He can focus on the speed of his strikes since the mass of his arms will generate enough power to disarm and hurt. Pushing, tosses, etc. are all easier when bigger than the opponent...it's physics.
A big guy skilled in using his mass and has some conditioning is a very dangerous man.

Hmmmm I think Aikido may have some real world use with its wristlocks and so on, but I don't think much else. Gene LeBell famously dealt with Seagal in easy fashion, although this doesn't make him rubbish as LeBell would do that most of us. I am pretty sceptical of any martial art that doesn't spar, but would like to be convinced otherwise as I like its ethos.
Seagal is a true Aikido master..Most people underestimate his speed..He is lightning quick..In a lot of his movies they actually have to show some of his moves in slow motion..But he is getting older..He is definately one older fella I wouldnt want to screw around with..

I've never seen movies shot in such dark filters as I have when I see scenes from Seagal movies, where they have to in order to hide his massive, obese whale body.
You'd think if it came down to you having to tell a director that he has to shoot in such dark filters, that you'd have some humility, but Steven Seagal is one of the most arrogant people on Earth. Go figure.

Hmmmm I think Aikido may have some real world use with its wristlocks and so on, but I don't think much else. Gene LeBell famously dealt with Seagal in easy fashion, although this doesn't make him rubbish as LeBell would do that most of us. I am pretty sceptical of any martial art that doesn't spar, but would like to be convinced otherwise as I like its ethos.

Seagal is a true Aikido master..Most people underestimate his speed..He is lightning quick..In a lot of his movies they actually have to show some of his moves in slow motion..But he is getting older..He is definately one older fella I wouldnt want to screw around with..

@omga14 He's also how old? Just cuz he told a couple mix martial artists how to do a front kick lol...doesnt make him a badass. He's like 60 and his speed has greatly diminished. He does all these fast looking slap/chops, but none of them have any real power behind them. Give him an uppercut right hook combo, and i promise he will be asleep.

@useless241 that depends on what you expect. Aikido is a defensive martial art based on dicipline and harmony, not an offensive martial art like kung fu. if you expect a fighter with spectacular kicks you are looking at the wrong martial art.
