People keep saying that this car is a joke and that its quality comes nowhere near the quality of a BMW or a Mercedes. But it does, it actually matches it and exceeds it in some places, but not all of course. No car is perfect. I've driven this car many times and my brother owns one and It's truly an amazing car and it's unbelievable that Hyundai could make such a great car. The closed minded people who think it's a joke need to actually go take one for a test drive and see for themselves.

I own BMW and I took a Hyundai out for fun and although I won't say it was a bad car I could tell instantly that it is no where near the REAL luxury brands. Build quality is sup-par compared the Benz/BMW and even the cheap plastic buttons and dials still show signs of budget brand. I think Hyundai should focus on their actual competitors instead of making a joke of themselves going after the high class brands. you've obviously never owned a Genesis. I own one, and love it. For reference purposes, I've also owned and driven in some very nice Audi, Mercedez S500, BMW, and Lexus. I get compliments & questions all day on how this car drives (which it does VERY well) and the entertainment system is top notch. I'm glad Genesis is a Hyundai tho, and am very glad to drive one.

I have a fully loaded 2005 Sonata lx that i bought brand new. it now has over 153,000 miles. The only thing that i have done to the car is changed the plugs and wires and changed the brakes twice. I never get my oil changed on time, right now i have bout 25,000 miles on the oil, and i drive pretty hard. ilive in west virginia, so i drive alot of mountain roads. this has been the best car i've ever owned and i would recomend one to anybody. My next new car will be a Hyundai.

Toyota CEO mentioned last year during an interview that they are most concerned with what Hyundai is doing/has done in recent past than any other auto manufacturer in the world. I think you should "think about it" as Mr. Watanabe does. By the way, country of origin has little meaning these days. Japan & Korea auto makers are building cars (have been for long time) in US. We are in global economy. My Porsche being built in Finland instead of Germany and you see these type of trend all over...
I've owned 4 different Hyundais over the years even when they first came out in the 80's and never had any kind of problems with any of them. To all the people who think it's japanese they are a Korean made car and now some models are being buit in the US. The Genesis will be one heck of car to own. The other car dealerships better take notice of Hyundais.
Hyundai has really improved over the years. All their cars look great. It's like how Saturn made a big turnaround. I dure do wish Nissan offered a ten year warrenty cause my 2008 car is already breaking. :-)
drove 2 small cars from hyundai, Getz and accent. I loved them. But when I bought a big MPV from Hyundai, Trajet, the car was a disaster. Rattles and squeaks everywhere. The chassis was not solid and rigid. Traded in for a Nissan. I hope they have improved the quality on their big cars now.

OKay i don't disagree about genesis taking designs from benz and bmw but all the cars coming out these days look all the fucking same man. The new altimas looks like older verison of the infiniti G. i really think people should give the car a chance, alot of people cant afford an S class, so this is an alternative. though i do think maybe hyundai should have made a luxury brand. and i defiantly agree with clam608. and i think that hyundai has improved so much over timme.

Hyundai sucks hard. People that favor this car over a Mercedes or a BMW are plain stupid.
I'm sure it somehow looks like a (cheap copy of) Mercedes, and it's cheaper than a BMW ... but still it's build without any know-how, quality, passion or style.

you've obviously never owned a Genesis. I own one, and love it. For reference purposes, I've also owned and driven in some very nice Audi, Mercedez S500, BMW, and Lexus. I get compliments & questions all day on how this car drives (which it does VERY well) and the entertainment system is top notch. I'm glad Genesis is a Hyundai tho, and am very glad to drive one.

I have a fully loaded 2005 Sonata lx that i bought brand new. it now has over 153,000 miles. The only thing that i have done to the car is changed the plugs and wires and changed the brakes twice. I never get my oil changed on time, right now i have bout 25,000 miles on the oil, and i drive pretty hard. ilive in west virginia, so i drive alot of mountain roads. this has been the best car i've ever owned and i would recomend one to anybody. My next new car will be a Hyundai.

umm... what is going on, like every hyundai video i have been looking at is eaten up with flame wars about japan and china vs. korea. i am a swedish guy living in the us and i drive an 07 sonata. i think it rocks. i am surprised by how awesome it is every day. and it was a great deal. and the dealers are great. i don't know about you guys, but i would totally buy another one (genesis coupe or elantra touring!). peace my brothers.

The Genesis, if all hold correct and it is like close to $20K less than a comparably LS460, then it'll be a big hit for sure. If it comes within a shot (say within $10K), then you can kiss the expected sales goodbye.

Toyota CEO mentioned last year during an interview that they are most concerned with what Hyundai is doing/has done in recent past than any other auto manufacturer in the world. I think you should "think about it" as Mr. Watanabe does. By the way, country of origin has little meaning these days. Japan & Korea auto makers are building cars (have been for long time) in US. We are in global economy. My Porsche being built in Finland instead of Germany and you see these type of trend all over...

I've owned 4 different Hyundais over the years even when they first came out in the 80's and never had any kind of problems with any of them. To all the people who think it's japanese they are a Korean made car and now some models are being buit in the US. The Genesis will be one heck of car to own. The other car dealerships better take notice of Hyundais.

Hyundai has really improved over the years. All their cars look great. It's like how Saturn made a big turnaround. I dure do wish Nissan offered a ten year warrenty cause my 2008 car is already breaking. :-)

drove 2 small cars from hyundai, Getz and accent. I loved them. But when I bought a big MPV from Hyundai, Trajet, the car was a disaster. Rattles and squeaks everywhere. The chassis was not solid and rigid. Traded in for a Nissan. I hope they have improved the quality on their big cars now.

Currently a Porsche owner. BMW 5 series before that (2 in a row). I was in Texas last year and ended up renting a Hyundai Sonata V6. I was pretty impressed. To me, Hyundai used to be a brand I used to associate Rodney King with. I read an interview on Toyota's CEO last year. He said that he is most afraid Hyundai than any other automobile manufacturers in the world. Will I ever own a Hyundai? Let me tell you this much, I am "Thinking about it". Kudos to Hyundai.

I love my Hyundai Tiburon! Use to be a Civic and Nissan owner back in the early 90's, but both car companies stop making the kind of cars that I loved which was the Honda Prelude and Nissan 240sx. (2 door sports cars)!
