Right, I know the Hawkwinds from young and old. Aware Dave is pissing himself at the back (his band, do what he wants) but this is a fucking beauty, come, punks, metal, skins, and cunts, come and come, Come
@snakespence Gunslinger are awesome.., Alan Davey is a brilliant bass player (2nd only to God (Lemmy) himself your a lucky guy to have played with them :)
I have played Huw's Gibson Howard Roberts guitar (the same one featured in this video). It plays like silk. I was even stupid enough to offer him my ES335 for it as a swap but Huw told me to fuck off! LOL
Remember seeing them on this tour at Leeds Uni, then at Reading festival when they headlined. Stunning. If you watch closely you can tell that Alan Davey's bass playing has been overdubbed. Too many notes & not enough movement on his left hand.
thank god for hawkwind j tull yes genesis rush floyd ground hogs etc give me a lp cover anytime over downloads glad i was a kid in the 70s todays bands talentless tossers
the guitar work on this track is soooo good, probs one of my fave tracks off Chronicles Of The Black Sword, its soo amazing, this is the album i remember most growin up as a kid, my dad had it on all the time when i was young, i dont think theres a band of this genre that can beat Hawkwind, everything theyve done is good and it sounds amazing when your off your box on shrooms, i reccomend liberty caps to everyone, just wait till about end of september (in england) and youll start seein em about!
I could not live without Hawkwind music. Funny - my 8 year old daughter came down while I was watching this video and tells me she knows "Motorway City" and "Silver Machine" and that Moonglum is her favorite....excellent....more added to to spaceship Hawkwind.
I remember seeing Hawkwind with Huw a dozen or more times in the 80's, and Moonglum was, for me, always the highlight of the gig. Can't fathom why it never made the Chronicles... lp. Excellent guitar solos by Huw - along with Adrian Smith, the best rock/metal guitarists the UK ever produced.
To me the mood makes moonglum the best hawkwind song: it's feels tragic, yet spurs of hope and glory... It's a song that gives one new energy whenever one is a bit down... yet respecting the mood without neglecting, i.e. it feels 'real', like the song understands one soul... Hard to explain, but worth a try...
The golden void is another epic song of them... so great...
Lucky you. By the time the band toured the States again, Huw had already jumped ship again. He's one of my favorite guitarists, and one of the things I first liked in Hawkwind, as Xenon Codex was my first Hawkwind album. It's always bugged me they couldn't work out a US tour or even a few dates here while Huw was in the band! :(
got to be said that this is my all time favorite song, little strange as im only 23 but my dad is hawkwind mad so ive been brought up listening to them daily!! hawkwind as actually the 1st live act i ever saw (alien 4 '95) so thanks for uploading!!
A great live show that just didn't get filmed well sadly. I loved this tour and enjoyed the gig almost as much as Atomhenge 77. I saw this at oxford from the god's.
yeah a lot better audio than the other upload that has 12K+ views. This is a great song not featured on the LP, only the live album, live is usually better anyway...thx for this

two great voices Huw Lloyd & Alan Davey, love this song. Not sure if any other band has devoted so many songs to a series of books?

There is something "Real" about Hawkwind that none of the other British "hippy" bands ever came close to achieving.

@tacsmoker Apparently the band were rushed through the studio and weren't able to record as much as they would've liked.
