  • Do you know where a good tutorial video is for using this thing? I got one and I'm using preset patches... I have no clue how to make a good destortion patch or a good lead patch....

  • @godchaser555 I have several videos that show you exactly how to do it.

  • just got 1 of theses, thanks for the great info !!!!

  • Whats the song hes playing?

  • @1000000deth The Extremist.

  • hey there dude! would you recommend boss gt8 or x3 live? i had gt 6 for a while and i want to go a step higher. i have learned how to use boss which means i will find it esier to play gt8. but, it feels like pod x3 live can offer much more of metallica which is what i play every day. what do u think?

  • @polishskaterdude32 The X3-Live would probably be better for that type of music.

  • I loved the dual tone you dialed in on POD X3 Live! I have the X3 PRO (rackmount), and I'm going to add your settings into my users patch. Your playing is fantastic. Enjoyed the video and I will subscribe.

  • @MrPrincepop Thank you

  • jesus christ! by the time he has finished bollocking around the show will be over.

  • I just got a new amp - Peavey 6505 112 (Tube) but it lacks high distortion and gain even when I turn it up loud. It is just a very dry tone. Not bad at all but not very versitale. Could I use one of these through it to get more options in tones ?

  • @TigertailzBezerk I would just add a distortion pedal. There are several on the market.

  • @extremevideopro Thanks dude ill look into some

  • @TigertailzBezerk It's becomes very versitale if you play a 7string or a 6string tuned to B or lower. :) Greetings

  • @TigertailzBezerk Holy cow, the 6505+112 lacks distortion and gain?? That's crazy... you mayhap have acquired a defective unit... watch Guitar World's review of the amp and see if that is more or less like your amp sounds to compare. Either you're not explaining the malady well enough, or there is something wrong with your amp! Bright side- Peavey is a great company, and repair work on items under warranty should go very quickly and smoothly for you...

  • hi Glenn...one question: i'm going for an upgrade in my rig and my choice in on digital processors, because I play a little bitt of everything from blues to death metal, so i need versatility. Should I getn the X3 live or the HD500? i really like the clean-crunch on the HDs but I'm confused about the high gain tones, which i think work best on X3, at least on the leads, even if HD high gains seem to have more "body"...your opinion? thanks

  • @rizzometal92 Yes Andrea, the X3 is better for Thrash or Death Metal. The new HD's just don't have the tight saturated high gain it takes for that music.

  • @extremevideopro thank you very much. are the clean-crunch tones decent compared to HD ones?

  • @rizzometal92 Yes they are pretty good.

  • @rizzometal92 alright. Thanks again Glenn. Hope you'll continue your demo videos. You're a great player too.

  • The last song...

Its your or is a J.Satriani song?

  • @alexvirtual It's called the "Extremist" by Joe Satriani

  • how much does it cost?

  • @heilmetalhead You could probably find one of these on ebay from around 250 or 300US$

  • good tones !

  • @mettttal Thanks Jason

  • could you get the same sound with the pod xt live because thats what im about to buy can you help ???

  • @timelord1ful it wouldn't be exact but you could come close

  • Why do you use a thumb pick?

  • @AgariRG Because that's how I learned to play over 40 years ago so I kept using the thumb pick.

  • @extremevideopro Dang! 40 years of playing. That's pretty awesome. And I'm not gonna lie, the thumb pick makes your playing pretty unique. Do you ever use regular picks when you want to shred or hit harmonics, or is it all done with the thumb pick?

  • @AgariRG No I can do all of that with the thumb pick. Check out my Electric Eye cover on my channel.

  • Hey Glen, I know the PODx3 sounds killer with

    headphones but I'm curious if

you have any links & resources or other patches of

tones that are good for cutting through the mix in a

band environment ie: Live - going direct thru the desk using stage monitors?

  • @phildoughty Yes. If you download my bundle I have several patches that work well going "Direct To Desk" or FOH. You'll have to go through them and try them out.

  • @extremevideopro Thanks (:

  • Never used this word in my life before but...Bravo!

  • @AmericanDeathHead Thank you

  • pod x3 live doesn't have a harmonizer, how can you make that nice harmonizer sound on it ?

  • How well will a pod improve the sound of my amp ? My current amp sounds so digital its just terrible + feedback is so bad I can barely do a solo with out it squealing. Would one of these pods clear that up ?

  • @TigertailzBezerk No I don't think so. What kind of amp do you have??

  • @extremevideopro Damn, Its a Peavey Vypyr 75 watt modelling amp, Its ok but nothing near proffesional.

  • @TigertailzBezerk Well I really wouldn't mix an amp modeling pedal FX board with a modeling amplifier. Too much modeling going there you know. Lots of time too much reverb or delay will make that feedback sound. Try backing off on the effects and getting a good dry lead sound then add in the effects a little at a time and see if that helps.

  • @extremevideopro Thanks, Thats what I was thinking, Ill put the settings on just an amp model and leave all the other stuff, Chorus, flanger, etc... alone and see how the line 6 sounds when I get it... If that dont work then just going to sell the Peavey and upgrade, Thanks alot for the help, Really appreciated !!

  • hey man you really play well- im on a small budget here- i was wondering if it is possible to hook a midi keyboard to the x3? i want to make my own music-

  • @TigertailzBezerk hey man you play really well- can i hook a midi keyboard to the x3- i want to do my own stuff too

  • @webbjello1 No I don't believe you can do that.

  • @webbjello1 Before you could with the PODXt but line6 removed

the midi in & out for the X3 model. I guess it might have had something

to do with a lot of people using the cheaper Behringer midi

foot controller instead of the line6 FBV.

  • Sweet Guitar! what pickups you got in it?

  • @pivetlord13 Thanks, In the neck it's a Dimarzio Dual PAF and the bridge is a Dimarzio SD

  • why arent u using a pick? xD

  • @Zymm I am using a thumb pick

  • Don't get the HD500, it's a piece of rubbish compared to the X3L!

  • Glenn, thanks for all your incredible work!!! I could of never made it through that X3 manual without you!!! You rock!

  • I don't think there's much difference tone wise between the x3 live and hd range. The deciding factor really should be cost. If you can afford a hd500 then go for it, otherwise I'd go on ebay and get a x3 live for a couple hundred quid

  • i like this video! it's really useful.

    do u prefer x3 or hd500?

    please help me to choice....thx

  • Does it have all pedals in one or just a wah and do you just can connect it to a speaker and be a amp?

  • @daword177 This is an effect's board, It has almost every effect you can possibly think of, including Wah. You plug this into an Amp.

  • Really considering getting this... Is it really worth $500, though? It's quite a purchase and reviews look good, but it'd be nice to know what someone who's really worked with it thinks about it.

  • @AmplifyedGuitarist You should look at the new Line6 POD HD500. Same price.

  • @AmplifyedGuitarist

If you get anything.. Get the HD500.. although you did post this a month ago. I hope you made a good decision. I'm done with this line in bull crap. I'm about to mic my amp.

  • @PassionOfTheDevil666 That's what I ended up getting.

I'm pretty happy with it. I can finally cover Radiohead and get the right tones.

  • Glenn you are a Master !!

  • Where did the backing track this Satch song come from?

  • @1Wade9 I made it.

  • @extremevideopro Sounds Great, Glenn. Were any of the tracks MIDI instruments? What do you use?

  • @1Wade9 Thank you, yes I used a MIDI keyboard controller for the drums. The drum sounds come from EZ Drummer. I like the Nashville Kit for most of my music.

  • @extremevideopro Hi glenn! Is there any way you could make this Sound on a POD HD 500? And upload the patch to you're site? :-)

  • this is so complicated. @_@

  • By far my favorite mockingbird ever, Your paint job is stellar!

  • WOW, you can do that? you the man Glenn, lol

  • Well shiver me timbers, it wasnt there a minute ago, lol, cheers fella

  • @MrSatchafunkilus I just called Line6 and told them you didn't have it so they loaded it in there over their nation wide WIFI hook up to your X3. ;-)

  • Hey Glenn, any idea why i dont have the zen master amp on my x3? all the model packs should be installed shouldnt they? cheers for your help

Ive set your VAI & Metallica tones and they sound great mate....

  • @MrSatchafunkilus Hey Paul, yes it should be in there. Take a real close look but you should have the Zen master. I think it's the very last amp model.

  • Thanks bro. God bless!

  • awesome tone, oh and if u havnt already, u should make a zakk wylde tone if u could, that would be awesome!

  • Great. The hard case of the POD X3 Live caught my eyes. -Do you know where can I get one of them hard case for X3 Live? Where did you get yours? I really want to get one.

  • @axlrose1438 That came from Rondo music model 410E

  • @extremevideopro Thanks. -Is it the ''CNB PDC-410E BK Pedal Case'' exactly? that cost $45?

  • @axlrose1438 Yes that's it.

  • Great. The hard case of the POD X3 Live caught my eyes. -Do you know where can I get one of them hard case for X3 Live? Where did you get yours?

  • amazing!! great sound!!

  • great tones I'm using your steve vai one at the moment :-D.. hey have you thought about trying to get a John Petrucci tone? that would RULE! keep up the wonderful work

  • @dougjwhalen Thanks Doug

  • nice playing dude, that tone was great.

  • @djluis49 Thank you

  • Your vids are awsome and your playing xcells..Thanx Bro!!!

  • @addemmbeehoo Thank you

  • hey, which is better line 6 pod x3 or Boss GT10 or TC Electronic Nova System??? give me advice please! ;D

  • @STMPKR Can't say about Line6 or Boss but the Nova system has a 1/2 second lag when switching patches. Unsuitable in my opinion. C'mon TC Electronics, fix that in the next Nova System please.

  • Clap, Clap, Clap applause, bravo!!!

  • @rabas98 Bow!! ;-)

  • Man that was great.

  • how much is this?

  • Hi glenn, could you try to make a sound settings video for john petrucci lead tone?

  • @mikatarkela89 that would be great

  • I cant get it sound in stereo.. weird..

  • Very cool but it sure seems like a lot of work.

  • good god that sounds awesome! shame they cost so much. and you'd be spending half the time mucking around with the settings lol

  • what tone would be best for lead im not sure yet but its this tone or the tone of steve vai i ordered my pod x3 live 3 days ago what tone would be best ?

  • @simondcr either one would be great for lead.

  • @extremevideopro are they both in your x3 bundle ??

  • @simondcr yes they are

  • @extremevideopro how is the song called you are playing in the back of the movie and where did you get the backing track from ?

  • @simondcr It's called "The Extremist" by Joe Satriani. I made the backing track myself. I make all of my own backing tracks on all of my videos.

  • how is the solo called that is in the begining at 0:22 ?

  • Just need to ask one thing. PLEASE help. Okay, so I just started thinking about this, when you're recording what do you do if you want to switch from clean to distortion or vise versa? Do you have to stop recording, pick a new patch, and record again?

  • @DeathMetalAngel123 Well, you should save a separate patch for the lean setting. No need to stop recording bro.

  • @extremevideopro So you'd just hit the button (A B C D) with the clean patch and keep recording? It's likely that if I'm going to buy a POD X3, it'll be the Live, but what if you have the X3 Pro? You don't have no buttons to switch while recording with that.

  • @DeathMetalAngel123 That's right. The X3Pro is a rack mounted version so you would need a MIDI foot controller.

  • @extremevideopro Ahh, thanks man. I know a guy who has one and runs it thru his Marshall JCM 2000 TSL 100 into a 1960A cab and gets nice tones. He plays Santana type stuff though and I'm not really into that. I'm gonna check it out pretty soon though. Okay, ranting over. Thanks again.

  • you, my friend, are a tank at guitar haha....these vids really helped me decide to get a x3 live, it would have helped me get a bc rich too but i already had a warlock haha

  • I have a Line 6 Spider 4 120 Watt 2x10 Amp which of the 2 Pedalboards do u recommend me? Thanks for your help

  • @RockGuitarTeenager You really don't need either. You already have an amp with all the same stuff in it. You should look at a floor board controller for that amp. Line6 makes them I believe.

  • Comment removed

  • Which Pedalboard is better for you the POD X3 live or the Boss Gt - 10?

  • @RockGuitarTeenager I get asked this question so so so many times and I usually don't answer. BUT!! you are the only person that has ever asked "what is better for me"! Because that is very important. What is better for me may not be better for anyone else right? So I will answer your question. The GT-10 sounds better with my Dr. Z MAZ 38 Sr. 2x12 and the POD X3 sounds better for me when direct recording although I use the GT-10 for direct recording as well. So there. . Try them both if you can

  • THAT SONG IS ????

  • @JesusSyndrome The Extremist

  • exellent ,, man you are an expert making effects and playing too,,

  • @TheMike2k8 Thank you

  • do u prefer this or your gt-10

  • what amp are you using ?

  • @FadeToBlack181 I am not using an amp. This was recorded direct using the POD X3-Live and it's simulated amps.

  • @extremevideopro I've been playing guitar for 3 years now, mostly acoustic, I've been borrowing electrics from friends for the heavier stuff but I finally got some cash to spend on an electric guitar. I've setteled on an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus but I'm still unsure on what I buy to go along with it, I've narrowed it down to either a Fender FM100 cabinet or the PODX3 Live, but the thing is I'm unsure of the results if I use the Line6 without an amp, what do you recommend? Cab or X3 Live?

  • @FadeToBlack181 Does the Fender have an amp or is it just a cab with a speaker??

  • @extremevideopro head + speaker, 100W solid-state

  • @FadeToBlack181 Oh Ok, well are you doing much live shows are you mainly want to do recording?

  • @extremevideopro a little bit of both

  • @FadeToBlack181 Well if you go the amp route then you can get your sound and you will always have it weather you are playing live or in the studio. If you go with the X3 you can go direct to PA for live use and then in the studio you can also go direct to recording console. It kinda saves the trouble of having to carry all that stuff around and deal with mic's and stuff tlike that. Personally I think the amp and pedals sound a little better. It's more hassle though.

  • @extremevideopro okay then, I'll go with the PODX3 for now and get the amp later, thank you for your time

  • Nice job man!! I´m wondering what is best for live and studio. The Line 6 X3 Live, the Boss GT-10, the Eleven Rack, ... I want to know. Sounds, speed in changing channels, recording preferences, interface compatible... And what amps I´ll use for this on stage or recording. Thank You

  • hey glenn umm im about to purchase a por x3 live i was wondering if i have a lespaul can i get an acoustic sound out of the pod? and if its a yes could you make a video of how you make the acoustic sound and the one you like thanks=)

  • @ricardoaloreto There are some acoustic simulation sounds. if you go to Line6 Custom Tone page and do a search for acoustic you will find some. It's close but not exact but descent.

  • Hello. I don't comment much on here but I have seen hundreds of videos on here...this is great. I just purchased my x3 live this week (trading in my GT-6) Thanks for the info. I will looking at the rest of your stuff. Thanks.................

  • Thanks a lot for your videos! I'm going to have my X3 live in a few weeks...could you please do a demo video about Paul Gilbert's tone??? Thanks a lot!!

  • Just got my X3 live!

  • This is by far the best video I've seen regarding this. Thank you! I will be getting an X3 live in July, but I'm curious, whats the process of how to download patches? Do I plug it into my computer? If so, how?! Haha, thanks :)

  • @Ajpforman I put a link on my blog in the links section for a video that shows how to do it.

  • Is this a good pedal for playing live?... and can it loop, if so how long?

  • @remnent7 Yes it is a great pedal for live use but no looper. You can do a sound on sound thing using the delay. There is a video on here somewhere showing how to do that.

  • Thank you for such a detailed process for the settings. I used your video as a tutorial for my x3. I now have a much better handle on the POD and have since made some great user patches. Really, thanks alot for sharing.

  • @joeybagofdonuts1 You're welcome

  • @b0nggggggg I've been using these things for years so I know how to use them.

  • will i get a good sound if i turn of the amp+cab simulation, and just use the effects from my pod x3live, through a tube amp? or will it sound messed up?

  • @666guitarfreak That's actually the best way to run these digital modelers if you are using a real tube amp. Use your amps distortion and use the FX pedal for effects and stomp only.

  • i dont understand how you are mixing two tones at once. is this common for professional guitarists?

  • would love to see you tackle a george lynch tone for the pod. I've yet to come across one that's even remotely close.

  • I was going to buy the jsx mini collosal, but hard to get and apparently discontinued. What do you recommend in a small amp that is loud enough to jam with some friends, but not concert quality. The jsx mini is only 5 watts... not sure how loud that would be. But looking for a quality little amp for recording and jamming. Thank you.

  • @logicbdj I like the Marshall MG 50. Great sounding little amp and plenty loud.

  • Sorry if this was answered, but did you ever figure out a good Gilmour tone (e.g., comfortably numb) on the Pod X3 Live? Or perhaps guidelines as to what amps, etc. should be used for tweaking? Much appreciated.

  • @logicbdj No I have never attempted the Gilmour tone but you can find lots of them on Line6 Custom Tone. Go check it out. If I were to try it I would say for sure you need a strat, then use the Blackface Twin with very little gain and lots of delay & reverb. That might get you in the ballpark.

  • When doing the demo for the Line 6 X3 Live, are you pumping through a particular amp? I ask since I love the Vai and Satriani tones (can't seem to get them through my Korg AX3000G) and then through dry speakers (Klipsch Heresy II). Do you have a preference between this unit and the Boss GT-10? I appreciate your comments.

  • @logicbdj This was all recorded direct, no amp used.

  • Hi, I bought a POD X3 live and I'm trying to find out what programs I can download and use for free with it, can you help me ? I need a program to record some tracks and a way to edit and create my patches in my PC (I use Windows 7).

Sorry for any bad English ^^', I'm from Brazil.

Thank you for the time and help (and for the awesome videos XD)

  • i thought that song you played was really great, and killer mockingbird by the way! ^^

is that your own song is that a satriani song???

  • @bombershard Thank you, that song is Joe Satriani

  • @extremevideopro it was played really well. could you give me the song

title? really great lessons on the line 6 x3. i learned some neat things like dual tone which i wasn't aware of before.

  • @bombershard Yeah that is called "The Extremist" from Joe Satriani.

  • Can you post your "Rush" settings. I have been trying but can get it right>

  • @jbfiorito I believe I have that patch on my blog in my X3 bundle. Just go over there and download it and you will have it.

  • What amp is good to use with the Line 6 Pod X3 if you play live?

  • @antonioluis10 The best would probably the Atomic.

  • @extremevideopro what are atomic amps?? i thought the best for the pod were like the most neutral keyboard speaker you could get

  • @livio1396 Atomic amps are designed specifically for digital modelers like Line6, Boss and AxeFX

  • @extremevideopro :O that's cool... but they sound expensive haha... besides i doubt they sell those here in my country... so what do you think about just getting a keyboard amp?

  • @livio1396 They ship worldwide and they are not that expensive. Just check them out at .fractalaudio(DOT)com
