The most important thing to notice is how his gaze remains on the point of impact for a moment after he hits the ball—something I haven't seen any other player on the Tour do. I'll bet my balls he gets a decisive edge over his opponent just from doing that.
i think that although federer says he won't retire until he's in his mid-thirties, with the baby coming, i think he might just retire in a couple of years. still think he'll break sampras' record tho
i don't think he will... i think he has hunger for setting the record as high as possible... and he's playing loose now, he doesnt have so much pressure as he did before winning roland garros... i hope what i'm saying is not just wishful thinking haha because hes the best !!
He's got the reccord now. 15, he's the greatest of them.
He now just need to play tennis for the fun of being good. I think this can lead him to win an other streak of Grand Slam titles. He has shown he wasn't any less in shape than before after this marathon game; he played the same game as in the first set after 4H15...
Roddick was done by the two last points. As I said often, Federer's gracefulness on the court reflects his fluidity and prevent energy waste. He can play like this for long.
Look how amazing is his forehand, the ball is comming and he is preparing it, pointint the left shoulder to the ball, left arm on right side for balance, then he steps confidently with his left foot and with a outstanding body rotation unleashes the greast weapon of tennis on the past years, just AMAZING we can see that from so much angles. Amazing.
how would u feel if all ur life u kept improving, then u keep improving, but one day some random guy just starts popping up and stealing all your glory and breaking all ur records and ur dignity.Fed's crying isnt just because hes losing its because everything is being taken from him all so fast and he just isnt used to it.plus imagine if ur one GS from matching a tennis legend but some guy named Rafael Nadal is always there preventing u from catching up to that dream.just think about it dude.
Shut up. Boohoo... Poor wee guy that only won 13 Grand Slams. Imagine not having 14 of them.
"imagine if ur one GS from matching a tennis legend but some guy named Rafael Nadal is always there preventing u from catching up to that dream" - WTF???? Its called sport. What, you going to cry because Sampras basically retired Edberg?
It's because the atp is colluding with the surface managers to make the courts slower and bounce higher to play into Nadal's game... or maybe Fed's just slowed down.
thank you for posting this, im trying to get this forehand down. i can do it most of the way, i just end up hitting it fairly short ending up in the end of the service box-begging of no man's lol. its insane how he does this.
Yea, i think that's because of no extension in your shots probably. I am not sure; But i am trying to emulate the shot too; I am missing the follow through and extension ... A follow through comes when you are in good position and good position comes from good footwork. I gotta improve on that.

unreliable? It may be flat but it's done him well. He has great power that makes up for it.

Well, Federer did slowed down this year... He was sick and recovering all year long if you didn't know. I think he had mononucleosis.

What year is this from? It looks like a slightly different and off balance all around shot than he uses now.
bnumber8 4 years ago 3
idk the year, but its different because his stance now is more open
appppppppple 3 years ago 2
Indian Wells 2005. And the stance he uses depends on his position... and his mood.

why is the video laggy? now that defeats the purpose of seeing his contact point.

it's a "mix" between eastern and semiwestern... not an eastern grip as a lot of people says... his grip goes close to the semiwestern one..
