squire was saying it wasn't like they sat down and wrote a song together. I thought he meant Liam demanded credit.
cool story. Even if he's just put a few words to it, Squire's gotta include Liam's name. They would have kicked up a storm if there was no credit. If Squire was bothered, he shouldn't have been cos collaborations benefit both bands. The people who come here to watch this mightn't like the Seahorses that much but like that Liam had some part in this.
My comment wasn't about how Liam earned songwriting credits....
My comment was directed at people who seemed to think it was Noel that got the credits. I never said anything about what Liam did to wrangle himself said credits.
I can't believe what a w***er Chris Helme has been. He was plucked out from virtually nowhere and put on a stage in a very very cool band, playing along side a true legend and he quit the band b/c he "didn't like [Jonh's] lyrics and melodies" and the "muso wanking"... Who does he think he is?!!
Love Me and Leave Me" was Liam Gallagher's first full-credited song as a co writer with John Squire.
Very good song. John Lennon's God a distance influence with the believe lines I think. Good stuff . One album I like it and maybe that's all they had and sometimes it's best that way.
Chris Helme played in my local boozer up the road, in December! Shook his hand, said alright etc, seemed a down to earth cool guy - he went out on the piss with some of my pals after it too! Liam Gallagher did backing vocals on this track eh. Superb.
liam=legend!
Squire=Legend!
the only reason i started listenin to de seahorses is coz liam co wrote this song!!!! Ian brown is a legend 2! jus tot id trow dat in der! lol

To all the people who say Liam Gallagher can't write a tune, listen & learn. Even if he did co-write it, this tune still shoes his skill man

YouTube doesn't let you give links in comments but if you google seahorses "did the verse and melody" (with quotes), it finds the page ;)

Shame this band bombed, so may bands like it are doing well today.
I guess the trendy movement was not present back then.
