  • Pretty small .45 cal. ;)

  • Haha, "45 cal"....

  • If this sword can stop a 9mm Then cops in japan carry Assault rifles

  • If you watch the other video, it shows the bullet in the air. It travels steadily, not tumbly. It's a 9mm; .45 rounds tumble.

  • thats a 9mm not a .45

  • is this blade forged and folded?

  • ok now try block a flamethrower

  • es por eso que vergil es mejor que dante ;D

that is the reason becouse vergil is better than dante

  • Epic Matrix Soundtrack Music :-D

  • it would have been bad ass if they had a ninja do that by hand.

  • Big deal... They were using a 45 caliber bullet made of lead. Let's see how well that katana blade holds up against an armor-piercing bullet made with a copper jacket and a tungsten carbide core.

  • @22250rmntn The same katana splits 7 .50 caliber rounds from a military machine gun.

  • @JohnpRiddick 50 caliber browning machine gun its called and yes its an awesome vid

  • in other video, katana resisted water jet cutter.

but water jet cutted a kitchen knife.

  • @asdasd110011 Cause a Katana is Folded Steel guy. its like Diamond.

  • Holy.... wow....

  • Good thing you usually aim for the person, not their weapon.

  • @IITallikaII

I am for their hands or torso if forced to

  • if that happens......the momentum of the bullet would make the katana hit your face =P

  • Well had a person the skill to hit the trajectory right, the spread of those fragments seem to be able to fit a body in, so technically a person could survive.

Only down side is though, the Colt .45 can hold 8 bullets, so better be prepared for another seven....lol.

    Still, great video though.

  • @123backinyerface lol, well said hah

  • the sad part is there is another video on youtube that is the exact same as this one, but the genius called it "9mm vs katana" instead of ".45 cal(which it is .45) vs katana"

  • @BlackEcho24 dumb kids see a handgun and thing its a "9/nine"

  • @fusionstar916 dumb kids and dumb adults do.

  • of course the slug is goingo split its madeuot of lead i was hoping for the ktana to try and slice the gun beatthat

  • Cool.

  • That's a 9mm gun.

  • @Brakinator no its the Colt M1911 .45

  • Now use an denser armor-piercing round and see what happens.

  • Everyone who think that this proves that a katana can deflect a bullet is retarded. It merely split the bullet, if someone was holding the katana, he would have been killed by the fragments.

Show me a katana that can redirect the bullet and I'll be impressed

  • well if it hit the side on an angle it may well deflect it

  • katana is the most wonderful and scaring weapons in a world

  • @FedeSatellite Coherency fail

  • its 9mm

  • The comments supporting the katana's ability are a testament to human idiocy and ignorance.

  • @halfassedfart Why? isn't i obvious that beeing Japanese makes your sword better, your armor more resistant and lighter and your arguments loose the need to back them up with facts?

  • lol this is the same video as the 9mm ! FFS wtf<+ looooooooool

  • I would of liked to see a Desert Eagle .50 or a 500 s&w magnum go against the Katana i think it would of broke then but instead they just go to the .50 caliber machine gun to just destroy it later on in the show

  • If the bullet was made of harder steel than the sword it would have broke it in half. They should have used a bullet made of M2 tool steel.

  • Bullets are made of lead. Any sharp steel object could cut them but that wouldn't stop the fragments from killing the user off the sword.

  • 0:18 epic background music

  • ahahahaha lol

  • this is crap. sure the guy with the gun wins versus just the sword

in the hands of a master swordsman though the gunman will not stand a chance, his slow bullets will be deflected easily.

this shows what happens to the bullet when its hit in the front, everyone knows master swordsmen deflect the bullet with the side of the blade.

  • >slow bullets

    u best b trollin

  • this is a lolcat comment.

  • you my friend, are hilarious

  • im afraid if that was the case the samurai would still exsist, they were killed off by the gun, sure the sword takes a real warrior and skill, but a gun, will kill no matter how good a swordsman you are.

  • thats because the samurai couldn't see the bullets comeing im sure if that has good reflexes an there eyes could make things appear slowly im sure they still would be here but they were to slow

  • @XxAviated Yes, because anyone has the reflexes and speed to move there sword in front a bullet... And the shock of the bullet hitting the sword definitely wouldn't knock it out of his hand...

  • 2/10 troll

  • You are a fucking retard

  • People have been splitting bullets on axe heads and hitting two targets at once for centuries in trick shooting. Expand your mind before making crazy comments. Steel > lead.

Actually, hardened martensitic steel >>>>>hot, gooey lead. You forget that lead-core hollowpoint ammunition deforms completely like a mushroom when hitting even soft targets, like human flesh.

A wedge cross section splitting lead is a testament to physics.

  • Search "katana vs 9mm" for the full video. It shows the sword not even DENTED by that bullet!! Surely that kind of achievment, from smiths forging purely by hand, no modern machinery etc. SURELY IT MUST BE WORTH MARVELING AT!!!! ( And also probably goes a long way in explaining the price differance between a 9mm and a properly forged japanese katana/nihonto.)! Youll find its thousands of dollars/pounds...

  • A 9mm is a piece of shit.

A katana is a piece of shit. But there can only be one piece of shit. So the piece of shit katana wins because the 9mm is a piece of shit.

  • shithead.............

    lol

  • I take a 9mm ova a shitty japanese sword anyday, no hesitation at all

  • A lot of you guys are missing the point. Its not: who would win a fight between a guy with a katana, or a one with a gun! It is more about a 'technology' HUNDREDS of years old. (Some would say art!) Of ancient swordsmiths striving to create something unmatched in beauty or purpose IN ITS TIME!! Guns were not even dreamt of and gunpowder barely invented! For an art/technology, that ancient, to face a speeding bullet and remain virtually unharmed is a testamont to the mastery of those swordmiths!

  • Celts and vikings invented the steel folding technique 2000 years before the japs, it was not only matched, it was beaten, BEFORE ITS TIME

  • Thats a 9 mil

  • unfortunately for the douchebag who made this, this is a 9mm handgun. 45 cal's are only in revolvers and/or submachineguns or higher!

    get ya facts right!

  • So the M1911 never really existed? :O

  • it did, but i know for a fact that gun is a 9mm colt. my dad was in the military for 15 years (i think) and used this weapon mostly every day. so, once again, 45 cal bullets are very rare and that gun (M1911) is practically still a prototype!

  • But... the M1911 got its name because the military adopted the model in 1911.

    EVERYTHING I KNOW IS A LIE! D:

  • the 1911 is 45 dude, seriously, read up on it, mabye you'll learn something

  • @Shrantic sure it did. a katana may be able to cut through a 45 caliber bullet, but the japanese definitely weren't fast enough to deflect a bullet coming from a US Marine's or US Soldier's M1911 back in WWII!

  • @BlackEcho24 Well, duh.

  • @Shrantic well, don't ask questions if you don't want the obvious answer...

  • @BlackEcho24 of course dumbshit , like any human can deflect a damm bullet

  • @seksyen4babyface that was an unecessary comment...i was just giving another person an answer to his question...maybe u should stop trolling, it looks bad...

  • @seksyen4babyface i can deflect bullets with my mind

  • nope, ever heard of the 1911, H&K USP 45, Springfield xd.....all are .45 cal handguns, none of those are revolvers.

    get Your facts right.

  • ? are you an idot?

    thats a 1911. 45acp

    look it up

  • LOL ME NOW ABUT GONS N STOOF

  • the point here is that when would a samurai stop to angle his sword perfectly aligned with the gun

  • who cares about the impact of gunfire on swords - its not like youre gonna deflect bullets with them anyway

  • Theoretically assuming you could propel a tomato to a speed of, lets say mach 10, it would take down a brick wall, just with the impact force.

Thats how HEAT weapons work as well.. they generate a MOLTEN jet of metal (copper typically) How do 100g of copper match up to armor steel? Not good if it has no speed, especially if its in liquid state. yet at a speed of 3-7km/h that liquid tiny jet of copper penetrates up to feet or armor steel. Feel the kinetics flowing? lol

  • the bullet actually did damage the blade. and there would be a difference if the sword would be impacting the bullet not the other way around. thats very important.

you know the military APFSDS rounds are made of DU, softer than steel, yet 3 times as dense. and guess what, it penetrates steel due to density and speed not with hardness.

  • but would both pieces deflect at an angle where they wouldn't still hit you?

  • the bullet is a round ball of lead. the kitana is a sharpened, tempered steel edge.

    The outcome was obvious.

if you throw a tomato at a knife edge, the knife will never break, no matter how hard you throw the tomato.

  • lead inst directly a tomato you know.

from kinetics point of view the bullet has more then enough force the break the sword. you should know the reason why bullets are made of lead not steel. its because if you have a great velocity then hardness doesnt really matter, what matters is density. more density results in more impact force/depth. Concrete is harder than lead, yet a lead bullet breaks it, a bone is harder than lead too, yet a bullet smashes even the toughest bones with ease.

  • this vid would be so much cooler with a high-speed camera

  • there is another where i8 shows the bullet being spilt search 9mm vs katana same vid

  • They should make a 45 cal sword and shoot it at the gun.

  • haha that made me laugh

  • @ChronoStrifeFF7H

That's what they do in Soviet Russia,:D

  • @ChronoStrifeFF7H i lold at your comment

  • @ChronoStrifeFF7H yeah! ..... wait that doesnt make much sense but sounds incredibly cool. i dont think anyone would or could ever try to deflect a bullet with a katana, o well

  • I love the combination of PDW and Katana, very useful in CQB.

  • Yea man every army in the world uses it for just that reason.....

  • This test is unrealistic, bullets don't hit katanas in real situations. and projectiles are mainly made out of heavy but prety soft metal. However bullets aren't meant to be reused, So its okay if a katana can slice one bullet half. The gun still has more ammo left to be fired. And as seen in the other video the katana will break after multiple bullet hits.

Besides we have better weapons nowdays. Only a complete retard would go into a gunfight with a freaking sword.

  • Hey, I see people in movies all the time that can cut bullets in half so it must be real....

  • that's not the point, what is amazing, is how do some people came to create that before guns even existed, you can kill a man with a shitty machete, so that's pure art to make a sword that sharp, balanced, let's say perfect to kill a man on a one on one fight... 300 years ago they couldn't do those sort of tests, so that's pretty crazy they went that far in perfection while at the time no weapon could compete, they were competeing against an ideal, not against existing weapons

  • Its testing the tensile strength of the sword, and the quality of the edge. Also, They are made from Steel and iron.

  • Yeah, true, true, but it's just testing the edge and the strength of a blade.

Even if it wouldn't last that long, it is still pretty neat how things from such a long time ago can slice a bullet from today in half.

  • thats not the point of the test. the point of the test was to see wich was stronger, a speeding bullet or the edge of a katana. how they would do in a fight is another story.

  • i said that right before i left my comment

  • thats a 9mm but anyway even do its true wat r the chances that any samuri or sordsman will be able to have acurat placing of the katana in the path of a bullet

  • Judge Steveo convicts you of ofur counts of being a fucking moron.

  • thats a 9mm! stop wasing our time!

  • Not bad. But until I see a guy deflect a bunch of bullets like George Sears in MGS2 I think I will keep my guns.

  • thats a 9mm

  • a flash light cant beat stealth and the speed of strike and you cant know where its comming from you cant beat a assassin weapons are useless

  • you realize your an idiot right? Samuraiwarrior1988 I don't mean to question your divine knowledge, because as a samurai who are based around fighting with honor, unlike ninjas, you would obviously know all about that. If you give me NVGs + M4 i'm sure all the training you got back when Dan was teaching you "authentic samurai ninjutsu" behind Mc donalds, won't be able to stop me. By the by i know there isn't a style called samurai ninjutsu. sarcasm; bit too complicated for your broken english?

  • yeah swords are fucking awesome

  • ¬¬!9mm...

  • hehe i can belike a ninja come from behind you can move faster but you dont have my stealth and awearses hehe

  • you can be like gay ninja and stab from the rear...

  • not as gay as a sniper :p

  • have fun being a super cool infantry soldier, and then you can have fun dying quickly by a sniper or even a gay ninja stab from the rear.....fucker.

  • not as gay as you :p

  • HAHA, GOOD ONE!!!!!

  • ;D .

  • Stop watching anime, how can you win against something that moves at 10 times the speed of sound. And you can't always have your sword with you, infact in reality the police might just blow your head of for walking down the street with it.

  • Actually, a flashlight could 'beat stealth'. Not to mention a Mossberg .500 with a flashlight attached to it.

  • Holy. Crap. MMACyborg. is. a. retard. 1) while it is POSSIBLE that that is a 1911 style handgun chambered in 9mm parabellum, it is much more likely a 1911 chambered in the original .45 ACP- as RW pointed out, Beretta does NOT make 1911 clones. 2)9mm parabellum is 9x19mm, NOT 9x21mm. Anyone who KNOWS anything about bullets, like those of us who make our OWN, pay attention to these details.

  • come at me with a katana and we will see if i can stop you with a 45

  • well bullets require a hefty metal to obtain the desired velocity and accuracy. Most stronger metals tend to be light, like titanium is really light, but insanely strong so it wouldn't be ideal for a bullet. Steel is median weight, but is quite strong. Maybe if you had like depleted uranium tipped ap rounds, you might break the sword after one or two consecutive shots, but really the shape of the bullet really leaves it at a disadvantage because heavy metals tend to be somewhat soft.

  • If you fired a tungsten bullet at the sword, the sword would probably shatter. Actually both the bullet and the sword would shatter.

  • on the other vid it said it was a 9mm.but a 9 doesnt have that mutch kick.or can break a brick like that

  • if u wnt a sword get the one in ffvii call the Masamune a good sword tat is in ffvii but a true kick ass tat can block a bullet

  • u no dat da masamune is a real sword and is actually one of the rarest?

  • It is a 45. I know the guy who fired the gun at the katana. Knowing him I am willing to bet that it is a Colt 1911. He is my boss at the gun store I work at.

  • course it would cut through led

  • what kind of katana is that because if it can do that i want one

  • believe me, you'll need years of skill before you can hope to block bullets with a sword.

  • And then after those years, you still only have just hope.

  • Even if he'd succeed, he'd still have holes in him :P

  • not a 45 cal or any cal o_O its a 9mm

  • why it say 45 cal it aint

  • 9mm is 45 cal

  • Lies. 9mm is .35 cal

    .45 cal is 11.43mm

  • huh thanks for that info, it helps :)

  • 10mm is exactly .40 caliber. if you hold a 9mm next to a .45 the .45 is huge comparatively.

  • oh yeah..cut the crap i just know one thing!!!! My silence are certainly fatal than ur SKILLS OF BRAG...u dont need to name what u can do??let ur arts name them hmmm..NINJUTSU

  • whyy?? XD

  • bullshit

  • *COUGH* allergic to bullshit *COUGH*

yeah, i am talking to you.

  • Lead Bullet, now try splitting a solid core FMJ.

  • good god it split the bullet

  • do you know what is a caliber? -_-

  • bullet diameter in inches

  • alright, good luck spotting a bullet and deflecting it with your sword.

  • LOL, wow, a sword cut through soft lead, big fuckin deal. The nerd holding the sword would end up with 2 gunshot wounds instead of 1, haha.

  • LOL thumbs up

  • Haha true!

  • omG my bf just broke up with me! i am soOOo sad! 2 get back at him i will strip on webcam H

  • That's not a 45 mm but a 9 mm !

  • 9 mm and 45.caliber

  • The gun showed in this video is only a 9x21 mm !!!!! ... But, do you know the difference?!

  • no, not really x)

  • Ah, so you don't know the difference!

(Infact, I was sure about this)

That Gun is a Beretta Parabellum 9x21.

I know perfectly that handgun. I got one of that.

  • nice :D

  • You're a moron. That's a model 1911 in .45ACP, Beretta does not make 1911's. 9mm Parabellum is a cartridge invented for ww1 by the Germans, for the Luger pistol.

  • You're right ! I discover it just watching better the gun in the video.

... About the word: "moron", I consider it an offence. Usually, when someone says me something like this, I broken his face.

So you can consider yourself lucky.

  • I'm an MMA fighter. I train with pro kickboxers, collegiate wrestlers and a BJJ brown belt product of Yamasaki, and was an all-state wrestler in Virginia at 215 lbs, I seriously doubt you would do anything to me. Just because you have the "MMA" moniker in your profile name doesn't make you dangerous, nor does it intimidate me. Plus, I'm an award winning silhouette pistol shooter, as well as an IDPA action pistol shooter. Choose your poison, either way you're SOL. P.S.-Learn how to speak English

  • I think everyone on the internet knows how to talk crap. I'm a master of Aikido, Karate, Kendo, Kung Fu, and Judo... and a marksman, and a pro wrestler too! Heck, I'm superman!

  • lol

  • no!!!1 I'm superman... you bitch

    :P

  • well i think this is all down to the fact that MMACyborg is a complete and utter fukin retard with a brain the size of my tollerence towards idiots, and thats pretty small actually

btw ur'll find i'm superman, but at nights i put on a dress and call myself superwomen XD

  • No, you're a cocksucker

  • wear soem dragon skin and have a katana

  • isnt that a 9 mil

  • the Japanese Katana; what Matsumura sensei was up against.

  • You're constantly going offtopic to cover up your own failure. If you had any clue about what your argueing with me in the first place you should by now noticed that Im talking about which one of the two wounds kills you the fastest->thereby most/less pain. Not the possibility of surviving idiot.

And no I did not fail to catch your sarcasm, you failed to use it in the first place. And by so standing out like a complete moron no better than the weeaboo's you say everyone else to be.

  • Here. it's 45 cal but the same video has it as 9mm. Does anyone know what was fired?

  • from the pistol the bullet was fired from, it's more likely that it was a .45caliber. the gun looks like a colt 1911 designed for used in wwII, which fired .45cal ammo.

  • Thanks for clarifying. I know technicals but I can't recognize equipment like some people. I can't look at a gun oh just be "Oh thats the so and so"

Helps to know it's a .45, makes the video a lot more impressive

  • Katana the best

  • Yeah that is the 9mm, not a 45.

    freaking weeaboos

  • The 'Japanese sword' is a product of inferior metals present in the country compared to other parts of the world, the shape caused as a by product of cooling caused the blade to bend into it's curved shape.

Japanese culture evolved both from it's adaptation of Chinese culture and the period of isolation it went through that forbade contact with the outside world other than the Dutch.

Nice try though, you might have fooled some ignorant weeaboos, but your -7 tells me that others know your lies.

  • 9 mm idiots
