While I do not know whether or not she was referring to a specific incident. what comes to mind Is the Westburro Babtist Church's protesting at Matthew Shepard's funeral. Matthew shepard was a gay man that was beaten to death because he was gay. While I respect the fact that you have the right to believe what you will, I hope you do realize that there are not very many Gays in this world that have not tried to be straight at one point, myself included. almost killed me, and has killed others.

If something makes you angry you just get angry. There is no stopping it. You can decide to not act on that anger but you cant stop the initial feeling. Attraction is no different.

I believe that gay people have a right to marriage based on the non-aggression principle, the rational idea that something cannot be "immoral" unless it constitutes an initiation of force or coercion against another, based on the Constitutional principle of equality before the law, based on the emotional appeal of real people being denied the same rights as everyone else, and my personal desire to get married one day.

@ih8tu100 Actually, I do have more evidence to say that it is not grounds for discrimination. It's called the Constitution. The 14th Amendment forbids discrimination, and the 1st forbids the establishment of a religion. So unless you've got some evidence that shows that same sex marriage harms someone else, you're just plain wrong. Theft and murder are wrong because they are an initiation of force, not because the Bible says so. We've gone over this.

Anecdotal evidence aside, if you look at history, when a certain group is systematically denied legal protections for their long-term relationships, it discourages long term relationships and promotes promiscuity. This was true for American blacks during slavery, and it is true for American gays today.
