@aurias01 Tell me you didnt just say that!? How dare you say some shit like that man!? This show is great! It iss AWESOME!!! What in the blue hell is wrong with you!? You're the one thats garbage!!!
Mr cooper was the best show...ive seen in a long time, and it wasnt a typical black comedy,it was a wholesome show for everybody no matter the color they dont make shows like this anymore
Gary Boren and Steve Chesne did all music on Cooper, the last three years working for WB, Michael Morris, Bob Raff and Bickley/Warren. Anybody wanna hear the demo, pre- air version? BTW, the 2nd year theme song was NOT sung by James Brown, although it sounds like him. I wish I could buy the 5 year series in stores.
True fact: Before "Hangin' With Mr Cooper" was supposed to go off the air, rumors had spread that it would move to CBS from ABC for the 1997-98 season. (In fact, CBS had planned to place the show back on Friday nights, as they followed through with "Family Matters" and "Step by Step" for it's "Block Party CBS" Lineup, that had sort of been a ripoff of ABC's TGIF.) However, CBS had declined the show, and ABC had ended the show before the 1997-98 season had come.
I heard about the CBS Block Party. It only lasted one season. And shows that were once popular years ago were not popular anymore (Family Matters and Step by Step). None of these shows even ranked in the top 100 in Nielsen ratings.
Honestly, it was better that Hangin' With Mr. Cooper was ended on ABC. If aired on CBS, it would not have been popular and besides, the show had a great ending!
This is from the last 3 seasons(1994-95 season, 1995-96 season, and the 1996-97 season) which the theme song was sung by James Brown and written by Gary Boren and Stephen Chesne. In the last season, ABC had moved the show to Saturday nights from it's TGIF Friday Night lineup slot, (Which was on Friday nights from April 1993 to May 1996), and the final episode aired on August 30th, 1997.
@vzeu019j Oh man, this really brings back memories... It's so crazy to see people talking about this on youtube!
I am Gary Boren's son, and he did indeed write (and record) this theme with the help of Steve Chesne. However, I can assure you that James Brown did not sing on it. He will tell you the same thing, which he actually does a few comments up. "odball101" is my dad. (the 'demo, pre-air version' he mentions is kind of a give-away)
Lol, anyone besides me notice that most of the words in the lyrics shown on the bottom were misspelled. Methinks this was done purposely by the white producers in some lame attempt to prove that they're down. Either that or they assume that all blacks speak like that (i.e: ebonics instead of proper english).
This was the best intro and theme song for the show. I never really liked the En Vogue one or the "Soul Man" shit as much once this one came out. This was perfect for the show and the times for me. Damn, I miss the early '90s.
