Interesting video, but I think its more likely that the planet that formed where the asteroid belt now is was struck by some other large object transitting the solar system, the same as what happened to one of Saturn's moons that was destroyed and formed its rings.

I would like to point out that travel through time is impossible because time doesn't exist. What would have been done is that you would check the universal memory. Second Mars was a moon of this planet. It was massive and this was proven by Hoagland.
