The way me and all my friends that have purity rings were explained was not you AND your girlfriend/boyfrined give eachother one that is not the way it works. it is for you to wear to remind you of your commitment no it doesn't lessen temptation any but why do so many people see a problem with it? Most of us have never dated or had a boy/girlfriend but we wear one. It is not a "engage to engage" however they said it. it is a personal reminder to you
As cool as I think some of the OT garb was in its symbolism and identity as a believer... they really don't protect. The same goes for having a set of rules for that matter (Colossians 2:23). Worship Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit put to death the flesh. Trust God and he will provide for your needs at the right time (Matthew 6:33).

But, unless you are filled with the Spitrit of the living God it would be impossible to understand the meaning and reason behind this most important issue. Food for thought. I did think that purity rings were to be given by parents though and include a time of deep discussion with parents about purity and God and strategies to help you stay pure.

I think the purity ring is a good thing. When and if I do date, I would like to think that my girlfriend and I would wear them.
