  • Same thing happened to me but they sent me two money so be careful

  • there is currently a scammer emailing me about these "assignments" and baiting him back just to waste his time >:)

  • still looking for a job? -> careerstarts.info <-

  • still looking for a job? -> careerstarts.info <-

  • I dont know if it is just Canada but here Money Orders don't mean the money is real neither. Both Money Orders and Cheques can be faked (yes Cheque is the Canadian spelling for Check). When I didn't cash and send the money for the Cheque they next sent me the same letter but with a Money Order. I should have baited them but I am not skilled at that.

  • Thanks for informing people about job scams and fake check scams and money order scams. I made a video last year (wait .. I think it was actually this year in Jan..) when I put my resume on a trusted job search site in my city (I only went on the ones that were highly trusted). However even scammers are on there and I didn't get an email but a letter that said 1st assignment for a secret shopper: test the mail system.... Thanks for informing people!! More people need to make others aware!!

  • there is one fact you did not establish - even if the check clears it is still subject to recall for up to 6 years (in the UK anyway) - probably the same in USA.

  • @LPCLASSICAL WOW, didn't know that. Thanks for sharing, great info.

    Take care

  • cont. .. i prefer sticking to the reputable sites like CareerBuilder, and just use CL (rarely) to give me ideas. i mainly tho apply through the employer's site if at all possible. i got harassed after posting to Monster for only a week so now i don't want to post to any non co. sites, tho i've been on WP for a while w/ no issues. . i can't imagine being able to sleep at night making my earnings in such a dirty way. gross.. . yucky

  • i'm the skeptical type. i'm sketched out applying for any job through CL. i may look there to see who's posted, but then look up the employer website (usually it's a co. i'm already familiar w/) and apply there. if i don't know the co i google them or if need be BBB. if the employer name isn't listed on CL i ignore the posting. i'd further been sketched by the very first email talking about "first assignment" before any kind of interview whatsoever, before reading the details.

  • Just removed my home address from my resume. Yah I never really trusted Craigslist. I stick to monster, careerbuilder, or indeed.com.

  • Thanks for the info. That almost happened to my younger brother but my mom stepped in in the nick of time. He was about to be short $980.

  • wanted me to to give them my bank account number which was to be included in a form that they had sent to me online. I was so disgusted that I actually threatened them. I don't know if its individuals at reputable companieswho are providing them with your confidential information- but either way I had to tell them a thing or two which they didn't like at all.

  • Sometimes you don't have to apply for a job using craigslist. They come looking for you - i don't even know how they got my telephone number or e-mail address. One called me at home and i received a telephone call from another telling me about positions they had, the strangest thing is, is that i had applied to reputable companies, so when I asked what company they represented, it wasn't at any company I had applied to - but one lady wanted me to come to an orientation at night and another

  • good looking out.

  • Thank you!

  • You should take the cheque and the online ad and report this to the police. I am sure they are aware of it, but the more evidence they get the better equipped they are to do something about it.

  • Thanks girl for the info!!!

  • Thanx so much for this very well needed heads up girl!

  • I've had an encounter with this person about a year ago! I was actually looking for office work on Craigslist. This is pretty much the same word for word. WOW! I can't believe this is still going on! I did receive 2 money orders via Fed-Ex but they were fake. At the time I had a good friend who was working at I believe it was Western Union located in Wal-Mart in Los Angeles and she let me know that they were in fact fake! I started to go to the police but I never did.

  • smart vid!

  • sheeeet...i ain't even gonna lie.....i'd see that check and get excited about it, and I HAVE a job...thanks for the warning AE, these scams are getting more and more intricate and look more real as time goes on. Please everyone, if it looks too good to be true it probably is!!!

  • WOW! This video needs to be shared with everyone I know! I can't believe how scheming people have become now days! I do feel sorry for the creator of CraigsList! I'm sure he never intended for people to use the site for fraudulent reasons Too sad, Great Video! Thank you!

  • Sooo off topic...I love your earrings!

  • WOW!!!!!

  • Hi guys! I'm not sure if someone has already said this in a previous comment, but I work in the money service business, and we also receive money ordres that are fraudulent. AND YES-even Postal Money Orders. Just be cautious if anyone sends you any type of "payment" through the mail and you don't know them personally. I'm happy you addressed this.

  • @means089 Yes its a bigger problem than I thought. I think for a lot of people "you don't think it would happen to you". Im glad I could shed some light on it, for those that didn't know.

    ~keep it real

  • I don't apply for jobs on craiglist just for that reason alone. Also, I have notice when you apply online, you will get a bunch of spam in your email or home address

  • These scam artist are all over the place...its seems like another nigerian 416 or 41K scam....I know one stuiped man who got defrauded of $15,000.00 cdn believing these fools, when he end up beingthe biggest fool! lol Thanks for sharing

  • OMG thank you for making this video. This same thing happened to me last year and I wasn't smart enough to realize it was a fake check. Got scammed out of over $1K...yeah not my proudest moment. I definitely learned my lesson!

  • @gflowers02 Omg wow, I bet you learned your lesson, Sorry that happen to you

  • i hope you turned it in for mail fraud.

  • Its cool that you showed us that check. I never responded to those jobs, but I thank you for showing us the results. You should be applying for graphic arts since you do so well with your videos.

  • Your video editing/sound effects are bomb.com. And I can't believe these scams today...horrible. Thanks for sharing hun.

    MeechyMonroe

    XOXO

  • I gave up on craigslist...it's so depressing to just get replies from the scam artists. Yeah, and I don't have my address on my resume either. Everything is through email anyway, just city and state...I leave it at that.

  • sounds similar to the scam on teen mom when farrah tried to sell her car.

  • i get emails from "princes in africa" all the time it's a shame that ppl do this to one another

  • These scams are really silly, but people do fall for them, there are also apartment scams, sad indeed.

  • your hair is fierce

  • OMG!!!! Girl no I-9 no nothing!!

How will they 1099-misc or W-2 you?

    THANKS for the heads up

  • Where Did Yhu Get Yhur Nose Ring frm

  • Wow!! I cant believe the nerve!!! I have been looking for work for 2yrs now and I check craigslist faithfully! Im happy to say I have never experienced this, but I feel you when you say a girl could get happy at the sight of a check like that. Good thing your a smart cookie with some street knowledge......Some poor soul couldve been dooped and even more pressed for cash with that scam!

    Thanks for the alert!!

  • on craigslist or any job board outside of the company website, its a good idea to omit your address. Simply write: Address is withheld for security purposes.. Or something to that effect

  • Wow they try that with me but they text u on ur cell saying u win money from Nokia like what that shit is going round a lot ppl be careful don't give no body ur hard money I am from tha Caribbean (Grenada) this thing is world wide so plz be care. Anyway I own a nokia cell at the time but I have never enter no contest so how can I win money they tried lol

  • WOW! i was scammed also! last year! someone did the same thing to me also... it was TERRIBLE! and i am a COLLEGE STUDENT! it has been pure hell trying to pay back the bank... but i did... and now things are fine.. but now i know how to handle myself with these checks! I dont TRUST anything dealing with MONEY! i check and recheck! i let things sit (to make sure checks clear) and everything! as a college student i CANNOT AFFORD to be scammed :(

  • It is so terrible that people are trying to scam like this. I only put my name and email address on the heading of my resume. After Monster.com was hacked, I removed my resume from most job sites.

  • I work at home with a legitimate company out of NY. I do customer service/tech support for big companies through this one company that hold contracts with these big companies like ftd.com, att, etc.. If you are interested I can email you this information. You don't pay them anything. You just need your computer and a headset with a microphone. The calls come in through your computer. If your interested send me a personal message and I'll give you the info. God Bless Hun!

  • @7lyrique I am interested. Send me the info if you dont mind :)

  • Lmao oh and 1 thumbs down? Hmmmm can we say SCAMMER ALERT lmao. Who else will thumbs down? Be bold about that and let us know who you are lol.

  • Craigslist is bad anyways. People on there murder people. So I stay AWAY from there.

  • I've worked in banking for over five years and I can tell you how many times I've seen that EXACT same check from people! I stop posting my resume on all online jobsites because none of them are really realiable. Now I just apply directly to the business' website if I see they posted an ad on these jobsites.

  • Thanks for this but..I NEED THESE EARRINGS IN MY LIFE ASAP!LOL

  • I am surprised that this scam has not played out by now. I have heard about this scam on the news and other shows many times throughout the past years. Furthermore, I receive emails from such scam artists regularly due to my resume on career builder.

  • My friend had the same thing happen to her. She called the police, but they couldn't do anything.

  • Please be sure to alert the authorities. Even if they don't do anything at least you are then known to not be involved.

  • love ur earrings

  • WOW!! They really went above and beyond on this one!! It's sad that people would prey on others like this during this tough economy. They deserve a special place in hell! Glad you didn't fall for this!! Thank you so much for sharing!!

  • PLEASE use CareerBuilder or Monster! They are legitimate job boards that are free for job seekers. Employers pay to advertise their open positions. I've gotten most of my jobs through those sites. If you are looking for non-profit work, check out Idealist.org. I found my current position through Idealist after being away from the work force for a year.

  • Hey Lady...I received 3 of those 2 years ago, each in the amount of $3,000. I thank God for WISDOM and COMMON SENSE! I was asked to go to the local check cashing place and cash the check and keep 10% and send the remainder to an enclosed address. Say what! Do I look like Boo Boo the Fool! Girl I immediately notified the local authorities. The sad thing is that so many folks are clueless to this scam and fall for it.

  • Wow that is so crazy!!! I work at a bank and I totally know how bad that would have been if you had fallen for it. Now, I will say that at my bank our policy is to check to make sure the customer's account has matching funds with the check they want to cash. So, if you don't have 2,000 in your account, you aren't cashing the check! BUT, you could still deposit it and it could still cause a bunch of trouble for you... and also for the teller who did the deposit. Yep. It's bad all around!

  • these scammers will go to incredible lengths to rob you of your life

  • 95% of the jobs on Craigslist are scams! I would only "apply" to companies that can be verified.

  • Unbelieveable!!! Too bad we can't find these assholes!!!Trying to be credible using orphans....

  • Wow glad u notice that it was a scam. I saw a special on Dateline about online scam. This lady got scam out of $200,000+. she was told that she inherited 1 million dollars for dead relative. That trail to took them to africa and around the world, then right back here in the US. There r some thieves out there y'all.

  • That happend to me 3 years ago on a site caled gum tree its a uk version of craigs list. they sent me the cheque when i looked at it i relised it was a scam the man called my phone asking me if i received the cheque, he had an african accent. so i told him that i put the cheque in the bank and it bounced i but i dident really do that, he said "how comes it bounced".I said i dont know j,ust give me your address so that i can send you back the cheque he said he will email it t2me he dident

  • wow, now that's crazy lol

  • Omg!!!

  • ROFL you got me over here DYING laughing!!! O my...this is an old scam but girl you too funny!! Especially liked the police sirens :)

  • @alleyway2 She had me rollin too! LOL

  • Girl.. you are so on point with that one.. I also live in Cali..and, unforunately.. is one of the thousands that are unemployed... I have applied to jobs on Craigslist but, get nervous about my info floating around in cyberspace... This internet has opened up the floodgates to scam artist and such.... You were smart enough to recognize GAME because some folks would have cashed it and your right... SOL is what they would have been.

Good luck with the job searching.. Purposed.

  • LOL!!!!! My sorority sister just got scammed by this same person! She emailed him back and questioned him on the whole situation (in a not so nice "urban" kind of way LOL) he responded with "How dare you speak to me that way. Don't ever question my authority! Get back to work!" I can't believe this is happening to so many people!

  • Thanks for the heads up!! When I'm on CL looking for jobs, I make sure to research the company name. Some of those ads don't even provide company names at all!! If no name appears..I keep it movin' (got that one from you!). Also, I have a PO Box and put that on my resume instead of my street address! Thanks for keepin' it real!!

  • This same scam is going around using Publisher's Clearing House as a front and they do send u a Cashier's Check n sometimes the scam is so.... good the bank doesn't catch it right away-4 the person I know this happened 2-last year-the bank gave them the money n 2 weeks later, when they couldn't get their money, they realized it was a fake with a fake bank n that person's account was hit n charged-BE CAREFUL!!!!!

  • wow thats crazy..you know what, I am going to remove my address from my resume. I think email add and phone number are sufficient..we live in a crazy world

  • This happen to my daughter, I told her this was a scam. I told her if she cash that check and then send them less money back, you are left holding the bill

  • I hope you flagged that "employer". or at least sent a message to craigslist informing them of the scam. thats what i would do if i was in that situation. I would probably even contact the local police department and try and see if this scammer can get arrested.

  • Once you cash the check, they get YOUR bank account information! I'm glad you knew better AND are informing others who don't!

  • Thanks for sharing. This is so important.

  • I had a similar experience when I signed up with my local dept. of labor. Someone sent me a long email about being a personal assistant and picking up a package with expensive art and posting it across the country because they will be out of the country for an extended period of time. Lucky for me. I posted my resume with a block on my address. Thanks for sharing you may have saved someone from disaster.

  • Woooo Craig's List= Stay away.

  • yeah that happened to me with a fake secret shopper ad. I recieved the check for 4,000$ did research on it and then ripped it up. so many people have gotten arrested for actually putting these fake checks in their account and withdrawing the money. No prove of the person who sent it. they just ask for your address tell you to deposit in your account "secret shop" with 100 of it and send the rest to them! SCAMS!

  • This goes beyond the scamming aspect, but I work in HR & used to help people w/ resume prep. I can’t stress enough to ONLY use an email address and/or cell phone number as a form of contact. Rapist will post bogus job announcements to get resumes with addresses of unemployed women that are more than likely home alone during the day! I know this because my cousin is a cop, and 3 men were caught preying on women this way. I’m so glad you removed your address. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE LADIES!

  • AFRICAN EXPORT this happened to my friend and he went to JAIL over it...He was devestated and it ruined his reputation b/c he was in the process of becoming a correction officer and they terminated his application process b/c of it. He did go to court and some things were dropped but he was so ashamed for being taken and so hurt to lose his opportunity as a CO b/c once everything was cleared a hiring freeze took place and he was out of a career :(. Did I mention we are also in CA :(.

  • YOU DO KNOW THE CASHIER IS FAKE AND AND IF YOU HAVE NOT TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL POPO'S AND THE WILL TRACE IT AND GET THEM , GLAD YOU WERE SMART

  • Thanks for sharing, what a shame. I had a friend that lost her car over some crazy scam like this.

  • Well if it sounds to good to be true it probably is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for sharing!!! I will be sure to pass this information along!!! Thanks again!! :)

  • great of you to share this..I detect fraud for a living and consult with people on this everyday.. now it would be a good idea to contact the credit bureas and place consumer alerts..these people have your name adress and phone# which is all u need to commit id theft..very big of u to share this..it will def help someone else

  • Sis I just sent you the video that I did last year in May... This same ish happend to me except they sent me an actual check.... Pardon my tipsyness in the video but tried to get my point across.. lol It was the EXACT SAME PROCESS that they tried to do to you!

  • Something similar happened to me... I was contacted via Yahoo messenger by TWO guys from Nigeria who was so HOLY and would NEVER SCAM anyone. They told me they would send me a check for $10,000 as long as I send them back $6,000 . When I asked them for what they said to get a business started. I just laughed because I knew it was sooo BOGUS

  • I worked as a Bail Bond Agent in the ATL. and many people are charged with financial fraud when they attempt to cash these type checks. The bond amount is 11,200. You'll have to have some real good family and friends to come get your butt out of jail. This a very common scam. Americans are the most scammed people in the world. (I've done research on scams).More men than women fall victim to scams. Women are far more discerning than men. Americans are scammed out of hundreds of millions per year

  • I feel you!! I was scammed my self, it wasn't a check scam but I was out 80 bucks, you never kno what you will do until it happens to you, yeah I seen scams like it on Tv but whn you have been laid off over a year, have a mouth to feed, tired of askin, and counting the days till TAX TIME! you never kno how you will react in that moment!

Thanks for doing this vid girl!!

  • they've actually sent me another email after i didnt cash the "check" and said if i dont do it that they will have to take necessary actions. smh. bullshit. all to scare the person

  • ive gotten that too! smh. there are alot of scams on craigslist. but there ARE some good jobs, you just have to sort it out. I've actually went to an interview recently for a REAL job from Craigslist. if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. lol

  • Thank God for common sense! I have a home gurl to this day is still reaping the wrath of cashing one of those checks. She was kicked out of her job associated credit union and is on fraud alert everywhere she goes including her credit report. Oh and she is still paying her old credit union back the over $5K they assessed on her as owing. Damn Shame is what it is.

  • I almost fell for the personal assistant scam on craigslist. They said they were out of the country and I would be doing an at home job. It is the same exact scam that you got. The orfanage and everything. They said to take the check deposit it and take my weekly pay out of it and wire the money western union. Im like hold on, i never met this person why would they send any money. I did some research and typed personal assistant scam and the email i got popped up word for word.

  • @NaturalNola86 They sent check and i did not even accept it. I returned to sender. Who would hire you without even an interview or anything. They kept emailing me and i told them if they don't stop i would turn them in to my local authorities. I never heard from them again.

  • I would copy all docs email transcripts and send it to the FEDS, Local Authorities, and the senders local authorities. Blessings to you and your Family. Be Safe! I hate that they have your home address.

  • Lol...that would have been a nice bag and shoes :) you are so funny!

  • You are so right, my god daughters brother fell victim and was arrested and put in jail for about a month. DON'T DO IT!

  • THANK YOUR FOR SHARING!

  • OMG girl that is Crazy call the po pos!

  • those earrings are killer

  • Girl, you are funny, but you should have known better!!!!

  • This has happened to me also and realized after receiving the email what it really was. Just as you, the next day Fedex was bringing a package to the door lol. Yea it would have been nice to get paid before actually doing any work but I knew and ripped the paper up. I will share your hilarious vid and loving the earrings. Thanks

  • shit outta luck!!!

  • so glad u not doing this from jail! chile, they must not know you cause you surely do not have boo boo the damn fool stamped on your forehead. smh. you look great despite all that messy tomfoolery.

  • Also for Home Buyers always use a lawyer when you decide sell or purchase a home cause now a days Scammers will put a fake letter head and fake House out on the market just to get Your money. All these scammers dont know what a real job is and now the job market is so bad everyone is desperate....so people becarful out there!

  • Thank u for sharing, that's crazy.

  • I worked at a bank for 6yrs and saw this all the time.(international lottery, survey, stay at home jobs etc...) I would look at the check and knew it was fake and tell the individual and they would be so made that they fell for it. Its really ashame the lengths people will go scam you.

  • OK,,,maybe I am missing something...I get the part about the check BUT how is it someone would just think a check appeared from the money gods? I dont understand the call about the orphanage ect? Like did you apply to an orphanage or what? I'm baffled on the whole why would you cash a check from someone you don't know and or has never worked for?

  • @xoticangell I emailed my resume. Received a reply "job offer". Shortly after the "assignment" came" and because my address was on my resume, they sent the fake check.

    ~keep it real

  • Also the people would have full access to your account and will clean you out for all you're worth!

  • Not sure if it's been mentioned, but NEVER place any personal info on job postings from Craigslist or any other listings before you have verified they are legit. Remove your address, phone number, and email addresses from reumes and let them know that they are available upon request. It sucks, but this is the only way to protect yourself. That could've been a predator knocking on your dooras well as your personal info could be used in scams and fraud.

  • you keep it real chick

  • Love it!!! lmaooooooooooo! Loved the blk and wht scenes with the voice over--hahaaha!!! Thanks for the information. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • This happened to a client of mine

  • ... I WASN'T ON YOUTUBE BACK THEN BUT GOOD LOOKING OUT FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW!! Smh...what has this world come too

  • OMG THIS SANE EXACT THING HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO!!! I NEVER DEPOSITED THE CHRCK AND WEBT EVEN FURTHER AND PUT IN A POLICE REPORT. I SENT MY LOCAL POLICE TGE EMAIL AND FED EX PACKAGE AND THE CHECK. I WAS TOO AFRAID OF THE FACT THAT THEY EVEN HAD MY ADDRESS INFO.

  • Did you report them to craigslist or the authorities?

  • OMG THIS SANE EXACT THING HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO!!! I NEVER DEPOSITED THE CHRCK AND WEBT EVEN FURTHER AND PUT IN A POLICE REPORT. I SENT MY LOCAL POLICE TGE EMAIL AND FED EX PACKAGE AND THE CHECK. I WAS TOO AFRAID OF THE FACT THAT THEY EVEN HAD MY ADDRESS INFO. I WASN'T ON YOUTUBE BACK THEN BUT GOOD LOOKING OUT FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW!! Smh...what has this world come too

  • (part 2)... She thought I was dumb, but didnt know I had worked in banking for years, so I knew all the tricks and how people try to pray and scam people online looking for employement... They cant be caught because they use false names on their email accounts and false names when they ship through fed ex...Its sad... I tell people to watch out for stuff like this all the time... Craigslist has turned into a scam itself... be careful ppl...

  • The same thing happened to me except they were a little bit sneakier (if thats a word) lady was talking about a personal assistant job, emailed me and told me i got the job. She told me she was going to send me a money order made out to me so I could go cash it at my bank so I could run some errands for her to organize a party for her daughter coming in town from out of the country and pay some bills... Sounded ligit the whole time till she starting getting her emails and information mixed up...

  • thank you girl! I appreciate you looking out for us.

  • scammers are everywhere dare and they come is many different forms

  • Thanks!

  • This is rediculous but true and it is a shame that some people are willing to stoop to these kind of tactics to scam someone that's looking for work. It's like stealing from the poor/less fortunate at that time anyway cause we are looking for work is the only reason i say poor/less fortunate. Notice i said WE i've been looking for work for the past 2yrs(SICKING). I just keep PRAYING and asking the LORD to let me remember that there may be someone worse off then me. BE BLESSED I'm PRAYING 4 all.

  • lol police went by

  • Theres alot of scams out there.. another thing if ur asked a fee 2 apply for a job most likely its a scam!! Becareful People, times r hard and theres ppl out there whose going to make it harder!!

  • Thanks for sharing this!

  • Good looking out AE. Many people unfortunately get sucked into scams every single day. Thanks for sharing this video!

  • I am so happy you were smart enough not to fall for that wow the person went through all of the trouble of paying to send a fraudulent check via fed ex. wow thank you for the warning.

  • Wow excuse these typos but I'm sure u get my point just got a new phone and its always correcting what I type... And makes it worse... :-/

  • OMG I loved how undelivered thus very important message.... Thus us a very serious issue and u delivered Irvin a manner that was very entertaining and understandable I mean I thought I was un grade school and a guest speaker came to inform us about speaking and dealing with strangers... LOL loved it!!! :-D

  • wow...

  • thats a shame...love the earrings!!!

  • @abht0 Thank you so much , have a good day today

    ~keep it real

  • Man, I was scammed before as well. I was trying to find a part-time job because I was a full-time student. Someone sent me a message stating that they needed a U.S. consultant to take payment from their US customers. I received the money orders in the mail (5 in the amount of $850 each) and i was told to cash them, take my 10% payment out and send them the rest. Thank God, I only deposited them, although the bank charged me $5 per money order. That $25 could've went in my gas tank!, lol

  • yeah I had one of those too but instead of a job it was about some so called lottery that I won in the mail but I never played it so I knew it was a scam

  • People are finding so many ways to scam people, and those who are desperate and willing to pretend they won't get caught, will get caught. Someone is trying to scam me through my AVON business. Trying to get me to send them AVON with a promise to bring me the money. Asking me for my address like I'm "joe Donut" with a hole in my head. lol

  • @naturalhairful lol, @ Joe Donut I am going to use it. I just removed my address from my resume, thanks to a youtube'rs suggestion. Really sucks, but that is how people work these days. I really hope the video reaches many. Be well my friend.

    ~keep it real

  • @AFRICANEXPORT When responding to job posts on craigslist I've defintiely started omitting my home address. Also, if the post doesn't have the name of the company or an address I do't submit my resume at all!! People are just very Dishonesty nowadays!!

  • I know someone who did this and cashed several of the money orders and luckily never got caught by the bank. They knew it was a scam so they stopped after making a little money doing it lol

  • @terrycloth97 lol, I know there are FOLKS who know its a scam and don't care, lol I didn't want to bust those folks out who do check scams on the regular. (sigh) love my people. lol

    ~keep it real

  • Sharing this on my FB page. What they did was a FEDERAL crime. Wow.

  • Honey that scam is OLD. I have gotten so many of those damn checks in the mail. I should be RICH by now!

  • @Luckey2007 Darn real, well with unemployment being so bad, I'm sure people who have had consistent work history are unfamiliar. Be wll

  • @AFRICANEXPORT But don't worry! I tweet this video and facebook it to all my friends! We have to let the people know. Did you hear about the Mystery Shopper SCAM?

  • thats why i dont put my address on my resume if i am using craigslist or any online source unless im on a secure company website. email and cell only. and i never apply for personal assistant posts, or anything that dosent include a name, number, company or somthing i can verify.

  • Cont. ~ I was so mad I told them to cancel my account or the police would be called. 2nd time Wells Fargo tried to get me. They also tried to get me for overdrawing my account .5 cents. They were saying because I had been overdrawn for a month I owed them $100. #1 what can I buy w/ a darn debit card for .5 cents? #2 how is my account overdrawn for a month when I had direct deposit meaning my checks go in twice a month. So Wells Fargo in itself is a scam bank so be careful w/ them too.

  • I got scammed when I opened an email saying Wells Fargo Bank statement. I opened it and it said "loading error". A few days later my bank calls me talking about how someone wired money to my account for $5000 dollars. I printed that email out and went straight to the bank. Then I was told "Though the email seems authentic as one of the WF electronic emails, we are not liable for the fraud committed on your account."

  • I dont understand....? why would anyone believe they were getting a check without having done any work yet?

  • @LeandraSaurusRex Desperation

  • @LeandraSaurusRex , I was scammed once before myself. Someone in my e-mail stated that they were selling paintings and that they needed a U..S. consultant. They sent me 5 money orders in the amount of 850 each. They told me to cash the checks, take my 10% out (as my fee/payment

) and send the rest to them through Western Union.

  • Lol that happened to my friend but it wasn't for a job it was something else, she actually tired to cash the check but it didn't clear.... She was like, " I'm just gonna to cash the check and keep the money" she used to always fall for emails like that till I talked soon since into her

  • @msniekababy lol, I am just surprised at how quickly the con artist moved.

  • omg thank u for doing this video i got one of the emails today and an suppose to receive a check this week omfg THANK YOU

  • OMGoodness how horrid would this be if you were not smart enough to see through the bs! I unfortunately am used to scammers here in NY...they are everywhere in every arena of life just about,

Again, glad you saw behind the "curtain" before it was too late AND thanks for sharing :0)

  • that happened to me once!! that person sent me two checks. one for 3500 and another for 1900. they were the WORST fraudulent checks i've ever seen. smh

  • smh... ain't that something. well u know what they say... if its too good to be true... it probably is!

thanks for sharing... glad u didn't get caught up. have a great week chica!

  • Yes I've gotten those 2x back in the day, I told them I was a cop's wife, and they would be investigated...SMDH!!! PLEASE DO NOT DO IT PEOPLE!!! Great PSA girl!! You look awesome btw...I didn't know you were Cali girl, jpbs over here are a luxury..lol!! Love the editing too....

  • Girl, Craigslist is the worse for job and apartment searches. Have you looked at Elance for some freelance administrative work? Some of the jobs are pretty good. The other thing that proves it's a scam is that they send it fedEx and not by postal mail because of course that would be mail fraud.

    Thanks for looking out!

  • Did you turn it into the police??

  • wooow, ive been craigslist scammed, but never to that extent. Thank God for wisdom!

  • The same thing happened to me in 2008 but a bit different. Got a check just like you, even silly enough to try and cash. The fraud department at my bank flagged it quick and in a hurry lol. Got charged a fee, but nothing else happened. Everything seemed legit smh.

  • FYI there are fraudulent money orders as well. There have been cases where people have created fake money orders for the same purpose. If you plan on applying for a job on craigslist or emailing your resume to a person at a company DO NOT put your full street address on there. You can include city and state, as well as an email address, and a phone number but no address on it unless there is a physical person you are handing this information to. This opens you up to identity fraud. Just a tip.

  • @utsukushisa1 Yes I changed it. Thank you. I will leave some tips in the description box as well.

  • Thanks 4 the warning.
