  • @PlushYou you cannot download from internet as far as I know, however you can download from your computer via USB cable. It has a rudimentary music player

  • can u go on youtube plz anwser

  • Can we download music into this kindle?

  • im getting just WIFI, save me 50 quid ;p thanks for the vid

  • is it possiblr to track you phone via google earth with you cellphone number registered to gmail?

  • When you access your gmail account is it the mobile or desktop version? Can you use the lab feature - CANNED RESPONSES? I can find a tablet that allows me to use Canned responses in gmail.

  • do you know if its possible to type things on facebook? i couldn't get it to work

  • can you use the browser for FREE anywhere in the world where there is 3G coverage?

  • @patriciae9 I haven't tried, so I don't know for sure. I'm sure you can find the answer with a google search. Amazon says this: "The experimental Web browser is currently only available for some customers outside of the United States."

  • @odouroushouseant Hellow I have a kindle 3 3G and I am from Argentina. Now I am answering with the kindle 3G signal from Kuala Lumpur and a few weeks ago I tested in many places of indonesia wich I had 3G and sometimes edge signal for just checking my gmail in some little villages like Blankjerem, sumatra all free. I also tested buying newspapers from my country here and other books with no problems and no additional price. So tahnaks kindle.

  • @patriciae9 i am in taiwan and it's still working... even location without 3G, it connects via GPRS :)

  • @patriciae9 No I am in Korea right now where I bought my kindle on a military base...internet doesnt work nor does downloading books from kindle I can only do a wireless transfer of books after i buy them from a computer...(wireless whispernet transfer is free for books))

  • @patriciae9 I ordered Kindle from US and now using it in India. As Amazon policy says, browsing on 3g is free all over the world. So if you are US resident and traveling outside US, you can still enjoy browsing using 3G free of cost :). However, If you are traveling abroad and want wireless delivery of periodicals (kindle newspapers and magazines that you've subscribed), you'll need to pay 4$ per week. Workaround for that is downloading periodicals using wi-fi/USB or change your base country.

  • @patriciae9 I was told the browser on the UK Kindle with 3G would not support any web pages other than wiki and amazon via it's 3G service

  • You can use the Mobile version of Gmail much more successfully.

  • Will i be charged for sending email using gmail?

  • @iamsureshkm Nope~!

  • @Anguardia Thanks...

  • I wanna get this, but before you know it they'll come up with a fourth generation and this one will become obsolete :(

The 3G free internet access is pretty cool, though!

  • LOL he must be driving Krystal mad LOL...constant sending of random comments!

  • thats cool, can you use yahoo messenger on it?

  • Hi I am trying this nod but it won't let me enter my user name and or password to login on the mobile site. And it won't accept my password on the regular site even though I know it's correct.

  • I'm thinking of getting this. Can it also be used to edit google docs and the google calendar?

  • i think the 3g n wifi changes depending on what is a stronger signal ...maybe (Lets make up a name for something that is probably not true) Smart Change! with smart change the 3g and wifi will change to keep you a strong signal so you will never experience a slow connection!!!! *now waits for this to spread*

  • @crimsure Pretty much! the funny thing is that the kindle had better luck than my laptop in getting wifi signals in that room

  • @asCii88 The free 3G works to surf the web! It's pretty sweet.

  • Thanks! It the most helpful video about kindle web browsing.

Do you think it will work the same on DX? I've just ordered dx but since then learned that dx actually have a different software version

  • @xxxBradTxxx Not as far as I can tell. It asks me to download Fladh, which is unsvailable on Kindle

  • does it play youtube?

  • @xxxBradTxxx nop : (

  • @xxxBradTxxx Even if it could, it wouldn't play well because of how the screen works.

  • @veganstarwar the google maps was pretty useful, but i actually prefer using a text only website that google provides called places. After i rooted rhe kindle, everything seems to work much more consistently. Sry i dont have the time to make/upload more vids.

  • haha i feel like you read my mind on this review..can you PLEASE try google Voice for me??? It's very much like google talk, but if you could try maybe texting yourself with it...that would be really really cool, I have the wi-fi version on the way, but after seeing this I will probably send it back for the 3 g..for the Maps alone it's worth it..but it helps to know..thanks!

  • I guess the mobile version of Gmail is more easy to use :-P

  • Hi there! thank for your review video.

Can we use google docs on kindle?

  • @verrorlonely I don't think you can, since documents open in a new window or tab, and the kindle browser does not support multiple windows

  • @odouroushouseant thanks !

  • @odouroushouseant I may be wrong but if you go on Google Docs on your computer then go to settings>document settings the third option down is whether documents open in a new window or the same window. Surly if you enable this then go to Google Docs on your Kindle you will be able to view and possible edit your docs?

  • @AssassinationX3 You're right! I changed settings so that documents open in the same window, and I was able to open several word-type documents. It didn't work too well. The main limitation was using the cursor to get to the dropdown menus once inside the document. Also, the "page" was a tiny bit larger than the screen and I couldn't figure out how to shift the screen over to the right.

The kindle displays most websites reasonably well (I love article mode), but not Google Docs.

  • Thanks for this review. I was hoping Gmail would be accessible from the device. I'd probably never compose an email on that device, as I can type at nearly 70 words per minute on a normal keyboard (Dvorak, not Qwerty) but it would be useful to see if I need to go access a computer to deal with anything important.

I read somewhere that bookmarks are supported, so I guess it's possible to remove some of the tedium that way.
