Man I have to say, STYX is such an awesome Classic band. Dennis DeYoung, Man what a great voice. Thank you STYX for rocking out while I was growing up! Oh yea and before I forget, 4 people truely suck and have no clue as to what great rock n roll is.
Hey old guys, do you remember when this album broke out? We knew Styx just a little from "Lady" and maybe "Crystal Ball" and then here comes this MONSTER album with so much music and depth. I'll never forget being mesmorized listening to this album for the first time.
Without Dennis DeYoung there is no Styx. What is out there today calling themselves Styx, is just a bunch of has beens missing their glory days, not realizing it was DDY that made their glory possible.
Styx would have faded away had Tommy Shaw not joined, its cool to have 2 if not 3 talented songwriters Dennis was mostly cheese songs but he had a few really good ones .
Styx would have faded away had Tommy Shaw not joined, its cool to have 2 if not 3 talented songwriters. Dennis was mostly cheese songs but he had a few really good ones .
@LuigieatsBabies Dennis was NOT in Damn Yankees. Tommy was. Tommy quit Styx right after Kiulroy Was Here & Dennis invited him back in 1994. Then Tommy had to screw it up & kick Dennis outta Styx. Styx is ok but would be so much better if Tommy & JY would find a way to patch things up w/DDY. I agree to an extent w/LibertatisExTyrannis & what he said. W/o DDY there is no Styx. W/o the Panozza (not sure if I spelled it right - RIP John) there's no Styx either. But DDY, JY & Tommy are Styx.
GOD I LOVE THIS SONG! that guitar lead wails! I used to trip out to this vinyl lying on the floor. without LSD. the lyrics STILL ring true! awesome. finally going to see these space monkeys in 10 days. with YES !
the 1st time i heard this song i was on L.S.D ""o my god"" i was just a teenager,now i'm 47{who by the way still acks like a teenager}thank god for L.S.D.♥♥
We all live in a society of labels and class. We want to be on the top because of a terrible norm. But we forget that we need to live our own lives. Not the one somebody has told us to. I support this philosophy.
@bamfman88482405 WOW! I thought, Justin Bieber would never been mentioned in a Styx vid comment, I mean really. And There he is mentioned. Why does he have to be in EVERYTHING! :O
All of reality is an illusion that exists inside our own head. All that is out there is vibrational frequencies which are interpreted by our brain and turned into the sound we hear, colours we recognize and the three dimensional shapes we see. In essence it is all a grand illusion.
@Freax84 No, that would mean reality is subjective, which it is not. The universe would exist if you didnt. Our brains perceive, possibly differently, what actually exists.
@coolliger I dont believe reality is completely subjective, but have you heard of Quantum Immortality? A researcher puts a gun to his head, and by some mechanism he has a 50/50 chance when he pulls the trigger that he will die. When this happens there can be atleast 2 versions, one where he lives and one where he dies, and running the scenario over and over there will always be 1 copy of him alive. This copy will seem to never die. He can only consciously observe the outcome in which he lives.
I've seen Styx without Dennis and they are still excellent. As long as JY and Shaw are there the vocals still are the best, and besides it's Deyoungs choice not to be there.
More likely "Artistic Differences". Dennis always seemed to want the group to be operatic with it being about him. I like Styx much better without him. Don't get me wrong, he is a big part of why the band was so good, but IMHO he got a bit of an ego thing going.
@troldahl Dennis was apart of the band, he had some energy around him that got the crowd going. it's more of a disapointment since he left, hell it's not styx without him,
I remember driving down Hollywood Blvd., stoned and on my way to Guitar Center when the radio DJ announced "we have a brand new song by Styx, here it goes......I immediatly headed to the record store and bought it. One of the best records of all time.
