  • Is Carlsen world champion?

  • big guy

  • 2:40 Alexander Onischuk used magnu´s time to make his move.. thats DQ

  • he looks relativley bored.

  • They should have some kind of electric chessboard with automatic clock, so they would not have to use their hands so much. :)

  • that looked likwe a benko gambit

  • @TheDustAutumn Yea, do people still play that?

  • where can i get a chess board like that is there a name for that one there playing on

  • Judit Polgar turns me on though, love a smart woman.

  • has he eve rbeen beaten|???

  • @defw1de

Yeah quite a few times, in fact he lost to a female as well, hahahaha

  • @AlltimeTrance Men are just better at chess naturally deal with it.

  • @IndrasBlade77

No The fact is that far more men play chess than women, If the same number of women played chess at international level, I would have thought it would be about even.

I'm a guy by the way.

  • @defw1de

It;s the women on 3:08 actually she has beaten Magnus.

I don't think he shook hands either just walked off.

  • @AlltimeTrance Judit Polgar beat him once, big deal, he's beaten her many times in comparison. Judit is by far the strongest woman player ever but she is not in the league of Magnus or a Kasparov.

  • @IndrasBlade77

    Well yeah I know that.

  • It's better to have black in a tie breaker?

  • I prefere 3 minutes with a 2-second addition of time per move. Tho this 5 mins for white and 4 mins for black is also great as you can try and get into your pet lines where a draw is the likely result. However many years ago while travelling from berlin to amsterdam by train i met ivanchuk who was with a group of friends. He kindly played 6 games of blitz with me. So much for my "pet -lines" As white he played 1.h2-h3 in 3 games and 1. . a7-a6 as black against all my 1st moves.( I lost 6-0!)

  • He is the Justin Bieber of Chess

  • @BIgBloGhubbie That's an insult.

  • @BIgBloGhubbie how DARE you calling the #1 chess GM, also getting the title GM at the youngest age in the history of mankind, a JB of chess? >,>

  • Too bad they didn't increase the camera angle a bit.

  • Does that child's mother know where he is?

  • CHESS IS FUCKING BEAUTIFUL!

  • ...but no one got a check mate? :S

  • 3 game who won?

  • I don't like armageddon. in armaggedon, the time control should be 8 and a half minutes for white and 5 for black. it's too easy to play black, knowing that if you draw, its actually a win.

  • Damn, you can feel the pressure even though you are not playing :) It gives chills down the spine.

  • HATS OFF YOUNG CARLSEN

  • WTF?! xD

  • no idea what I'm looking at, or who's winning. What's the biggest site people play on?

  • Han ser ut som en jävla apa. Fule jävla downs-syndrom unge!!

  • @zvegasz Du må være et tragisk eksemplar av en svenskefaen med den patetiske holdningen der. Mistet din mamma deg for mye i bakken når du var liten?

  • Carlson is a penis smuggler

  • Brilliant last move

  • @xiangyik I realize that. I am just stating that the fact that he played 2...c5 got Onischuk a bit nervous. He paused a bit before 3. d5 and then 3....b5. Sorry if my comment was not clear. :)

  • Look, wins with the black pieces. Carlsen is a gangsta!

  • Kasparov attacked by flying penis ===> youtube.com/watch?v=Jj0GPasx1ic

  • They Sold Their Souls For Rock And Roll

    /watch?v=2OyP4ETNygo

    /watch?v=laruFiU8uqg

  • Blitz Chess isn't chess.

  • @awaretenacious it is chess, but not for amateurs...

  • @awaretenacious WHY NOT ?

  • @awaretenacious

Why? Does it suddenly become checkers when the time controls are short?

  • Haha love the Benko Gambit by Carlsen Onschuk's like WTF when carlsen plays 2...c5 I personally love the Benko go Carlsen!

  • @Chesspwns298 c5 is not the benko, its just a benoni. It only becomes the benko gambit after b5, which Carlsen does indeed play. After c5 it could very easily transpose into several benoni book lines, but b5 creates the sac. Just thought I'd point out.

  • Carlsen is a fricken genius!

  • @25Atticus not really, everyone will be genius if Kacparov would train them

  • @HerrFickt Are you dumb? The only reason Kasparov took interest in the boy is because he showed a huge talent from the start. Magnus made a draw against Kasparov when he was 13 years old and Kaspy was still an active player and ranked number one. Does it bother you so much that someone is so good at something at that young age? I mean, you won't be able to make a draw against Kasparov in this life time, even if Kasparov himself trained you.

  • The best chess player in the world is from a country with only 4 million people :P NORWAY !!

  • Carlsen you are a classy guy for how you talked about your win, and gave a lot of props to Onischuk now I have a lot more respect for you.

  • ***** Delta Base 2010 Vol. 7 on ebay *****

  • i think it's not a benoni, it's a volga gambit to be more precise.

  • I'm surprised to see carlsen play the benoni.

  • Queen sac at the end... just sick.

  • They should split the screen in halves, the first should be this one but the other window should have the running clock and the moves/pieces so we can follow and study the game

  • at the 3:05 is Judith Polgar isn't?

  • ive nver seen magnus use the benoni before

  • I dont think we Norwegians know how big this fellow is..

  • Well, I'm such a lame, I love chess and studying now, but I'm already 22, so I have never been to any competition and on this video I've noticed for the first time that there are extra queens for promotion at the beginning of the game.

  • @dachevashe

It is mostly there for blitz as you really need to move quickly and waiting to find a queen doesn't help too much.

  • Comment removed

  • @GCLU Are you sure? I think that the situations when there are two queens of the same color on the board apper much more frequently than the ones with three knights of bishops. I believe this is the main reason.

  • i would love to smoke a spliff wiuth these guys

  • just so intense, i'm horrible!

  • It's cool that there's lots of Russian people in Chess.. I think all those old people playing at Brighton Beach apply too.

  • 3:06 POLGAR JUDIT !!

  • Magnus is crazy! :D he thinks 10 moves ahead against his opponent

  • @wownerd1994 15-20 and he remember ALL own match played in the last 6yrs -.-

  • Can't wait until he's World Champion. Go Magnus!!

  • Is it Judith Polgar at 3:05 ?

  • @schusterlehrling yes that's her.

  • i always get nervous when i see a queen sac like that

  • Why is Onischuk's hair so neat and tidy here?

  • carlsen magnus kkkkkkkkkkk naum aquentaria jogar 6 minutos ia perder logo

  • The future of chess...

  • He plays with so much speed and confidence Alexander can't keep up with him. He did a fine ass job though forcing a tiebreak.

  • that was an amazing finish nice harassment by the knight, clearing the right side for that pwn.

  • 2:40 alexsander moved before magnus cliked the clock~

  • yes its unconscient

  • @sobal79

That is quite common in these kind of matches where the time is extremely limited..

    Good observation though!

  • lol yeah i noticed that too but it didnt stop carlsen from creaming all over onischuk

  • dont understand how he won? was there a checkmate?

  • he dont make chekmate the other resign! well the next move will be pwn do d1 = queen , rook will took the queen and the bishop would catch the rook... and if you look to the board imagine that cenary, magnus will hve a piece advantage! =)

  • no, his opponent lost a piece so he resigned.

  • the opponent saw that he was lost then he gave up.. regular, players give up when they see that the situation is helpless. they dont play til checkmate

  • @magnuspoiss2 ..... '-_-

  • no my actual real name is magnus ...poiss means boy ..

  • @magnuspoiss2 thats great... >_> your point?

  • like watching grass grow!how bout strip chess lol

  • Would you have also told Mozart to stop composing and go into the science field?

  • yep

  • playing a game is non-productive. writing symphonies is very productive. bad comparison.

  • @G0D666 A beautifully played chess game IS a productive composition. Appreciated by players and preserved for centuries in chess books.

Fischer-Byrne 1956, is just as aesthetically pleasing as, say, Beethoven Opus 59.

Of course if you're not a chess player, this is hard to understand. Just like if you're not a classical music fan you wouldn't find a symphony very productive either.

  • what's wrong with you?

  • Nothing, wiseone0001 set me straight really quite gracefully. I failed to see this from his perspective, and, excuse the cliche, he opened my eyes to his, and I can understand the appreciation of chess that he must have. My initial train of thought was that music is for all, and a game like chess is only for those playing. I see now that it can be appreciated by observers.

  • Why did Carlsen have 4 Minutes on his clock in the 5th game and Onishuk with 5 minutes to start?

  • It's a Armageddon game: White gets 5 Minutes, but have to win. A draw count as "win" for black.

  • oh.. thanks :), never knew that

  • @Bosimon You could have answered because LIfe is unfair!

  • @Bosimon really ?

if so , thats an super interesting style of playing , i have to try this ! :D

  • @Serbia57 so if Black wins he gets 2 wins??

  • Comment removed

  • @beniceokay , thank you for your explanation. Later.

  • @Serbia57 because carlsen is more pro!

  • i guess he played chess in the english lessons XD

  • He did indeed:P

in school he played two students with a blindfold, 1 of them cheated, and he was able to tell exactly where! fucking amazing:O

  • @blazer90011 well, 2 blindfold games isnt really a world record in that discipline haha

  • ¿y cuál es el problema con no hablar inglés? Ni siquiera es la primera lengua del mundo!

  • @Nanusko entonces cual es seguramente no es el espanol

  • lol. Better than many of the russians.

Hes vocabulary is good, he just dont pronouns it very well.

  • and who cares, he is young...

  • lastima que el video este tomado de lado

    y no de arriva

  • Oooh, nice move at 7:17 with Carlsen's knight!

That was when Onischuk died... I think... ;)

I'm proud of being Norwegian! :D

  • i like tetris becaus the wine are making tables for institutions.. maybe chuck norris can do a tabledance with a spoon in the hand!!

  • Carlsens teacher Kasparov has managed to train his apprentice good. Magnus has became a great chess player, and his reputation continues growing. Well hopefully see more great things from him in the future.

  • He only recently began his teaching! Carlsen was a genius from birth, but of course, Kasparov'll help! ;)

  • magnus manages to win apparantly drawn positions. just a little slip from his opponent and then it's all over. he's also becoming an endgame expert.

  • ohhh ohhh ohhh! Voluntarly 4 mins against 5 mins?????hahahaha This was really funny. Poor onischuk. Aplastado!!!!

  • Carlsen is a walking computer with rybic installed.

  • he training with kasparov these days

  • Carlsen is as his strongest when he plays blitz.

  • Simply brilliant

  • BENKO GAMBIT! love that opening ^_^

  • wth!!!!> Scotch gambit 4tw

  • ew! benko gambit > scotch gambit

  • benko?

  • where took place this game?

  • in biel, switzerland

  • If I am right, they use Benko Gambit in the first part of the video.

  • yeah you have right

about the first game... i usuualy play that gambit

... is verry popular in those days!!!

  • good game my frend =)

  • Sacing the rook mast have shocked Onischuk!!!

He was forced to re-sacrifice his queen for that passed pawn and Carlsen will end up a whole rook up...

    :-D

  • 2:07 why magnus was laughing his ass off?

  • who won on the first game?

  • They drew the first game!

  • I love the board and clock.

  • I agree. Good video and great games.

  • LOL. Don't be ridiculous guys. That guy at 3:34 minutes is Swiss Grandmaster Yannick Pelletier. I admit that's a hard one. You have to really follow chess to know him.

  • At 3:34 Thats Not Josh Waitzkin It Is Teimour Radjabov

  • Great Queen sac at the end by Carlsen. Not only did he draw and win, but it looked like he had a winning position also.

  • Didn't he won that last game ? When he says he drawn with black I think he's referring to the very first game.

  • The last game was an armageddon match. So a draw for black equals a win. He basically just got a better position and so was offered a draw I believe because Onischuk knew that he could only draw and not win.

So it was a draw and a win.

  • Yes I get this armageddon part, but I really don't see white winning the last game. And white doesn't seem to propose a draw he smiles and shake his opponent's hand like he is giving up. I think the last game is 0-1 not 1/2-1/2.

  • Definitely a Carlsen win, it says so on the screen at the end, and there was no way white could prevent the pawn promotion, so Carlsen would have been at least a Rook up.

  • of course its a win. in chess you offer a hand shake only if you resign. if you offer a draw you can only do it through arbiter, so anyway, if you understand chess, you will see that in this last game magnus sacrificed his queen for a rook but he is promoting the pawn to queen three moves later, so Magnus is a rook up - hence a win. Onischuk resigns.

  • No is not. The game was draw

  • Sorry, the last game was a victory for Carlsen i thougt you refered to 2th game

  • all games but last one were drawn, last game carlsen won by resignation.

  • 3:34 josh waitzkin ?? one with glasses?

  • I doubt it. I believe Waitzkin has curly hair.

  • No that's defnitely not Waitzkin.

  • I didn't know Onischuk was American. I thought Nakamura and Kamsky were all we had.

  • kamsky and onischuk are russian. Just moved to the usa.

  • Carlsen n1

  • These guys are very good blitz players.I just wonder if Nakamura of USA can compete with these world top Grandmasters in classical time or blitz (5 minutes)

  • i dont understand who won in any of these games, and i dont understand chess at all! but i know that magnus carlsen is one very good player!!!

  • carlsen looks like matt damon:P^^

  • gr8 vid

  • Was Carlsen playing the Benko Gambit? It looked like it.

  • Yeah, that's the benko

  • If you are talking about the last game of the tiebreak, the opening moves (as much as I can tell from the video) were 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nf3 c5 with Carlsen offering a Modern Benoni. Onischuk declined and entered an English line with 4.Nc3 cxd4 5.Nxd4 Bb4+.

  • No, they were talking about the first game!

  • 6:16 till 6:18 he plays with the knight he just got lol that made me laugh

  • I love to see Carlsen playing, He will become the best player on the planet in very near future. All the best!

  • damn! he played Qxg1 instantly

  • I read your comment half way into video, and I was wondering what y
