this music is fun to play sometimes.. i would call it more of a 80's rock/metal guitarists wank session. haha which is fun to do if your a guitar player. Its very technical and learning this style teaches you a ton about technique as jazz/fusion teaches you about theory.
sure it involves theory.. harmonic minor scale and melodic minor, and the aolean scale. All this neoclassical style stuff is always minor (which is why it all sounds the same). You can also add some other scales like phrygian dominant, and a few other modes of the Harmonic Minor scale. Theory is everywhere in music, its just how you look at it.

Really great stuff. I actually enjoy Joe Stump better than Yngwie for the pure fact that he switches it from the typical pedal tones and harmonic minor wankery every now and again. Ben's pretty good, too, but he's got a ways to go.
