i have 2 black and white tegus and one is huuugh and one is only medium side we have had both of them since they were tiny and up until the last hybernation the big was was so nice but after this past winter hes gotten mean as in you cant stick your hand ANYWHERE near the cage or it will attack you. but the little on just kinda chills all day and doesnt care what he likes the most is hiding his whole body under the wood chips so you can only see the tip of his noe or the tip of his tail. :)

@carolina7171 if you don't want your tegu to be aggressive then you seriously need to handle it and quit being afraid of it. Any animal is aggressive without proper handling. And a bite from any animal can be painful, but yes, theirs might hurt a bit more as they grow. It's something that everyone who owns a large reptile must get use to. It you're worried, wear thick gloved until the tegu gets use to you and do not listen to vids like the ones from Expert Village. They are of no help at all.

I startled her tryin to grab her but she ran and when i liftted the couch her tail must of gotten caught:( she detached about 1ft and now it's stuby:( she seems fine but some of her bedding like cypress mulch and cocunut bedding seem to be on the wound,,,,is there danger and will it grow back?

I have a columbian tegu which i am working on taming and i believe he is about 3 to 4 months old and he puffs up and makes a puffing sound wen he is agitated but they are not that mean he doesn't try to bite me as much as i thought he would when i got him. I have had him for about a month now so he is still getting used to me.

You can feed it frozen/thawed rats from the petstore but only occasionally. Their main food should be insects like roaches, large crickets, super worms, and meats like ground turkey, chicken hearts, gizzards, frozen chicks, etc and veggies & Greens like Collards, Squash, mustard greens, dandelion and some none citrus fruit.
