There are many animal organizations that will send you flyers about the cruelties animals suffer in circuses for free, or maybe just a mailing fee. JUST DO IT!

Aw man. That ALMOST happened at the NYS Fair once - there were some tigers in a pen (no, they were not going to be used for performance, just for people to look at) and one was pacing like crazy. Some random guy walked by, and the tiger lunged at him. Fortunately for the man, the cage bars stopped it - but he didn't even realize it had happened until some bystanders told him! Crazy!

Also, the tiger seemed pretty young, so it may have been an instinctual "play" thing. If this guy worked with this cat a lot and raised it, it probably had enough to respect for him to stop based on the man's body posture. In training lingo we call this a "delta"; it's basically when your mother uses your FULL name and you know you're in trouble. But hopefully, your mother never had to hit you for you to understand this concept, but just recognizing the tone of her voice.
I can't really tell what subspecies this is, but some subspecies would have gone for the kill if abuse was in the question and wouldn't have backed off. I'm always a little skeptical of international circus acts, but I can draw these conclusions: If the guy was comfortable enough to turn his back on the tiger in the first place, he probably doesn't abuse it. The problem with negative reinforcement is you have to maintain it consistently.
I imagine he turned away because of the abuse his trainers inflict to make him cooperate. Did you see the stick that that guy was carrying?

I only attend circuses that are in the UK. The use of wild animals are banned from UK circuses. They still have dogs and horses, but anyone can train a dog to fetch something and take it somewhere else, or have a horse pull a cart round in circles. And you can see the animals afterwards, not all circuses allow that.

Most predators are much more likely to avoid a fight than to start one they have a chance of losing, its about survival. Therefore the trainer is merely asserting his dominance to the tiger in order to make him afraid and back down. The tiger could easily take the trainer down but he does not know this because of how the trainer stepped up to him without fear.

I've been to a few circuses, and I have to admit I had a good time, but those animals do not look happy! I'd support getting them out of those animal shows, they need to be in a natural environment.
Not all circuses are horrible, there are some that take very good care of their animals, and even give them daily blogs, photo & even video updates regularly for their adoring fans. The animals are rescued from the start from canned hunts & stupid people that thought they would make a great pet. Most of them have (cruelly) been de-clawed or had their teeth filed short for years and would never survive in the wild. This guy however CLEARLY terrifies that poor tiger. This is frightening.

I only attend circuses that are in the UK. The use of wild animals are banned from UK circuses. They still have dogs and horses, but anyone can train a dog to fetch something and take it somewhere else, or have a horse pull a cart round in circles. And you can see the animals afterwards, not all circuses allow that.

Most predators are much more likely to avoid a fight than to start one they have a chance of losing, its about survival. Therefore the trainer is merely asserting his dominance to the tiger in order to make him afraid and back down. The tiger could easily take the trainer down but he does not know this because of how the trainer stepped up to him without fear.

the sad fact is that poor tiger was probably raised in captivity.. so to even try to set him free would get him killed..
but there are sanctuarys out there that take in wild cats and other animals and let them live as close to the real life as they can with out being further abused!

Not all circuses are horrible, there are some that take very good care of their animals, and even give them daily blogs, photo & even video updates regularly for their adoring fans. The animals are rescued from the start from canned hunts & stupid people that thought they would make a great pet. Most of them have (cruelly) been de-clawed or had their teeth filed short for years and would never survive in the wild. This guy however CLEARLY terrifies that poor tiger. This is frightening.

I'm not saying there aren't bad ones but I'm not about to say the world is filled with them either. Farmers don't beat bulls. Bulls learn that if they touch the fence they get a shock.
Once they grow up, you can use a piece of string as a fence and it won't try to escape. Maybe it's the same kind of methods they use here?
