They Generally use a 2 part rhythm, one part lead, or a "1 part rhythm, 2 part- harmonised (Majord 3rds and fifths usually) lead.

xD well u'll see, in the 80s the two guitarist in the band were dave murray and adrian smith, but in the early 90s smith began a career as solist, so the sustitute was janick gers. dickinson left the band too, so when steve harris asked dickinson for going back to the band, dickinson said only if smith does it too, so since then there are 3 guitar players. (sorry about my english but isn't my first language).

No, Bruce never played guitar. There are 3 because in the beginning, they had 2, then one of them quit and was replaced by a new guitarist, but then re-joined later on. So now they have 3. Allowing for a 2 part harmony with an electric guitar rhythm backing. Quite a pleasant sound.

saw em live mis '80's in melbourne australia and again recently - best live song for mine is NUMBER - greatest intro eva, respect every other song but i cry when this is played. when released was a LOT more powerful than all around it - Metallica, Manowar, Motorhead and all other bands starting with M execpted - aside from Motley Crue and Mama's Boys.
