Why on Earth should people not have sex? Abortion, adoption, and keeping it are equally ok, it all comes down to individual choice.

Adoption is not awesome. As an adoptee my brothers never accepted me, my adoptive mother was a bitch to me, and I never had the opportunity for higher education or even to learn to drive a car. As a child I was often cold and hungry and we had no luxuries. I had no holidays, or an allowance. I left home when I was 18 and never looked back.

I was adopted at birth. My parents who raised me are wonderful and I had a great childhood. My feeling however, is that it is a personal choice. For one, there are too many people who are homeless, starving, neglected, and miserable. There will never be a shortage of human beings. Even if a woman doesn't want to go through the physical trauma of pregnancy and childbirth, she should have the option to terminate. Obviously, the earlier, the better. And birth control is NOT difficult to attain!

Adoption works wonders for the lucky ones, I can't stress that enough. The adoption process is a long, grueling process. People have to front thousands to get the child of their choice, and in most cases, good people get turned down after being on a waiting list for years. And it's sad to say, but most people want healthy, white babies. Where does that leave the kids born with disabilities?
There are orphanages worldwide that are overflowing with kids. The ones in the middle east are horrible--

Giving your daughter up for adoption may have worked out for you, but you don't really know how it will "work out" for your daughter. Many adoptees have abusive families. Some adoptees don't seem to have many ill effects, and that's a blessing. But many of us struggle with lifelong aftereffects. An infant being given away by its mother is not something to celebrate! Many adoptees are sick of hearing how great adoption is! I'm not saying it's never needed, but there's a shadow side to it.
If giving up your daughter for adoption worked out for you, than thats good. I did it at 25. God blessed my life, my daughter's life, and the adoptive parents she call mom & dad now. In a way it's even easier at a younger age, because the adoption is seen by far as the only option for raising.

I think that the problem with adoption is that young women with nothing but this child go in, and expect not to have trouble parting with the child. It is different, in the early stages of pregnancy when abortion is the option these people choose. Unfortunately, when these young people have babies, often the environment is not complete, and child abuse can be a result. The reason I am pro choice, if for no other, is that I can't overestimate a woman; we are strong, but we aren't all monumental.

It is great that she is standing by her daughter, at least publicly. We have no idea what happened at home when she learned of it. For all we know she kicked her daughter out, only asking her to move back for the public eye. I do not believe this is what happened, but, again, we don't know. Before you decide I am an 'ignorant democrat' and dismiss me, I encouraged my sister to have her third child and give him up for adoption instead of abortion. She was a mature, responsible adult in a difficult situation. It was very hard, but the right choice for her and the child. The adoptive parents said they would keep in touch, and did for about a year. They stopped, went back on their word to tell him about her, and will not share with the generous person who made their dream possible.

The problem with adoption is that the mother has to carry this baby around. Care for, grows to love, then give it away. Nevermind depression that sets in or other issues. Adoption is not full proof neither is abortion. Teaching our children what to do and not to do is the right way.

You can't feel when you don't exist. It's not pretty but not all adopted children are happy. Many adoptive parents are abusive and never really made the bond they expected. Of course many of them are angels of mercy, but it's not the norm. Plus, there aren't enough parents for all the orphans.
Adoption happens when a girl has a bond to her baby but she knows he/she would have a better life with someone else. Abortion is when someone does not want the baby. The two are not interchangeable. We know the stupid decisions we made at one point yet we fail to realize that children both our own and others are going to make these mistakes as well. Also, in regards to Bristol Palin, I think the best decision she could have made would have been to have an abortion. Of course they should be aware of consequences like pregnancy and STDs, but you know what? should those pop up, there are ways to deal with them, such as antibiotics and abortions. And you don't know whether they used a condom and it broke, or what else may have happened. And there IS no baby whose fault it could even be, anyway, not until the pregnancy has progressed PAST the point where most abortions are done (1st Trimester).

And I see no reason for teenagers to wait, we're all free to do what we want as long as it's consensual. The age of consent is 16 in most states, and it's 14 in Canada. I personally think that as long as they have been given proper sex ed, 14 year olds are mature enough to have sex.

Abortion is acceptable because there is no reason for it not to be. Once you hit 5 or 6 months, yeah, the issue is a bit murky, but prior to viability, you cannot call a fetus a "human person" and grant it rights. Rights are for the living. I am 100% pro-choice, and support all abortions, no matter what the reason. That said, Adoption is a choice that is every bit as valid and acceptable as abortion. Abortion, adoption, and keeping it are equally ok, it all comes down to individual choice.

Adoption is not awesome. As an adoptee my brothers never accepted me, my adoptive mother was a bitch to me, and I never had the opportunity for higher education or even to learn to drive a car. As a child I was often cold and hungry and we had no luxuries. I had no holidays, or an allowance. I left home when I was 18 and never looked back.

I was adopted at birth. My parents who raised me are wonderful and I had a great childhood. My feeling however, is that it is a personal choice. For one, there are too many people who are homeless, starving, neglected, and miserable. There will never be a shortage of human beings. Even if a woman doesn't want to go through the physical trauma of pregnancy and childbirth, she should have the option to terminate. Obviously, the earlier, the better. And birth control is NOT difficult to attain!

Adoption works wonders for the lucky ones, I can't stress that enough. The adoption process is a long, grueling process. People have to front thousands to get the child of their choice, and in most cases, good people get turned down after being on a waiting list for years. And it's sad to say, but most people want healthy, white babies. Where does that leave the kids born with disabilities?
There are orphanages worldwide that are overflowing with kids. The ones in the middle east are horrible--

Giving your daughter up for adoption may have worked out for you, but you don't really know how it will "work out" for your daughter. Many adoptees have abusive families. Some adoptees don't seem to have many ill effects, and that's a blessing. But many of us struggle with lifelong aftereffects. An infant being given away by its mother is not something to celebrate! Many adoptees are sick of hearing how great adoption is! I'm not saying it's never needed, but there's a shadow side to it.

I did it at 25. God blessed my life, my daughter's life, and the adoptive parents she call mom & dad now. In a way it's even easier at a younger age, because the adoption is seen by far as the only option for raising.

I think that the problem with adoption is that young women with nothing but this child go in, and expect not to have trouble parting with the child. It is different, in the early stages of pregnancy when abortion is the option these people choose. Unfortunately, when these young people have babies, often the environment is not complete, and child abuse can be a result. The reason I am pro choice, if for no other, is that I can't overestimate a woman; we are strong, but we aren't all monumental.

It is great that she is standing by her daughter, at least publicly. We have no idea what happened at home when she learned of it. For all we know she kicked her daughter out, only asking her to move back for the public eye. I do not believe this is what happened, but, again, we don't know. Standing up in front of the world knowingly lying and slamming people is not what I would call a good mother or a good example. It does not matter if others do it too, before someone makes that point.

Before you decide I am an 'ignorant democrat' and dismiss me, I encouraged my sister to have her third child and give him up for adoption instead of abortion. She was a mature, responsible adult in a difficult situation. It was very hard, but the right choice for her and the child. The adoptive parents said they would keep in touch, and did for about a year. They stopped, went back on their word to tell him about her, and will not share with the generous person who made their dream possible.

While making a difficult decision, I encouraged...yes, it is the right word, her in the decision I thought was best for her and all involved. I did not say I made her, twisted her arm. My sister is the most generous, responsible person I know; having someone help her with a decision does not negate that decision. If you can not make an arugement without insults, you shouldn't be making them, it is a sign of weakness.

if abortion becomes illegal, where are we going to put all these new born unwanted babies? yes we have come a long way when it comes to adoption, and the conditions they will live in. but there are TOO many unwanted pregnancies. it is very dificult for a family to qualify as adoptive parents.the only REAL solution is teaching our youth how to have protected sex. show them their options before they get pregnant. the only real way to keep unwanted pregnacies to a min. abstinence is urealistic.

The problem with adoption is that the mother has to carry this baby around. Care for, grows to love, then give it away. Nevermind depression that sets in or other issues. Adoption is not full proof neither is abortion. Teaching our children what to do and not to do is the right way.

A true Christian adoption is a blessing most people unfortunately will never witness. It is our chance to experience a tiny fragment of what God's love for us must be like. Having the strength to place the one I love most in the world into another woman's arms, to give her abetter life, was something God did for me. There is such thing as "good suffering" I was depressed more before the rape & birth, than I am now. I cry for her everyday, but know I did god in God's eyes and He gives me strength

You can't feel when you don't exist. It's not pretty but not all adopted children are happy. Many adoptive parents are abusive and never really made the bond they expected. Of course many of them are angels of mercy, but it's not the norm. Plus, there aren't enough parents for all the orphans.

Adoption happens when a girl has a bond to her baby but she knows he/she would have a better life with someone else. Abortion is when someone does not want the baby. The two are not interchangeable. You should never tell anyone to carry a pregnancy to term if she doesn't want the baby. What if you were adopted and wanted to meet ur real mom? Wouldn't it suck to know you were a mistake?
I also don't want women who ignore precautions to have babies. They'll just keep doing it.

I disagree. i'd rather hear my mom didn't want me (which wouldn't happen, because my adoptive parents would protect me from that) but if it did Id certainly rather hear some lady who is not my mom tell me I was a mistake, then be dead. Life is precious! There are enough people with love to give! I'd pray for my mom if she still though I was a mistake after 18 years too...only someone very disturbed could say that.
