This was basically made my acid heads still carrying on the spirit of the 60's. Just as todays new tv and that are all from the 80s kids. It ranked alongside Why Don't You!? for tv progs I would turn off v. quickly. Looking back it's more enjoyable now but Stamford the Lion looks really ill these days.

It's wrong but in our subconsciousness this is naughty witchcraft. We are using effigy, corrupted images of life, scary imitating puppetry as in Grimm or paganism. As always children who have no voice were subjected to the whims of 1970's free artisans. Pugwash and Pipkins were as also dark.
the musicians are Bongo (drums) - Atalanta Harmsworth
Rory (guitar) - Bev Doyle
Twang (bass) - Step Morley
Boots (guitar) - John Basset.
The latter 3 along with Tony Sibthorpe vocals and Andy Dummet keyboards went onto form the SKADOWS.Who went onto release the excellant album "Ska'd For Life".
@rudeboyo999 In Some of teh series, Bongo was played by Peter Eden who was actually the show's creator and producer. He was also the manager who first discovered and produced Donovan, the folk singer in the 1960s

I loved these guys! My Mum took me to see them live in Aylesbury when I was about 5 years old. Rory was my favourite. I was a little obsessed with their sparkly boots. It was quite a strange kids programme but I'm NOT a psycho killer!... YET!
I used to rush out of nursery with my mum to get home and see this! Saw a live show of this in a theatre somewhere in Staffordshire when i was 5. Brilliant all the coolness of glam and 70s rock.
men dressed in foam suits trying to do a weird impression of The Beatles...? anyhow, I'm another of those tedious people who recall this... the 70's were a very creative and weird period of children's television...
pipkins, rainbow etc... that 60's drug fuelled thought-revolution vomitted out such gems as this...
ding dong ding.. ding dong ding..'Rory Rory tell us a story..'
i used to watch this as a kid..
also remember at the time, they brought out some 'animal kwackers biscuits' different coloured cookies you could buy in the shops.. anyone else remember those ?
Been showing this to my 4 year old son & he LOVES it - I remember my Mum taking me to see the Animal Kwackers at Sheffield City Hall too. Scary? Give over!
That 'star fell down' song - what is it btw? Lovely little melody! Any more clips would be greatly appreciated!
AWESOME!!!! I have had countless arguments about this program. Everyone said it was Jackanory tell us a story - and it never was it was always roary from Animal Kwackers.
Wow I never thought I'd see this again...I may show it to my Nephew an Niece..What do you think...? Does anyone remember Moon Cat...? No one apart from my twin brother thinks it existed.
Yes!! I loved this programme as a kid, even had one of the xmas annuals. And yes I remember mooncat, was on a programme called get up and go, then i think he may have got his own show. Wasn't beryl reid one of his presnter friends?
This program gave me the serious creeps when I was a small child, and watching this, I can see why now.... facinating to see again but it's given me the creeps again lol
Not true! I myself have 3 full episodes on tape but at the moment have no way of transferring them onto DVD. Sadly, none of the episodes contain Tiger Feet but they are classics in their own right. Boots was always my fave. So good to know I'm not the only person that appreciated this show of pure genius. Keep Kwacking!
I would be very interested to see the 3 episodes you have. Email me via youtube if you are considering putting them onto dvd or transferring them to mpeg format.
Sadly, I have heard that this first episode is the only one now in existence - all the rest have been destroyed many years ago. What a shame. One of my favourite shows when I was a kid. I remember an episode where the tiger lost his boots and they sang Tiger Feet - genius! I always wanted to be Rory!!!
Superb! You should post a video response to this on my Animal Kwackers video because what you've got is so much better than mine and people are missing out!
OH MY GOD!!!! Well not sure I was a "pussy," but Rory scared the living s**t out of me when I was 4 or 5!! STILL does!!! BIg thanks for putting this up! Yep, there was definately some HIGHLY illegal substances available in the production office!!!
Brilliant! I've been a fan of the Kwackers since I was a kid (they never scared me, what's wrong with you pussies)?! Saw them live in Bristol and some years later in Swansea and got to meet them afterwards both times and got some LP's signed. Still got all the albums and looking out for memorabilia constantly.
I also used to watch it when I was 5. I saw them live in Abbey Park, Leicester and bought their album (which I've still got). But seriously. I wouldn't subject my daughter (who's 4) to such horror! Even back then, what were they thinking? Totally unsuitable for children. Good musicians though. I play the album (LP) for my daughter and she loves it!
i seen them too at abbey park and i remember when the concert finished i ran round the back to see them go into the spaceship, unfortunately i seen them take their head masks off and light a fag,i was upset for months.
Another 30 something Animal Kwackers survivor here. Glad to see it wasn't just me terrified of this as a youngster. I share your pain. lol
