I started dancing ballet at age 2...i did it professionally for a few years. That helped pole dancing come easy. I Have been pole dancing 10 years now but you will start to pick some cool stuff up in the first year you start if you do it enough. I am actually really not that flexible for a dancer anymore, i try to stretch everyday tough :)
question, how come people say pole dancing is inapropriate, and little girls shouldn't do it, you know i think that it should be fine even for little girls as long as the little girls don't do like sexy moves but do like tricks on the pole i think its fine but i don't know, any way awsome job, i wish i could do that.
I don't find it inappropriate at all. The tricks and movement is no worse then that in a Hip Hop class or a Jazz class. I think I did risque routines at 12 years old in a jazz class and wore less then i do when I pole dance :) I think it is the whole stripping thing that people associate it with, which I love and think is sexy, but not for young girls :)
But pole dancing is awesome and far from inappropriate in my eyes :)

Thanks...i am working on a website currently but no instructional videos becausei own a pole dance studio. In my opinion, I think they are very dangerous and I would never trust to learn pole tricks off a video. You have noone to spot you or tell you if you are doing something wrong. I often get girls in my studio that have hurt themselves from videos. The best tricks I have ever seen are in clubs, the more clubs you work the more tricks you will learn :) Good Luck!!!

amazing smooth movements i get nervous when i see them looking kind of rstic haha you look GREAT on the pole keep up the good work next thing you will be an instructor! my first class starts TOMORROW but I just found out 2 days ago i am PREGNANT!! it's hard to say...you will always bruise a little...this is far from a "pretty" sport...but a lot depends on what you are doing, how easily you bruise, and if you are evening climbing correctly...it's really hard to tell from just that...i fyou post a video o fyou climbing and how you were sitting i might be able to help. Usually you will just get used to doing whatever you are doing and not bruise so much ;)

it's hard to say because ihave an extensive dance background...and a lot of my style comes from that...as far as tricks go...probably a couple of years of learning how to build up the strength and how to actually do them ;)
Wow, I love that you're so dedicated to everything that you do. I usually start something and then never finish with it but I've always wanted to learn how to dance and I think that it might be one thing I don't give up on. Not only that I've had two kids like back to back and I was wanting to get back into shape and I know that it would help a lot. I was wanting to ask you if you knew of any instruction videos because we don't have classes for it and would it be harder to learn it with a video?
If there are no classes in your area then a video is the only way, however I never suggest that becausea video can't correct you when your doing something wrong, and statistically people never stick to learning anything from a video...but if youhave the right dedication it may just work out! I don't really have any reccomendations on videos though. Good luck it's fun!!

i just wanna say that you are great i wanted to learn how to pole dance because i saw a girl do really good at a club once and i really liked it then i saw your videos and wow you are amazing i REALLY want to learn now just cant find any local work out spots yet and i dont want my first time expirementing on a pole to be in front of a ton of people in the club if you have any tips please let me know i would really love to learn
My best tip is find music you can really feel...it will make your routine beautiful to watch...dont just pick a popular song...find something unique to you ;)
Most is self taught in clubs...then eventually i took some classes but realized that i wasn't learning anything because I had already learned all this from other dancers. I think i actually leanred more in clubs then i did ever taking a class...so when i teach i make sure i teach everything i leanred throughout the years dancing myself.

I have been pole dancing about 10 years..but it doesn't take long to learn tricks...thats just strength. What takes long is being able to make it look pretty...thats what usually takes a while. Tricks are easy once you build up the strength...looking sexy is the hard part ;)
i read that you really push on wearing the shoes, i'm still getting the hang of using the huge heals, but i really like them, do you have any tips on the most comfortable brand, height, or thickness of the heel??
Yes...Pleaser is my favorite...of all the dancers I know 9 out of 10 wears them and likes them the best. I guess a lot depends on the shape of your foot as well. I perfer the 6 3/4 inch heels (Sky) in Pleaser shoes. 6" are ok too (Kiss) If you have wide feet the patent top is better or if your feet are narrow the clear plastic ones seem to be better...but once again a matter of preference and what I have noticed that works for people.
hahaha...they look scary but they aren't that bad...much easier then street high heels. They are meant to be danced in so there is a lot of support. Mos tpeople are pretty surprised when they first start wearing them ;)
Do u suppose u could post a vid of u dancing without shoes? I'm not a fetishist- I just think the shoes get in the way & force a dancer to compensate in their movements & foot placement as they dance. Your footwork is unique & I'd like to see a vid that focuses on that.
Thanks for the request but I don't dance without shoes. It's dancergous and ugly. I completely 100 percent disaagree with you. If i have my shoes on or off, I dance the same. They do not change my style of dance, hinder, or force different movement. It would be like ice skating without skates...however there are a million beginning pole dancers on here that haven't figured that out yet and all their vids are barefoot ;) I am sure you can find someone wh will do that for ya! I totally agree with you! Shoes don't hinder me in any way. For me, they help me with balance, posture, foot placement and as a bonus, they make my legs look longer. Most of the girls who post videos in barefeet don't focus consciously on their feet during the dance so they forget to point their toes and it is UGLY UGLY! I'm ALWAYS the only one in class who ever wears her shoes because it feels weird and awkward not having them. I'll stick up for shoes any day! :)
Thats EXACTLY how I feel. Many of these pole tricks that originated in clubs are MEANT to be done with shoes. The only time that I don't wear shoes is while warming up and every now and then or if I am on carpet dancing. Other then that it's shoes all the time. To each his own though I guess ;) I just think it looks better and is safer with shoes. After all the shoes are DESIGNED to be danced in. I had a great chat recently with the owner of Pleaser shoes about this as well.
I agree as well, I much prefer my heels. Sometimes I will use some jazz shoes for new tricks in case I fall an need that extra safety net that a flat foot can offer, but over all heels are where it is at....I find others like us (former ballet/dance training) seem to feel the same way about the heels so I wonder if that has anything to do with it..things that make you go hmm ;) Oh and if talk to the owner of Pleaser shoes again tell him they are theeeee BEST!!!!
You're right about the shoes. I feel like I would have had an easier time learning if anyone in my area taught pole. YouTube is all I have right now, and I have found that those that teach pole advocate dancing in heels for a reason. I do find that my feet feel better after just climbing the pole just for having a layer of vinyl or leather between my feet and the pole. My center of gravity, posture, and my walk are much better for it:) I'm asking my hubby for Pleaser shoes:)

I dunno...there are a few...but i seriously warn you they tear up your hands and they are dangerous. I would NEVER reccomend some of the cheapy ones out there.

The pole does both...but usually in vids i keep it on spin. Although i think stationary is a lot more fun and a better work out.

it's hard to say...you will always bruise a little...this is far from a "pretty" sport...but a lot depends on what you are doing, how easily you bruise, and if you are evening climbing correctly...it's really hard to tell from just that...i fyou post a video o fyou climbing and how you were sitting i might be able to help. Usually you will just get used to doing whatever you are doing and not bruise so much ;)

it's hard to say because ihave an extensive dance background...and a lot of my style comes from that...as far as tricks go...probably a couple of years of learning how to build up the strength and how to actually do them ;)

Wow, I love that you're so dedicated to everything that you do. I usually start something and then never finish with it but I've always wanted to learn how to dance and I think that it might be one thing I don't give up on. Not only that I've had two kids like back to back and I was wanting to get back into shape and I know that it would help a lot. I was wanting to ask you if you knew of any instruction videos because we don't have classes for it and would it be harder to learn it with a video?

If there are no classes in your area then a video is the only way, however I never suggest that becausea video can't correct you when your doing something wrong, and statistically people never stick to learning anything from a video...but if youhave the right dedication it may just work out! I don't really have any reccomendations on videos though. Good luck it's fun!!

i just wanna say that you are great i wanted to learn how to pole dance because i saw a girl do really good at a club once and i really liked it then i saw your videos and wow you are amazing i REALLY want to learn now just cant find any local work out spots yet and i dont want my first time expirementing on a pole to be in front of a ton of people in the club if you have any tips please let me know i would really love to learn

My best tip is find music you can really feel...it will make your routine beautiful to watch...dont just pick a popular song...find something unique to you ;)

Most is self taught in clubs...then eventually i took some classes but realized that i wasn't learning anything because I had already learned all this from other dancers. I think i actually leanred more in clubs then i did ever taking a class...so when i teach i make sure i teach everything i leanred throughout the years dancing myself.

I have been pole dancing about 10 years..but it doesn't take long to learn tricks...thats just strength. What takes long is being able to make it look pretty...thats what usually takes a while. Tricks are easy once you build up the strength...looking sexy is the hard part ;)

Yes...Pleaser is my favorite...of all the dancers I know 9 out of 10 wears them and likes them the best. I guess a lot depends on the shape of your foot as well. I perfer the 6 3/4 inch heels (Sky) in Pleaser shoes. 6" are ok too (Kiss) If you have wide feet the patent top is better or if your feet are narrow the clear plastic ones seem to be better...but once again a matter of preference and what I have noticed that works for people.

hahaha...they look scary but they aren't that bad...much easier then street high heels. They are meant to be danced in so there is a lot of support. Mos tpeople are pretty surprised when they first start wearing them ;)

Do u suppose u could post a vid of u dancing without shoes? I'm not a fetishist- I just think the shoes get in the way & force a dancer to compensate in their movements & foot placement as they dance. Your footwork is unique & I'd like to see a vid that focuses on that.

Thanks for the request but I don't dance without shoes. It's dancergous and ugly. I completely 100 percent disaagree with you. If i have my shoes on or off, I dance the same. They do not change my style of dance, hinder, or force different movement. It would be like ice skating without skates...however there are a million beginning pole dancers on here that haven't figured that out yet and all their vids are barefoot ;) I am sure you can find someone wh will do that for ya! I totally agree with you! Shoes don't hinder me in any way. For me, they help me with balance, posture, foot placement and as a bonus, they make my legs look longer. Most of the girls who post videos in barefeet don't focus consciously on their feet during the dance so they forget to point their toes and it is UGLY UGLY! I'm ALWAYS the only one in class who ever wears her shoes because it feels weird and awkward not having them. I'll stick up for shoes any day! :)

Thats EXACTLY how I feel. Many of these pole tricks that originated in clubs are MEANT to be done with shoes. The only time that I don't wear shoes is while warming up and every now and then or if I am on carpet dancing. Other then that it's shoes all the time. To each his own though I guess ;) I just think it looks better and is safer with shoes. After all the shoes are DESIGNED to be danced in. I had a great chat recently with the owner of Pleaser shoes about this as well.

I agree as well, I much prefer my heels. Sometimes I will use some jazz shoes for new tricks in case I fall an need that extra safety net that a flat foot can offer, but over all heels are where it is at....I find others like us (former ballet/dance training) seem to feel the same way about the heels so I wonder if that has anything to do with it..things that make you go hmm ;) Oh and if talk to the owner of Pleaser shoes again tell him they are theeeee BEST!!!!

You're right about the shoes. I feel like I would have had an easier time learning if anyone in my area taught pole. YouTube is all I have right now, and I have found that those that teach pole advocate dancing in heels for a reason. I do find that my feet feel better after just climbing the pole just for having a layer of vinyl or leather between my feet and the pole. My center of gravity, posture, and my walk are much better for it:) I'm asking my hubby for Pleaser shoes:)

I dunno...there are a few...but i seriously warn you they tear up your hands and they are dangerous. I would NEVER reccomend some of the cheapy ones out there.
