people who are commenting on whether or not the shooting was justified are missing the point of the scene. that's not even relevant.
the idea is that people are afraid of what they don't know and that having that attitude leads to horrible things when in reality we're all not that different (them both having a Saint Christopher statue is a pretty clear metaphor)
@ugonhurchobak he told him to leave the car and put his hands were he can see them. Those are called warnings, if a person was kind enough to give you a ride and then starts issueing commands like a cop, normal people would either probably get out or keep their hands on the dash.
defend himself from what? if the guy wasnt black he probably wouldnt have ASSUMED it was a dangerous weapon he was pulling out...and even before that he assumed the black guy was laughung at him or white ppl. a imisunderstanding yes, but still...
I disagree. My dad, a white Chicagoan, scared the shit out of a cop when he made the mistake of getting out of the car when a cop pulled him over. The cop yelled at him.
this scene made me so upset whenn we saw this in class today

um. @Louanna007 "yelled. at him." is completely different from shooting and killing him.

That was the black guy's fault. If only he was being clear about what he was laughing about..and being clear what he was trying to show...
He wouldnt be shot at...
That white guy only tried to defend himself.
BTW,,im not a white guy,,
