I hate people saying "im old" since you like Ultravow and they have been around for a long time.I like to think that i was young at the right and certainly the best time!
@polterter he makes me do things i wouldn't do sober. like sing. plies me with newcastle brown ale he does. little bugger knows they make me sing (usually rude songs in irish gaelic). but i still love him.
Bring back the good old days when music was actually extremely good.... I miss those days. Maybe it's me just getting old though ;) Midge released some classic songs like I'f I was' and 'Call of the Wild.' And Ultravox were amazing too. 'Reap the wild wind' - an absolutely fantastic song!
heard this in 1986 - i just had a bath on a friday night , my brother had wrecked my night rider watch ..........haven't heard it since then .23 years
My very fav out of Midges stuff. Saw him recently in in the Return to Eden tour with Ultravox and they were amazing, Visions in Blue from the night on my profile.
Good song! What's weird is, the drums are progammed in the exact style of Ultravox's legendary drummer Warren Cann. When Midge rejoined Ultravox the next year (86; A Certain Smile was 85), the first thing he did was kick Warren out (and turn Ultravox into a poor man's Big Country).
Also - bass player on A Certain Smile was Nigel Ross-Scott of the group Re-Flex, best known for The Politics Of Dancing.
What a great song - this is a masterpiece to me; feelings, emotions... This song should never end, the outo is outstanding. But sadly the song is faded out.
This takes me back to my teenage years and was the best thing Midge Ure ever did - always brings a tear to my eye thinking of what could have been - good post
Midge Ure covered Bowie's Man Who Sold The World for the soundtrack of a film called Party Party in the early Eighties. I heard it once on Radio 1 and was totally knocked out. If anyone has a copy I would love to hear that again.
Gooorgeous. Still love this album and all the U-vox stuff. I imagine Midge singing this to me and the world doesn't seem such a bad place after all. Thanks for posting.
What a performer! One of the best voices ever. Seen him in Belfast at Queen's Uni Students Union - he gave off to a rookie spotlight operator who kept the light in his eyes. But did it in a nice way which taught the guy how to do it properly. The crowd loved it. FANTASTIC!! WHAT A VOICE!!!
Had Midge Ure pointed sideburns in the 80's! would love to still have them but they'd be grey now! Love this track more than 'If I was', should've been more of a hit single. Midge is so underrated. Ever thought of who you would invite as a dinner guest given 5 choices?... Midge would be one of them.
Why are the Scottish such good singers? Just a thought.

Another fantastic song from Ultravox. The song gives me hope for the future and I believe that we grow wiser as we get older.

This song is so simple yet effective. Midge did not need to add bells and whistles to this song.

`Wonderful song from Midge. He never got full credit for Live Aid as Saint Bob made more noise. I must go dig out that old Ultravox cassette....

Superb! If only he'd released this after Live Aid instead of that mediocre routine that got to number one!
