4:36 :O Impressive! I've seen this video countless time and never noticed Shannon drumming with one hand while playing bass with his other! These three band members truly are talented.
This song is about every Government that furthered their own agenda's at the expense of minority groups and ethnicities within their own nation. He does use Katrina, Bin Laden, the war on terror and the "children overboard" incidents as points to bolster the message within his lyrics.
the new orleans jazz style band makes me believe that this is 100 percent about katrina haha...plus some other lines give it away if you listen closley
Wake up to yourselves.....polotics will always be polotics..if u wanna moan about shit ..write it in a letter to yourself.....just listen to these guys tunes...imho....sublime...the rest take it as you se it...stop looking for things in music like the peeps did with dylan and just learn to enjoy the sound....this guy and his band rocks...rock on
would be great, if anybody would listen to my music too! I am a singer/songwriter from germany searching for attention. give me a chance :-) have a look on my account and listen to "be alone" or "world in between" for example.
I love this track for the fullness of the music. Rock and Jazz. Very diverse in its delivery and origin. Very New Orleans at the end of the track. Wow how many government situations have you seen anguish and the government do nothing. Wow very powerful.
Im sure you will get offended by this even though it isnt near my purpose, JBT's purpose for his music is very similar to Bob Marley's in that he wants to bring people together not tear them down, so whether you like or dislike bush or obama, why do you want to tear them down? they are human and mess up just like everyone else, but tearing them down helps no one...as americans we have our right to say and believe what we want, but we shouldnt abuse that freedom with hate.
But hey, it's not just americans who have the right to say and believe what you want !! Now listen to this track again at 1.50 onwards and tell me that the lyrics aren't implying the bush government to be racist. Also, notice that at the end of the track they bring in a new orleans style jazz band.. so to me that means what the tracks about is the floods in new orleans and "tearing down" the government for doing nothing to help them
yeah is a blues funk fusion, not jazz :) you dont like jazz try listening to Stanley Jordan, one of the vids of songs you know, he might change your mind on jazz :)
if ur into reggae at all u should check out the album "Dub Side of the Moon" by Easy Star All-Stars, its basically just a reggae cover of Dark Side of the Moon
love these guys with a passion, but why are they singing about the USA? theyre from australia and should sing about australian things. like vegamite... :)
they're talking about how the Australian gov basically has done nothing to help the indigenous people ..the true owners of the land kinda like Canada and the native population here
@Drennan3 Actually the song topic is about 'gov did nothin'' for hurricane Katrina victims, nothing to do with Australia. Listen to the lyrics. Listen to the drums and feel of the song, its based around the New Orleans 2nd line rhythm, listen to the brass solo.
@Drennan3 Naw dude, it's about the gov not helping the people of Katrina. Hence "living on my roof in the land of forgotten" and "wading in waist deep water." Also the Louisiana style jazz jam at the end.
@DontRunBand I believe it's about more than just Katrina. Katrina is just one part of the song. What about "G be Indiana Jones'n diggin up the east stealin dinosaur bones'n/He don't dream of stoppin/Chasin his tail trying to find Bin Laden"
@Drennan3 Actually, this is a song about the U.S. government, in relation to helping the victims of cyclone Katrina (2005) in the Southern United States, who were mostly African-Americans. An absolutely amazing song, too. Love the jams! :D
