OT as a profession is a total joke. COTAMAN7 is right, OTA = CNA. You'll notice that there are very few OT/OTAs that have been in the profession for several years...aka you don't see too many 60 yr old OTs. Plus, I truly do believe that Medicare will wake up and realize how ridiculous the profession is. The therapy companies are just in it for the money, bc it's quick/easy money.
How hard is the OTA program once you finish the Anatomy classes and labs? I've had the Medical Terminology (got a B). I am anxious about getting through the program. Anybody out there?
the schooling is a bunch of bullshit..colleges make u take prerequisite classes that have nothing to do with occupational therapy.its really a simple job.its all common sense..simple exerices..its so exaggerated
@5tonyvvvv the schooling is not bullshit. If there wasn't any pre reqs then how could we determine who is most capable of completing the training? Finishing the pre reqs proves that you are dedicated and knowledgeable in various areas. It also prepares you for the demands of hours and hours of class
@sexxxymexi Wrong its pure BS!!...ive already been in the medical field for 4 years now..colleges do this to take your money wake up,do i really need to take 9th grade english and math and science over again??..Its Bullshit and all designed to take your money,,they give u classes u wont use,in a practical sense and have nothing to do with Occupational therapy, its really a common sense job..Teachers are morons, and u sound like one..or just a inexperienced person
@sexxxymexi if u have common sense and know how to give your patients simple exercises for there injuries, and stretch them your fine..and making simple patient reports and records..thats it..it's very much exaggerated..
Don't buy into what she is saying folks. All OT's are is glorified CNA's. I know, I did it for ten years then wised up and found a real career. If you like wiping buts then by all means, go for it. Remember, this field is very difficult to get into... can you say 4.0GPA minimum requrement, not to mention has a high turn-over rate.

@5tonyvvvv Community College is dirt cheap and obviously not made to "take your money" Go ahead and live with that negative frame of mind.
Like I said.... if there wasn't any pre reqs than we wouldn't have any standard set to weed out the people like you.
